Actually yes there are! I noticed #3 was missing on Lagoon Layer, its a "postgame banana"
EDIT: according to Google, i havent beat the game
@Truegamer79
I found one banana in the snow region, that I can not reach, but I am probably just too silly to get it. What @MoldyPasta says seems to be true. Number three is not even listed in my playthough yet.
I did the snow level first, because I thought, that I would enjoy the forest level more. Both levels are great. The forest song is very pleasant and relaxing.

Okay, I think I found the first banana, which can only be obtained with a skill from another level. The banana is located in the snow level and I got it just now.
Up to this point, every listed fossil and banana was obtainable.
@UndockedActionFemme I see the similarities to Odyssey in many ways - mostly the structure of the levels, the visual/sound design, and even things like costumes being tied to collectables.
But I agree there's also a lot of similarities to BotW/TotK, and I'm surprised people aren't talking about this more. In particular, I think DK's abilities are more reminiscent of Zelda than Mario (esp. the ability to move through terrain - it reminds me of exploring the caves in TotK and Link's ability to ascent through objects). And a lot of the collectables have a puzzle-like element to them that I find more in line w/ BOTW's design than Odyssey's.
Is the motion sickness really so bad? I am concerned with the article and various posts I am seeing about it. I can get sick watching weirdly shot/edited films, especially fast cuts or 3d ones. Buses and cars make me feel really sick too. I am honestly not sure I would be able to take this game.
One interesting detail in the beginning was the moon, which looked like a banana. And in Odyssey they use moons as an energy source, whilst in Bananza they use bananas.
I love bananas. I really have to eat a real banana someday, not those early harvested ones they send us. It must be so tasty. I am sure I will understand the "Oh, Banana!" phrase then.

It varies a ton person by person so it's a little hard to say, but it's worth noting that most of the commenters said it got better if they changed the camera settings or they just got used to it after playing for a while and then didn't get motion sick much after.
For me I was definitely queasy for the first portion, but the longer I play the better I learn to not jank the camera around so a few hours in motion sickness is very rare. And that's without changing the camera settings to make it better. Compare this to most first person games where I often can't last 3 minutes, the problems in this game seem not nearly as bad. The reason for the mild fuss is more that no one was anticipating motion sickness in this game even though it is relatively common in some types of games and genres.
With the motion sickness, the most I've really had is a light-headed feeling that makes me feel like I was about to fall over- which went as soon as it came. That stopped after the first two levels of the game though, so I think I probably got used to it.
"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."
@Ulysses
Oh no! I did not know that. A world without real bananas is a doomed world...
Maybe someday a brave explorer can find real bananas in the wild, untouched by or immune to the fungus.
Only just got the game now because of a shipping mishap, but enjoying it so far. I always wanted a DK game that revolved more around DK's brutish strength and boy does this deliver in a way that even I didn't know I wanted, destroying the level at will is just pure fun. The only issue I do have is with the camera at certain angles when you're underground, but other than that this game is a masterpiece so far. Can't wait to play more.
