Although I doubt it's the case, I could definitely see it as a "Available now" type surprise to really get people talking. Considering it would be an HD remaster and not something as significant as a remake, it could get away with being treated like a Wii virtual console game, with the added benefit of being in HD
Yeah if TP HD was coming out this year it would've been at e3. Zelda is something you have at e3.
A new release, perhaps (and sometimes not even that, as evidenced by Zelda U), but a rushed re-release? Not necessarily. Of course this is all speculation — I'm still ready to jump on the ”2015-Q1 2016 bandwagon”. They need, or rather Wii U needs, something to cram in the gaping holes left by both of their Holiday 2015 big hitters being delayed.
Currently on the plate:
Mount and Blade: Warband – Napoleonic Wars
Chivalry
Super Mario 3D World – Finishing the last few levels.
Mario Kart 8
I see where you're coming from, but WWHD was special in that it was a gamecube title going to the Wii U. TP can still be played on the Wii U via BC so it wouldn't be too surprising if they didn't give it as much fanfare
@Operative: I understand, but even if Twilight Princess is just a remaster, it would still require a lot more work than Wind Waker HD. Wind Waker HD was $60 (it still is I think), despite that fact that it was essentially just Wind Waker in 1080p with nice lighting effects. It's extremely unlikely that Twilight Princess HD is going to be a $20/30 eShop title, no matter if it's a remaster or a remake.
@WebHead: The news/thing/whatever is supposed to happen this week wasn't TPHD, he wasn't refering to TPHD as far as I understand. Doesn't mean that TPHD cannot happen this week, but don't count on it.
I could see them having the digital version be an "available now" type surprise with the physical version being available at a later date. This is Zelda we're talking about, so the splash would advertise itself via social media.
What titles had Nintendo stealth-released so far? I know there are a few small eShop titles they've announced the day it's released on a Direct, but I can't remember which.
Though I know for sure that no title big enough to build hype has ever gotten a stealth release.
