Topic: Nintendo switch turning on and off randomly

My switch won't turn on when I press the on button. I tried to do a hard reset but that didn't work any time I tried it. I tried a fix involving the doc and that didn't work either.

Then my switch would randomly show the Nintendo logo and do nothing. Sometimes it would show the Nintendo switch logo as well, like it was actually booting up. but it didn't. this was happening without me trying to turn it on or even touching the power button.

The switch would also actually show the home screen occasionally. but then it would turn off after a few seconds.

Any ides on how to fix this?

Never mind, it managed to turn on just now. I don't know what happened but feel free to suggest future fixes.

@ROckPikMInAReTheBesT Hopefully it was just a weird glitch.

I'll make suggestions, but your scenario sounds a bit different than normal.

There is a known issue of the switch struggling to wake from sleep mode. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a...

If your problem keeps reoccurring, then there's likely a hardware failure somewhere that requires fixing/replacing of something. Typically, if you can't solve an issue with the Nintendo support site search bar & troubleshooting, that is a good indicator your switch needs repair. https://www.nintendo.com/en-gb/Support/Welcome-to-Nintendo-Su...

A dying fan may be your issue. If a computer senses the fan isn't working during boot-up, the computer will shut down right after you start booting up the computer. This is a possible scenario for your description.

If it's not the above issues, I may also suspect a bad battery.

Some here will suggest you contact Nintendo support. If you struggle to get help from Nintendo support, you may want to find a retro game store in your area that does console repair - they may already offer Switch repairs. If you can't find that, look for a computer repair place, or tablet/smartphone repair place? They may also offer Nintendo Switch repairs.
