I think you have ever played certain indie games from Nintendo or PlayStation or Steam, but have you ever realized if there are some of indie games you played are from my country Indonesia 🇮🇩 ?

Some of indie games from my country Indonesia on Nintendo & PlayStation such as:

  • Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story
  • Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story 2
  • Potion Permit
  • Kitaria Fables
  • Coral Island
  • Ghost Parade

I'm so proud as Indonesian people to see the indie games from my country can be accepted internationally and got physical release on both Nintendo and PlayStation.
I would like to see more indie games from Indonesia get recognized internationally and get physical release on consoles.

Have you ever played some of indie games from my country Indonesia?
What is your thoughts about the game quality?

Huh. I didn’t know valthirian arc was a game made in indonesia. Congrats man. I honestly really enjoyed the demo for the first game so much I actually bought it a while ago. Now I just need to get the sequel.

Of those 6 listed, the only one I've played is Kitaria Fables but I really enjoyed that game. Very cute and fun farming RPG.

I admit I don't usually pay attention to what country a game is from, so I'm not sure if I've played more games from Indonesia.

Don't forget "A Space for the Unbound," which has some gorgeous pixel art and great story. NL gave it an 8/10.

I just started Potion Permit. Kinda feels like a blend between Harvest Moon and the Atelier series, which is very cool.

Those other games you listed look pretty nice too. I'll have to check them out.

Oh, here is the thing.
I found usually the indie games from Indonesia get published by PQube.
PQube oftenly published indie games from South East Asia countries like Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, etc.
Valthirian Arc 1 + 2, Potion Permit, Kitaria Fables get published by PQube.
Ghost Parade get published by AKSYSS.
Coral Island get published by Humble Games.

So whenever you find upcoming indie games by PQube, the games are mostly from South East Asia with chance of games from Indonesia.

And I found something interesting from Coral Island.
The team behind Coral Island was combination of Indonesian peoples and some foreign peoples. The indie developer name is Stairway Games, located at Bali so when you have a time to visit Bali, you have opportunity to meet with the peoples from Stairway Games.

A Space for the Unbound is an indie game developed by indie developer Mojiken, from my hometown Surabaya , East Java.

I've not played any of those, but I'll throw in Coffee Talk as another Indonesian game that's worth a look.

If the industry is doing well in one country or another? I mean that's nice. But at the end of the day good content is good content, doesn't really matter where it's made unless you're in that country and are work in or adjacent to that industry and want to see it do well

Thinking of the Australian games industry there are certainly some stand outs. Fruit Ninja, Untitled Goose Game, Hollow Knight, Cult of Lamb. Also rather infamously LA Noire. But other than maybe a small amount of national pride does the fact that these games are Australian really mean anything? .... not really....

The thing about games is that, generally, they're often not about where they were made. Something that's not really as true of movies and music. When I watch an Australian movie with an Australian cast filmed in Australia? I'm watching something with an Australian voice. When I find an Australian band, or even a Perth band like Pond, they're putting photos of Hay Street on their album cover with lyrics about Alan Bond

When I play Untitled Goose game it's like..... that's a Goose....

Frankly, if Nintendo was to make a Mario AFL game, even if they never set foot here when making it, that'd be far more of an "Australian shoutout" than any game made on Australian soil about not-Australia would be

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

Coffee talk is another good one I neglected to mention. No surprise that a game centered around coffee was developed there as Indonesian coffee is the best in the world (IMO).

Fallen Legion is a fun "vanillaware-esque" RPG from an Indonesian studio and is worth playing for fans of that genre/art style.

Oh, I never heard about Fallen Legion until I checked from Google, the game made by Indonesia indie developer (Jakarta).
And I found the game has physical release as well.
