NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14 started yesterday and continues today. The big story is the Jushin Ligers retirement match is tonight.

Also Jericho with be facing Tanashi tonight and Tanashi wins he gets a future match with Jericho for the AEW Championship. Interesting enough Tanashi isn't on the AEW roster but according to what I read he challenged Jericho for the AEW Championship. Jericho asked the Khan family and they told him well you're champion if you want to put it on the line that's up to. I just found it interesting that they let him do that.

They're basically just building up a working relationship between AEW and NJPW, much like NJPW has had with ROH and others in the past. Moxley was working WK14 too and even won their US title on night 1 (though i won't be surprised if he drops it to Juice Robinson on night 2). AEW has said that they want to try and have partnerships with other promotions (like how the Lucha Bros. defended the AAA tag titles on one of the early AEW PPVs), not unlike how WCW used to have a working relationship with Japanese promotions back in the day. Not to mention i believe some of the Japanese female wrestlers (including AEW's current champ Riho) are technically part-time with AEW, while also working smaller Japanese promotions (Riho i know also wrestles for Stardom over there). It's definitely a smart business-move for everyone involved.

Meanwhile, it's annoying that NJPW is no longer on AXS, since AXS was bought by IMPACT's parent company, and they evidently weren't able to come to terms to continue that relationship and keep NJPW on the network. Boo.

She-Ra is awesome. If you believe otherwise, you are clearly wrong.

@the_shpydar I didn't know that AXS no longer showed NJPW I actually haven't been keeping up with watching it due to my work schedule being changed and having to work Saturday nights now, but it makes sense since they have Impact now. I ended up caving in and getting a sub for NJPW World (basically NJPW "network") and been getting my NJPW fix that way.

I heard that NJPW has plans to expand to the US more in 2020 so a relationship with AEW makes perfect sense.

As for WK14 I am currently watching the first night on NJ World so I will post my thoughts later. Best match so far the Ospery match without a doubt.

So my thoughts on WK 14. All around a great show. Even the matches I weren't to interested in were sold matches. The best two matches of the whole event to me was the Ospery match the first night and the Double Championship match on the second night. Jericho's match wasn't to bad either and I would have loved to see him lose but all is good. I did find it funny though that on NJW they changed Jericho's music to some generic heavy metal song instead of Judas by Today then to have a Music changed due to rights issues scroll across the screen was hilarious. If Jericho doesn't own his own music then who does? 😂.

The Liger retirement match was another good one and I have yet to see his farewell celebration but it's always sad to see a legend hang up their boots.

Overall though WK 14 will go down as one of the best wrestling events I have seen in a long time.

I think this is the most interested I’ve been in the MITB holders for years. Asuka has been on fire lately and this gives her a chance to scream Japanese whilst dancing more and Otis is building on momentum something they never did with the likes of Rusev. I genuinely want to watch what these two are gonna do.

I haven't watched WWE since last year's WrestleMania, it didn't even bother me that I missed this year's. I have been really enjoying All Elite Wrestling though and that fills my need of wrestling quite nice. I am also not happy with they way Vince McMahon is treating his employees as of late especially after the diaster that was WrestleMania which was his own fault because he refused to cancel it.

I disagree with 'mania being a disaster. It was one of the better received 'mania of recent years, created new stars & main eventers and has encouraged growth with their cinematic matches.

@jump Well.of course it created new stars and main eventers, they had to after they gutted the locker room like they did. As for cinematic matches yes they were good from what I heard but IMO they should only be used on occasion use them too often and they will lose there appeal. But I forgot Vince is in the entertainment business not the wrestling business.

So how is it a disaster then? Tbh it sounds more like you want to attack WWE because you're AEW fan rather than 'manias was a disaster or WWE is evil. AEW aren't a clean as people would like to make out, not offering health insurance to their wrestlers, still wrestling despite the lockdown including having high risk people like Arn & JR on set etc and there's flaws in the product like a rubbish women's division, commentators not knowing their wrestlers' names and pushing people too quickly to be title challengers despite having a ranking system. Even the claim AEW is wrestling and not sports entertainment doesn't hold up when they have aliens (Statlander is amazing tho), dinosaurs and other corny gimmicks walking about.

There's room for more than one promotion in the world and for fans to enjoy more than one promotion. I watch AEW, WWE and New Japan, occasionally I even watch the odd Impact PPV.

@jump And here we go because I enjoy AEW I must hate WWE and be anti WWE.

I have been a fan of WWE for years even back during the Monday Night Wars so no I am not anti WWE or hate WWE. I will say I am anti Vince and don't like how he runs things. Still wrestling despite the Lockdown??? Ummm Vince did that too.

Vince won't let the wrestlers form unions, he stifles creativity and basically does what he wants even if others tell him no. Pushing Roman Reigns years ago when it was clearly not what the fans wanted. His constantly holding people like Ceasaro, Rusev and Dean Ambrose back and force feeding us John Cena. Warehousing wrestlers so they can't join rivial promotions. And then of course firing employees some who were there for years because of fiances but the day before he's able to give the Governor of Florida a bribe to let him continue to do live shows in a lockdown. Not only that but add to that what he did to the XFL.

Don't get me wrong I watch WWE and enjoy it but as long as Vince is in control I don't enjoy it. Now if he would step down (like the would happen) and let Triple H run WWE without interfering then I would be watching it right along with AEW.

So no I am not anti WWE I am anti Vince McMahon.

I can't imagine why I thought you were anti-WWE.

@jump Again not Anti-WWE just Anti-Vince. The athletes are amazing and some of them will be legends, but let's face facts alot of them are under utilized. Nakamura should have been WWE Champion by now, same with Caesaro and a few others. Vince screwed the pooch when it came to Dean Ambrose just because he didn't fit his image of a WWE champ.

Alot of his decisions is what he wants, not what the fans or the workers want but what he wants.

I loved NXT how it stories were and such when Triple H was allowed to run it how he saw fit bit then Vince had to go and get involved and now look at it. Charolette as NXT Woman's champion??? WTF your telling me that none of those woman in NXT deserved it so they had to bring Charolette from Smackdown back because Vince wants her to beat her daddy's record???

Anyway I am not going to continue cause at this point I am just repeating myself and if you didn't get it the first time your not going to get it at all.

But just cause I don't like the owner doesn't meant I don't like the product in general.

Wow I saw last night's Dark Side of the Ring about Owen Hart and another masterpiece. This was the first time that Owen's wife and kids have talked publicly about his death. She even went onto detail on why Owen isn't and will probably never be in the WWE Hall of Fame (At least as long as she or her kids are alive) which totally makes sense now that I think about it. What amazes me is that Vince and even the authorities had the balls to continue the show. Now it makes sense on why Vince didn't cancel WrestleMania this year if he didn't cancel a show when Owen died. Still a very interesting piece.

Also in Wrestling news sadly authorities found the body today of Shad Gaspar the who was one half of the tag team Cryme Tyme in WWE and other promotions. He was swept out to sea the other day along with his son, who is safe but they didn't find him untill today. Thoughts to his family.

Wow just finished watching AEW Dynamite and what a.show it was. Really happy to see FTR (formally The Revival in WWE) make their AEW debut. Another great move by AEW for their tag team division. Can't wait to see what they do here. At least I am sure that they will get treated here better then in WWE.

Yeah but he's not retired, he's just signed a 15 year contract and he's already hinting at going back to the ring plus they need new episodes of Last Ride.

@jump From what I heard is it's a merchandise deal more then anything, although he said he could be talked into another match but it's unlikely at this time. I really would like to see a Taker/Sting match in the style of the Boneyard match but with Sting no longer part of WWE it would be a long shot, but you never know.
