@Pizzamorg Hey it was my 2nd pokemon game ever, and I loved it, tho I can see were the hate comes from, as I feel like the feeling of these games are much more different from others, Well thats at least what the remake is teaching me.
I honestly just don't get the people who want every game series to be "Open world". Some games are better left not being open world, or completely open air like BotW. For example, Pokemon. I see a ton of people saying how pokemon needs to be open world, and how it's bad if it doesn't become open world, since most games are doing it on switch.. when that's not even true in the slightest. Not all games benefit from going fully open world, and not all games will be good in that format. People just don't understand, and then proceed to tell a company they're lazy because they won't make a massive glitchfest of a world with nothing in it, and high level spikes that make it impossible to actually enjoy the game.

...correct.
Open world is just one type of game and wanting everything to be like it is exceptionally boring (especially with how often enough open world games are samey as open world games). "Every game series should be less original than it is, I am very smart". Also there's only so many open world games I want to even play. Unless you only play games and have no other hobbies (and arguably even if), imagining playing like 10 of them in one year sounds awful. No, I refuse.
Though I do at least understand it for Pokemon, a series that is in dire need for some sort of change. It's still unneeded ultimately (as curious as I am about the pseudo-open world game in January).
@VoidofLight
Some peoples get spoiled by PC games with ultra realistic graphics + association being an adult gamer must be hardcore + stuck in one kind of games abd never want to try other games.
@VoidofLight I agree. 3d is fine, kinda like mario ODY, its an open world game, but its broken up into open world sections, Breath of the wild was kinda made to be open world in mind, were you run around just doing stuff, But do we really need a pokemon game? or any game for that matter to be just like it? I really don't understand why people need full open world games, when Smaller ones are just fine.
Sure I was a little sad to see pokemon legends wasn't going to be a full open world game, But at the same time, it might just work in its favor, I don't think I want to be running around endless space seeing the same damn pokemon every two sec.

@Snatcher I feel like Legends not being open world was a smarter move, given Gamefreak's ultimate lack of experience in the field, and the fact that it'd minimize empty space, as well as potential bugs.

I used to play The Sims. Really interesting game. I liked building my house and pumping the hero. Then I learned about Dota2 , poker and https://oddsdigger.com/ca/handball . Also like that I can make money without leaving home by playing at online games.
Playing some Wii U this afternoon, I like Hello Kitty Kruisers. I bought it digitally on sale just for the novelty of saying "I have Hello Kitty Kruisers on Wii U," and honestly, I find the game relaxing to play. I like it, and want to get a Switch copy of it eventually. Also helps that I like character themed games.
Just some context, it's one of those rare Wii U games AFAIK, hence why the novelty of saying that, lol.

It occurs to me that Dark Souls (and the other Fromsoft games) are fairly simple in execution. You can attack, block, dodge, or heal. There's different weapons and spells and such, but they're all controlled the same way in the game. So when you're confronted with a boss encounter, you have everything you need to get the job done with those few commands. Because it's challenging it's still tense and engaging.
Contrast that with another action game like Astral Chain, where I stepped away from it for a week and forgot the command inputs. I recognize that it's a good game - but I think when a game pushes different moves and combos I start to check out. It's the same problem I have with fighting games actually, I can't remember the moves (or pull them off in the first place) so I set that sucker to easy and sweep kick my way through Mortal Kombat II. Does it feel good? Maybe when I was 10. At my age now I just wouldn't bother to begin with.
To each their own, but the point I'm working towards is Soulsborne does do an excellent job of simplifying the ARPG, while not sacrificing the tension of combat or the feeling of accomplishment when you win.

I do really agree with that. Beyond just issues of memorization, I rarely find button combination focused gameplay like that as compelling. It's why my favorite Platinum game is Wonderful 101, which was less button combination focused (if still fairly complicated to remember), whereas in their other games, half of the combos I performed were me just pressing the buttons in the same way as the combos I did remember and hoping they're still useful attacks in the situation.
Combos and complex button commands take me out of the action.
tbh it's probably one reason I liked NieR Automata so much. Has all the ridiculous flash of Platinum's other games, but, mechanically, it's pretty basic.
It's also why I like Dead or Alive more than something like Street Fighter.
Currently Playing: Yakuza 0: Director's Cut (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Ralizah NieR Automata had some pretty good combat, but it took me a while to get used to not being able to roll around, like in Replicant. I rolled around pretty much everywhere in Replicant, but I couldn't do the same in Automata, since the button only let you dodge, and that was it. I really liked the chip system though, since it made combat basic, but customizable.

I mentioned Astral Chain to try and keep things Nintendo-relevant, but the game that got me thinking about this is actually Yakuza 0. I’ve been playing it casually for a few months and the combat is so unnecessarily ridiculous. Two guys who each have three fighting styles with a multitude of moves that only work depending on when one of the three levels of a “heat bar” is filled (whatever the hell that is). It’s like the game doesn’t realize I don’t care and that I’m in it to see things like Majima trying to hide.

@Snatcher Wouldn't know since I haven't played many PC fighters (Brawlhalla is the only other one I tried on PC, but have it on Switch too), but I find it amusing that MK combos can be done by typing the right keys quickly. Could never pull them off quickly on a game pad.

@Sunsy Hmm, Now that i'm thinking about it depending how much time you have spent on a PC, fighting games on the PC might be a great place to do combos, because wile yes on console its pretty much the same, But if your more Used to typing it might be pretty easy for you to remember a combo like you remember a word, But Like I said its pretty much the same on every console, As I remember the bread and butter stuff like the back of my hand.
