Just for the sake of sane human beings, I felt I should clarify my point about Call of Duty. It was a super general thing, not meant to be definitive of even my opinion, and in general I didnt explain it. Basically, on average Call of Duty is fairly in the middle for an FPS. Some of them are better, some worse, but the best games are like maybe kinda close to the level of a truly great game, imo. And the worst just test my patience and go between mediocre and boring. I haven't played every COD so I don't want to say they're definitively mediocre even on average, but they at least don't do enough to justify their popularity nor their hatred.
So basically great game > best COD >>>>>> COD on average >>>>>>>>> worst COD > bad game
Unpopular opinion: A game does not have to be exceptional or unique to be popular. It just has to be attractive to its target audience and competent enough on a technical level to be enjoyable.
That's all I got to say about the subject...
That was another thing I wanted to say. I don't frequently like this idea because it's flawed and elitist but a way to make a big mainstream hit is to do a lot of thing decent that appeals to a ton of people instead of something that is likely to be considered great by some and not so great by others. Especially with how varied people can be, it makes sense.
And tbh, while I think it does things way better than "decent", this is probably one of the main reasons Zelda is still popular. Does a lot of things well but very little of what Zelda does I'd consider among the best, barring maybe graphics for the console it ends up. Of course, I consider Zelda a great example of being "better than the sum of its parts".
@shaneoh There was actually some research on that, IIRC, and while they don't have "nerves" they do seem to react to damage, and even react when nearby plants get hurt. I'd have to look that up again, I forgot what they tested as the reaction...
That doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't equate to pain.
@Chrono_Cross There is no use arguing with you. You obviously aren't going too see the facts (or the opinions, for that matter), so I'm done.
I suggest everyone does the same
I think everyone here can agree there has been no arguing. It's a discussion.
Why are some people so against discussion in the general discussion forum? Makes no sense.
QUEEN OF SASS
It's like, I just love a cowboy
You know
I'm just like, I just, I know, it's bad
But I'm just like
Can I just like, hang off the back of your horse
And can you go a little faster?!
@kkslider - I was actually thinking of using Zelda as an example but couldn't think of a good way to put it. But I definitely agree with what you said there, and I don't think it's elitist so much as, well, a lot of people like games that appeal to them on multiple levels, even if each level is not the best or even that great. It's like the Renaissance Man vs. the Asperger Genius. Obviously more girls are gonna like the Renaissance man than the guy who knows the history, model number, and inner workings - right down to the individual parts - of a 1860's steam-powered Train. (I might want to meet him, though)
I think you're just being ridiculous at this point
With modern technology, we can ony assume plants do not feel pain. We have no proof to confirm they don't.
This brings up the fact that we don't know until we know, you know. Until it's proven, it can go both ways. It's not hard to believe considering we've been on Earth for hundreds of thousands of year and we have to explore our oceans, discover all species, and cure diseases that cripples our existence.
@Mickey
Metacritic is objective. It's all we have to judge a game's quality and it's a great indicator to why Call of Duty is such a success (one of them, that is).
In case anyone forgot the original topic of this discussion. haaha

I understand it's your opinion. I wouldn't be arguing if it wasn't. I just can't wrap my head around said opinion, but maybe it's not worth it. :/

We feel pain because of our central nervous system. Plants don't have one. While it is theoretically possible that they do sense pain somehow, it also doesn't make any sense evolutionarily. We feel pain to avoid noxious stimuli - a plant cant respond by moving away from it, at least not at any speed that would help it. I'm not sure if your point was even related to this, but everything in science is theoretical to an extent - we base this on all the evidence we have.
Sorry to bring this more off topic than it was already - how did we get onto plants feeling pain anyway?

At this point, we were no longer discussing, it had turned into an argument. Maybe not everyone else, but my personal discussion was an argument. And I am also very in favor of discussions, as I have participated in several on this site. But when it gets to the point where no progress is being made, we should stop. It is a waste of energy.

Nintendo should, at the very least, try selling a Gamepad-free version of the Wii U for $150. It's not like a majority of Wii U's heavy hitters absolutely need the Gamepad. And if you want a Gamepad, you'll have to fork over another $150.
After all, I would pay money for a second Gamepad, as my current one is scratched up.
If it doesn't work out, then discontinue the model. But it's pretty clear that gamers just want to play games and can care less for gimmicks, hence why I know plenty of friends with 2DS, and hence why a Kinect-less Xbox One Model was received so well.
Plus, a $150 next gen model looks great in the eyes of families, especially next to the $400 Xbox One and the $450 PS4.
Kingdom hearts has annoying music and isn't very fun in general.
all you gotta do is press triangle 5000 times and you beat 2
I'm surpised anyone liked Kingdom Hearts II's battles (if they did, tbqh, I've never actually heard anyone praise it anywhere near the level they praise the story), especially since it does a lot of things FFXIII gets hate for. Corridor dungeons, repetitive combat where implimenting strategy is actually less effective than simple button-mashing, and style-over-substance with lots of cutscenes/cinematic moments/QTEs, not to mention a very Japanese story that many won't understand. Meanwhile, the rest of the series is Mana in 3D. (actually, just like the Mana series, the second gets way too much hype when there are two games that are way better, including the one that preceded it).

That's my point.
We do not have the technology to confirm whether or not plants can feel pain. Just because it doesn't profusely bleeds, scream, or runs away, doesn't mean it can't feel pain or react to outside inhabitors. Thorns, toxic venoms, and other specific species of plants ( i.e. venus fly traps), are signs of evolution pointing in the direction of vegetation feeling pain and reacting to it. There's absolutely no evidence that completely clarifies that Earth's vegetation in no way feels bodily harm.

I enjoyed Twilight Princess more than Ocarina of Time.
I think this is a popular opinion depending on the age bracket. From what I've seen, most people under 20 prefer Twilight Princess and most people over 20 prefer Ocarina of Time of the two (generally speaking).
Most likely due to a person's favorite Zelda game often being their first.
