@kkslider5552000 Yeah, I don't get people sometimes. It's like they have the inability to understand not everyone can afford something, or that each person has a different reason for wanting and not wanting to own things.

I can't say I particularly mind either way at the moment but I hope there's more powerful hardware at some point before my current Switch dies. Upgrading from the 2017 Switch to either the improved battery Switch or the Switch OLED feels like a big waste of money.
My comments about more powerful hardware launching alongside BotW 2 is solely speculation based on what Nintendo has done in the past.
@VoidofLight Yeah, on the one hand we've got the Oracle games, Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild that ushered in a new generation of hardware with their releases.
On the other, we've got the rest of the games in the series and there are a heck of a lot more of them.
@Matt_Barber Not to mention, most consoles usually get a Zelda game tailor made for the specific system. The Switch doesn't have that at the moment. The only exception was really the Wii U, since BotW was a dual platform release due to the system's failure (which is why I don't count it as a game made for the ground up for the switch, as it doesn't take advantage of the hardware.)

Chiming in here with this whole 'Switch Pro' discourse, I find console upgrade discussion as a whole to be extremely boring. I can completely understand why someone would find it exciting since there's absolutely people who can't get enough of the teraflops or the 8K resolutions, but for me? It's the thing I barely think about most of the time (it's like that one Futurama quote: 'When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all'). Granted, this could just be because I grew up on the DS/3DS where getting mad over resolution is the equivalent of a dog getting hairs all over your clothes when cuddling with you: it's annoying, but you can't really be mad at it. There's also the whole thing of Pokemon being my favourite series so I think the side of me that cared deeply about graphics has left long, LONG ago.
Basically: new consoles are always cool, but the discussion around them usually isn't (IN MY OPINION).

I'm also kinda sick to death of the Switch Pro discourse. It's basically the same thing every year and it feels like all that can be said at this point already has been.
I'm also personally much more interested in talking about games/consoles that are already out than speculating about future games and systems tbh.
Castlevania is at its best when it sticks to a linear side-scrolling style and not the metroidvania style seen in SOTN. Add to that I think Castlevania: Bloodlines on the Sega Genesis is the best one of them all, beating Super Castlevania 4. I even prefer to play as Eric Lecarde with the trident rather than John Morris with the classic whip. I like the World War 1 setting and that it ties into the actual Dracula novel.
@Fizza Liking games like Pokemon as a kid, and being a Nintendo fan from an early age probably also numbed me to the whole graphics thing too. I like games with nicer graphics, but I still enjoy playing stuff on the 3DS or consoles which are considered to not be up to par with modern day.

@Type_Trubbish agreed on the side-scrolling Castlevania games.
Same on the pro concept. I bought the OLED when it came out because I liked the idea of bigger base storage and the larger screen (I play more on handheld than docked) and plus I was entertaining the idea of a Switch Lite for my kid for X-mas last year so I just gave him my full Switch instead and I upgraded. But I'm plenty happy with my OLED and I've never really been attracted to too much realism and graphics in gaming......partly because I loose my bearings and my depth perception gets thrown off at some point as the detail goes up......partly because I have always gravitated toward games that are unrealistic in the first place so I don't need a "like real life" experience. I'll run this into the ground and not upgrade until it dies, a NEW console is rolled out or if I succumb to an impulse buy if some irresistible special edition comes out that I cannot avoid.
I just started Pokemon Shield and it's the first Pokemon I have ever played and I find it lovely as it is.
