@Buizel
Yeah, I am sick of it to. At this point when the switch 2 is announced, the pro fans will say that they were right all along.

@blindsquarel It will be called the Nintendo Shift. You Shift into play? You Shift into 4k?

There’s honestly not much else to talk about the switch pro, I mean we speculated about it. Nonstop for like two years.

I'm about a day late, but wanted to reply to this one. Call it unpopular, but I'm tired of seeing Switch Pro get talked about constantly.

AFAIK, there might be people who are interested in a Switch, who might not buy one because they're waiting because they want a more powerful Switch. Those who want to play third party games at 60FPS, are probably going to do it elsewhere too. All it is, is just speculation at this point, nothing is confirmed.

I look at them as unconfirmed rumors, until Nintendo themselves say something, it's not happening IMO. Same with Directs, I rather hear official word on it, since rumors are just easy to make up.

Sorry if I got ranty, it's just a pet peeve of mine. I rather wait for something official, than just someone who claims they're an "insider."

My unpopular opinion is that I'm not a fan of turn based combat in games. I just prefer to control my character in video games. The whole taking turns and waiting for the enemy to attack is boring to me, but I can see why it's fun for others! The strategizing and all that is appealing. It's just not for me, unfortunately.

Honestly, I feel like the opposite is an unpopular opinion. I think 99% of the time when games use those weird half foot in and out models, it would have been way better if it was just straight turn based, but it just seems like people don't want that anymore.

I have nothing against turn-based combat but random encounters can go to h-e-double hockey sticks.
They were great in their time, but plenty of JRPGs have shown they're not necessary anymore.
I'm happy they won't be a part of Pokémon S/V.

Yeah, while I prefer real time combat, I'm fine with turn based combat (loved SMTV, FFX, & many of the DQ games), but random encounters can go die in a hole. Despite having real time combat, the random encounters are a large part of why I dropped Final Fantasy Type 0 HD so fast.

That said, I'm not a fan of turn based games that try to rush you through your decisions (like the FF games with the "Active Time" turn based system).

I was going to start a new thread but fear I will get chased out the village with pitchforks! (Pun intended read ahead). My unpopular opinion is that cloud games aren't that bad and allow people who can't afford or have access to another console or pc. For me being able to play the resident evil games announced on my switch is great and I understand you don't necessarily own the game and require a decent internet but to be honest there are some games I'm not bothered about "owning" as such as I just want to experience the game when and however I can and for me that will have to be cloud gaming on the switch and I'm okay with that.

We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

Ryu_Niiyama

@Sparrow5579 I agree with you there. In lieu of a ps5/xbox one style system at least Switch owners have options and it shows devs that switch owners want those games...which means they may get native entries on the successor. But I feel they should all have a solid demo so people can test.

My unpopular opinion: Why are so many people crying about no TPHD or WWHD ports? You got them already on wiiu...shoulda bought a wiiu.

@Sparrow5579 While I'm not too crazy over cloud versions, I can't help but agree. It's an option to play a game that wouldn't be on Switch otherwise, it's a option for those who just want to play it. As a PC gamer, I personally feel that cloud is a good option in event you don't meet requirements for a specific game. Example, my PC can't run Guardians of the Galaxy as it needs more VRAM than what I have, but at least with a cloud version, I could play it until I can upgrade my hardware.

I play both on PC and Switch, but I don't mind having cloud versions there as an option, or even complement a game (giving players the choice to download or stream). Probably wouldn't pay $60 for a game I don't own, maybe if it was on sale for like $10-15, I can see that being more reasonable.

@Ryu_Niiyama exactly it shows there's a market and when switch 2 comes out they may put more demanding games on it. @Sunsy outside of the switch cloud gaming is a growing thing and again outside of the switch it is becoming very accepted. I agree that pricing is something that could be adjusted especially when it's an older game, coming on cloud should mean a lower price tag unless it's a brand new AAA game.
I just feel the switch community has this hugely negative view on cloud technology when at the end of the day it's just another means that allows us to play what we are all here for and love.

We have done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

Sunsy

@Sparrow5579 I think the negative reputation has more to do with several factors. Firstly, you don't own the game, it's not like downloading the game where the data is locally on the system or the SD card, or having the cart. Secondly, if the server goes down with the cloud game, you pretty much lose access to that game you spent money on.

The latter is a concern because no one knows how long servers will be up for. In a "will I be able to play this years from now" kind of way. Cloud gaming is fairly new, so we don't know if the servers will be up forever or not, that can be a worry some have. I have physical and digital games I've played years ago, that I will still boot up and play today.

To my understanding, that's why there's a negative view on them from observations I've made. I think they're fine to have for those who just simply want to play a game without having any other hardware that can play them.

Sparrow5579

@Sunsy yer I completely get those reasons for certain games, for example I wouldn't want my copy of Pokémon on cloud as I always come back to it, but then a game like resident evil for me is a one and done game, don't get me wrong I love the series but I'm satisfied with one play through. I think it's all still an unknown as you said we don't know how long the servers will exist etc

Fae Farm from the Direct looked WAAAAY Much Better than any Rune Factory games since I hate the character design of Rune Factory franchise.

@Sparrow5579 Indeed, games I love like Sonic or any series I like, I would like to have physically, or digitally in case of PC. Having options is great, I wouldn't want one format to disappear over another, having physical, digital, and cloud versions. They all appeal to someone in different situations.

@RR529 Don't most of those games have an option to set the ATB battle system to "Wait" so when your meter fills up and it's your turn, the enemies will wait and not do anything until you do? I know Chrono Trigger does, but I haven't played much FF.

@Sparrow5579 I've never understood the hate. I've said this before somewhere on here, but there are extremely few games that came out 10-20 years ago that I still have any desire to play today, and so I don't care about "owning" the game because I'm not going to want to play it years from now anyway. I'm excited that Kingdom Hearts is on Switch at all, and although I haven't bought it yet that's only because I'm waiting for it to be cheaper. As long as they have demos you can make sure it works with your internet, I'm all for the cloud if that's the only way to get the games.

@Ryu_Niiyama Zelda is my favorite series and I am so glad that they have not announced WW and TP ports for Switch. I already have them both on Wii U and don't need them. I guess "glad" might be the wrong word because I guess they would be good for those who want them, but this big "Zelda blowout!" that this Direct was supposed to be would have been disappointing to me because I would have much rather had other things (like the Oracle games remade Link's Awakening-style). So I'm perfectly happy with those ports not being announced.

RR529

@Xyphon22, I had no idea that was a thing! Granted the only ATB FF games I've played were IV Advance (back on GBA), the mobile version of IV (which I did see through to the end), & IX on Switch (which I should go back to, to see if the option is there).

@Xyphon22 exactly my point, like I said I'm excited that the resident evil games are coming via cloud because at least I can play them and they are one and done games to me but worth the money so I have no need to be able to hold onto the game for years

@Sparrow5579
I personally hate cloud gaming as I am a games collector so I want my games purchase in physical release. Even I have finished the games, I still keep them to replay / revisit again whenever I want.

SKYBOXING Champion from 4 SKYBOXING LEGENDS.

Sparrow5579

@Anti-Matter that's fair enough if your a collector then I totally get it. Personally I'm not collecting games and just want to play games, as I said there are some games I get physical as I want to keep them such as Pokémon
