The funny thing is that I didn't know this was the vote count, when I made the joke about you guys not appreciating ambience and you kinda proved my point. But it's no big deal, I really think this was a pretty bad flight altogether. Flight 2 would curb stomp this one in direct competition.
2) Shadow of the Colossus — Ambience. It's what this game is all about. Being sucked into the world and given the rather depressing ending of this game, the sad, slow ambient credits theme fits. Besides, No More Heroes' final theme sounds like a generic battle theme to me. I made a quip about this thread hating on ambient themes, but I'm honestly too annoyed to bother trying to remember it.
Well, wasn't it you who said that context ought not matter; a piece should stand on its own feet. I can just imagine it playing in the background when some vast fields of uncharted land lay before protagonist, a calm ending. But when stripped of visuals, it's just kinda... there. It'd be easy to forgot the whole thing playing in the background when casually surfing the net. No More Heroes at least kept me engaged the whole time, that's who it got my vote.

6-1 Pokemon Gold and silver couldn't catch this puffball as Kirby Super Star Revenge of Meta Knight advances.

Funny you should say that, because fact is that my criteria changes based on the subject, and a credits theme requires all of the context. A final boss, on the other hand, should sound like a final boss, regardless. Even so, if I were judging without context, I'd still give it to SotC because it actually sounds like an end credits theme to me.
I'm picky, I know, but it's ask opinion, and clearly mine it's the unpopular one, here.
Skyword Sword - Well...I specifically picked Skyward Sword because it has my favorite Legend of Zelda credits, sooo...yeah. Also 2:48 is where the main melody comes in, which is my favorite part and favorite variation of it ever done so far. Pokemon Trading Card Game GB - Ico was like, background music in a civ selection menu. It needs a rise and fall. Shovel Knight - Wow, how did these two wind up against each other in the first round? They're both really similar, but I Link's got a bit repetitive at around the halfway point. Ace At-tourney Investigations Great Revival - Well I was prepared to vote for Unwound Future when this suddenly became all kinds of epic. I'm still not entirely sure but Ace Attorney's is so catchy!

1)Wind Waker — Skyward sword takes way too long to build up.
2) ICO: Castle in the mist
3) Link's Awakening — My only decision based on nostalgia. They are both pretty good, but Awakening's ending..... it wins.
4) Ace Attorney — I'm not sure why, but I like this song more.
1) Wind Waker HD – Both are sublime, but I really like how this incorporates other themes while still keeping the basic structure going.
2) Pokemon Trading Card Game GB – Once again a song that lurks in the background without significant build-up or pay-off (I'm talking about ICO). It maybe ambient, but it certainly isn't engaging or rewarding.

4) Unwound Future – Noooooooo...... my nominations go head to head in the first round! It's like being forced to choose which of your children you love the most. Okay, maybe not that dramatic. More like having to choose to the cuter of two puppies. Still unbelievably tough! I'll just bring the votes a bit closer together and leave the rest in your hands.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Wind Waker's credits theme is mainly just the title theme with a few extra songs thrown in. Skyward Sword's credits theme on the other hand, feels like a fitting end to a fantastic journey, and is a much more varied piece overall.
2. ICO (Castle in the Mists)
Both songs are very different, but I like the darker approach of this one.
3. Shovel Knight
Neither track really amazed me. I'm split pretty evenly between these two so it could change.
4. Professor Layton and the Unwound Future
The Ace Attorney song simply bored me, this on the other hand, was fantastic.
