@Mariotag
Yokai Watch 1 - 3 gameplay is Auto Attack system like FF XII style.
You cannot ask them to attack directly but you can pinpoint the enemy so your Yokai will attack the enemy you targeted.
Yokai abilities are divided into six categories, kinda like FF XIII roles.
There are Attack (Commando in FF XIII), Elemental Magic (Ravager), Healing (Medic), Guard (Sentinel), Supportive skill (Synergist), Bad status skill (Saboteur).
Each Yokai only have four different abilities: Attack, Technique (Elemental Magic / Healing / Drain) , Soultimate (Strongest Attack or Skill) and Inspirit (Supportive or Saboteur skill).
Every Yokai have different abilities based on their tribes.
Some Yokai can heal, some Yokai is good in physical attack, some Yokai is good in Elemental magic, some Yokai can give Supportive skill, other Yokai can inflict bad status on enemy.
By knowing their four different abilities from each Yokai, you will thinking to pick specific Yokai in your team so you will make sure you have balanced team with some Healer to heal your team and some good attacker or Elemental magic user to defeat the enemies or you might consider one Yokai with Saboteur Inspirit skill to dismantle the enemy's status especially the Sap (HP Loss every several second).
In battle, your Yokai will behave depend on their behaviour that can be changed with specific books. Their behavior will affect them in how will your Yokai facing the enemies or communicating with their team.
Some behaviour like Grouchy will make your Yokai do physical attack oftenly, the peaceful behaviour will have tendency to use supportive skill, the wicked behaviour will have tendency to use Saboteur skill, etc.
The only thing you can give them direct command is Soultimate, Purify and using Items.
Soultimate is their ultimate attack or skill from each Yokai.
A lot of Soultimate is attacking one or all target with strong physical / Elemental magic attack, some Soultimate is healing and or reviving all allies, some of Soultimate is inflicting damage and give the enemies bad status, there is also Soultimate that give you mighty supportive skills like protection and all status up.
Purify is direct command to your Yokai if they got inflicted by bad status and you need to remove them by performing one from three different touch mini games to clean the bad status (rub the screen with touch pen / slide over the sealed magic papers / break the three chains). Everytime you purified your Yokai from bad status, your inflicted Yokai will get extra EXP points.
You can still using items for your Yokai if they need some foods or drinks to heal their HP or Soultimate meter.
There are a lot of different foods you can buy from different stores and use for your Yokai.
Every Yokai have their own favorite foods or drinks so by giving them their favourites, it will raise the affection with you.
You can also throw the items you have to enemies to make them liking your food or drinks and after battle they might be joining in your team, unlike Pokemon style games that you can have a chance to get one monster after throwing some Pokeballs, in Yokai Watch the enemies will join in your team randomly and the rate of joining in your team can be increased a little bit by having Yokai which have Passive ability Popular so it will increase the chance of the enemies joining in your team after battle.
Capturing specific Yokai in first and second game are pretty painful as we cannot get them directly, but in Yokai Watch 3 there is a special item called Forbidden Fruit (Purple Apple) which is basically the Master Ball of Yokai Watch. If you throw the Forbidden Fruit onto one enemy, they will join in your team 100% after the battle so this feature in Yokai Watch 3 is helping a lot.
Oops... Too much explanation.
I hope this will make you understand about Yokai Watch gameplay.

Changed my avatar again!

Been on a pen obsession recently and bought too many pens that I probably don’t need but thought looked cool. Can’t wait to use them in my drawings later on.

Also, I bought candy corn recently on impulse, and wow, it kind of tasted bad. My mom said candy corn tastes like sprinkles and I agree…the look of candy corn is unique, but the taste isn’t. All the taste reminded me of was the frosting on a sugar cookie with sprinkles. I didn’t even know until now that candy corn has a really mixed reception, but after eating it recently after a few years, I kind of understand the reception now…

I felt so devastated and brokenheart to find my Save data of Youtubers Life 2 PS4 on my PS5 (Also after got newest update last year) got corrupted again. 😭
I found the save data got corrupted after my PS5 got updated with new firmware this afternoon and when I loaded my Save data of Youtubers Life 2 PS4 on my PS5, it said my save data got corrupted.
How could it be??
It was really breaking my heart as I already like with the game but the random corrupted save data that happened for more than 2 times, it gave me horror and disappointment as I thought the game is become UNPLAYABLE because of the save file got corrupted oftenly when I got more progression.
My brokenheart feeling really affected my gaming mood today as I became less interested to play other games in order to find some distractions to forget the brokenheart just now. 🥺

@Anti-Matter that's the problem with 3rd party games. Sometimes they're programmed poorly

@Pastellioli I could never EVEN appreciate candy corn. I know there is Trolli's Sour Brite candy corn. But that makes it even more unappealing to me.

BTW...nice avi. Mine's is only temporary until after Oct. 31. It's Dolphin from Azur Lane.

The only time I can stomach candy corn is if it's equally mixed with salted peanuts or cashews. Then it tastes like a Payday candy bar. Otherwise, it goes straight in the trash.

@Anti-Matter Congrats on the new kittens! Hope their mama is doing well.

@Pastellioli Taking the occasional break from our normal routine can definitely help us see things differently and "reset" our brains in some ways. Plus it is a good way to declutter and do other stuff we need to! There's nothing wrong with experimenting with our hobbies. If something isn't working out, just move on and do what you're doing: donate or sell what you don't use!...or toss it if it isn't salvageable lol. There is sunken cost fallacy, but that can be a toxic mindset. I have this issue with unplayed games sometimes.

You might be correct that YW4 wiki articles are also incomplete since the editors want to make sure nothing is lost in translation. I do think it's more likely that it's more because YW4 was never formally localized...and it wasn't exactly popular with its Japanese audience either. I'm glad Level-5 is still in the game since it seems Nintendo has taken over their publishing rights outside of Japan. I was genuinely concerned after they closed overseas operations.

I had to use a translation app just yesterday to read care instructions for a Slime cushion/throw blanket combo I bought from PlayAsia. That was handy at least lol. Learning how to properly speak and understand another language can be hard, especially outside of our formative years. It is possible but does take a lot of time and effort. We'd likely always have an accent in another language since we weren't raised speaking certain sounds. I took three years of German in high school and still retain some knowledge, but my sentence structure and memory have definitely dulled over time lol. Spanish I know a few words of in passing. Same with Japanese due to the media I consume. Spanish would make the most sense for me to learn for practical reasons.

Thankfully, phone screen protectors are easy to replace in my experience. My current one is cracked in one side. I have a replacement but have been too lazy to swap it out. I'm glad I waited though since I did fall last weekend. I don't think it damaged my phone, but I did land on it. Yeah...definitely don't put anything metallic or that can explode from heat in a microwave. Unfortunately, somd people haven't learned that you can't believe everything you see and read online.

@Mariotag Paper Jam does seem to have its fans, but overall consensus seems to indeed be "meh". Other M was decent overall. Yes, it had its issues, and I would have been ticked if I'd bought the game around MSRP. But I found it very cheap new and still probably would've been satisfied if I'd paid 3x the amount I bought it for. I think it's mostly some of the story aspects that rub people the wrong way. And most characters did feel underdeveloped. You've hit on why I was drawn to Ni No Kuni but ultimately noped out of the game. Story and visuals are nice, but gameplay is important to me too. The second game seems to be either loved or hated too. I didn't even know there was a third mobile title lol.

I did watch Fusion subbed but fell off about halfway through. They lost me with no proper Digivolving, though I know they did bring it in later. The fusion aspect has been done elsewhere many times. I do need to go back and watch Savers since I didn't have access to watching it back in the day. I did like Seasons 1-4 to varying degrees, with Tamers being my favorite. I know Tri was hyped up before release, but I haven't kept track of the aftermath. It has become a "I'll get to it at some point" priority lol. Interesting that it now may be non-canon?

For Yo-Kai Watch, the best I can recommend at this point is looking up gameplay videos online. Sometimes you can find one of the earlier 3DS titles (YW1 and the original YW2 pair) for cheap too. As for computer security...if the site isn't secure at all, I recommend running a Windows VM in its own sandbox environment if your machine can handle it. That way if something nasty happens, your actual system is fine. Or alternatively run what you want on a roadkill system that you can easily wipe/reload and is on a separate connection from your normal network. I admit it has been some time since I've tried the above however. I barely have time to play legit games these days without worrying about emulation.

@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot I didn’t even realize until recently that candy corn is kind of icky. I think it would taste better maybe in a trail mix of some kind with peanuts and pretzels, but on its own, candy corn is kind of gross and I find the taste isn’t unique. It really just tastes kind of like sprinkles, but way more sugary. The brand of candy corn I got was Brach’s, but it was probably one of the worst impulse purchases I have made.

Thank you for the compliment! I really like a lot of everyone’s avatars on NL. I have a thing for constantly changing mine really fast. I did have some issues with cropping the original picture to fit my avatar (like the character getting off center) but I was able to make it fit. If you are curious, the character is Kazooie from Banjo-Kazooie. Thought I’d change my avatar since they recently added Tooie to NSO. I have heard of Azur Lane before, but I haven’t played it.

@Tyranexx Yeah, it’s definitely helping me a lot, plus I am kind of reading some books on small occasions too. I haven’t found a new movie to watch, but I think I will find one soon. I really enjoy movies a lot more now.

Yeah, whenever I buy a new art supply or art medium that I haven’t done before and I find that it doesn’t work for me or I can’t get used to it, I just used to let it sit and move on to the art supplies I am used to using, like what I did when I purchased an oil paint set on impulse, damaged my paintbrushes and made a lot of unsalvageable paintings, and realized after that I didn’t have all the necessary materials (or skills) to use them. But, I think from now on I’ll be donating art supplies I don’t use a ton instead of tossing them out or letting them sit and take up space. Trashing unused art supplies hurts me so badly! Though, when I was looking through my art supplies recently and choosing what to donate, I did find quite a few items that were unusable and didn’t work anymore, so declutterring definitely helped with finding what art materials worked and which ones didn’t work and took up an unnecessary amount of space. I definitely should have done this months ago!

Yes, cuz while some fan translations are close to the original, I think I have come across some online that people have said is inaccurate or full of errors, or significantly change things up that deviate from content in the original. But, I also do agree that the game not actually getting an official English release is why wiki pages on YW4 are mostly empty with info and details on its story. Since those wikis rely on official and canon info, they likely would not want to use any translations that don’t come from Level-5. If it was maybe a fan wiki, then maybe it would use a fan translation, but most wikis do not use fan translations or info since some of the stuff might be erroneous. Although I don’t understand Japanese, I am assuming Level-5’s official English translations of the YW games are closer to the original Japanese versions, though I have heard that the English versions changed the settings of the three mainline games to America, or tried to make the game appear like it took place in America instead of Japan. I am happy that Level-5 hasn’t gone bankrupt and that it appears they are getting support from Nintendo, cuz I really want them to continue releasing YW games in America, even if they don’t localize YW4. In fact, I think Nintendo worked as the publisher for the 3DS YW games in America, so they have assisted them before by acting as a game publisher.

I remember I tried to take Japanese lessons in Duolingo maybe three or four years ago, and I can’t remember how well I did, but I think I did okay, but I eventually stopped using the app and didn’t make much progress with my Japanese practice. I also did take Spanish classes in the past, but I never really understood the words or seriously practiced them because of other stuff I had to do. I have heard that a lot of people said Japanese is the hardest language to learn, also because of the writing styles. However, I still do think that translator apps come in handy for me, even if the translation is kind of rough, and it also helps when Google Translate shows the written form of a Japanese word and shows how to pronounce it, so I have become a bit familiar with certain Japanese characters and letters by the way they look.

My screen protector hasn’t really cracked from falling luckily, but I remember I was walking outside with my phone in hand a few years ago and fell on some rocks, and so did my phone. My screen protector got kind of cracked on the sides, and the outside of the phone screen also got somewhat scratched, but my phone screen was still in good condition. Screen protectors are very fragile when you are trying to take them off of the phone screen or when you drop them, so even though my current screen protector has some cracks on them from that rhythm game incident, I just leave it alone since the protector still works, and also because I don’t want to damage the thing any further. I do think I could find some extra screen protectors for my phone model online, but I’ll just wait a bit until my current protector shows more damage and age. I find that screen protectors have a ton of longevity.

@Tyranexx Well, I no longer really care about Yo-kai watch. Ni No Kuni 2 has kinda the opposite problem from 1. The battles are good, but the story, and traversing the world, not as much.
I finally finished Paper Jam! Still meh though. Other M was kinda neat imo. A few things got annoying, the "detective mode" allowed you to just be trapped until you found the one small thing you needed to.

I'm hoping to finish Digimon Xros Wars (Japanese name for Fusion) before too long. I never really found the lack of evolution to be an issue though. The third season kinda stands on its own. Never got dubbed. But I can sorta see why. Lots of Ghost Game type stuff.
Tamers is one of my fave seasons too! Though, I wouldn't be shocked if Adventure, in its OG subbed form, overtakes that. Imo, Adventure tri was a nice fun collection of six movies, translated into episodes. But, as much as it left to build off of, and as much as it built off the OG, it still kinda didn't know that much of what it was doing, and the ending, uhhhh, kinda sucked. Then Last Evolution Kizuna and 02 The Beginning came, and the latter retconned a pair of very important characters from tri.
