My great-uncle was a leap year baby and we just celebrated his birthday on February 28th on non leap year years.

Most people only mean the leap year birthday thing as nothing more than a joke. As Tasuki mentions, the normal thing is to celebrate on either the 28th or the 1st on non-leap years.

@MarioLover92 yeah tomorrow is friday so I got that going at least

it's work related btw, and if they try to get me to work ot, my cries will be heard internationally

Sorry, it's the last place I can whine about it

@Eel sure, but it sucks when all your friends have driving licenses and you can't because they're 18 and you're 4,5

My mother was born on leap year and we celebrate every year. On March 1st on non leap years since she was born close to midnight. She has a true age and her "leap age". I've teased her by saying she's been driving illegally for years. XD We also don't really celebrate it on the 28th (yesterday) since it's my dad's birthday. They were born in different years though.

@MarioLover92 No worries. Life hits us all at one point or another. I like most forms of cake, even if it doesn't typically qualify as actual cake (like cheesecake or ice cream cake from DQ). That chocolate cake sounds really good! I like chocolate cake too unless the cocoa flavor is very strong. Both my parents celebrate birthdays this week, so maybe I'll get some this evening?

Which boss are you stuck at in MP1? I haven't played the remastered version yet, but I did play through Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii U (via Wii Mode) over the span of a year several years back. I hope you're enjoying Side Order. The Splatoon series really isn't my thing, but the gameplay does look enjoyable.

Many Disney movies are indeed adaptations of classic stories, though very loosely so in many cases. The original Cinderella is quite violent for example. Others like Frozen take the source material and run away with it fully.

Fievel Goes West isn't quite as good as the original movie, but it's still very entertaining and brings back several characters. Including one of my favorite VAs from that time period, Dom DeLuise. Glad that you enjoyed that video clip, and I'm very happy you finally watched the animated version of Mulan! Amazing movie with plenty of decent songs and Mushu sass. XD

@Tyranexx ooh my parents also have birthdays on consecutive days (In October though). And they also got married basically within their birthday “week”.

They save a lot of money on parties.

I often joke that they should’ve planed out my brother and I’s birthdays on that same space to have the anniversary royal flush.

@Eel The birthday thing was one of those coincidences, but having their anniversary close to them too? That's a heck of a money and memory saver too! None of our other birthdays come close, though my sister and BIL's birthdays are within two days of each other (in January). With immediate family birthdays, my nephew's is now next, in August.

I have funny thought about Finding Nemo when considering about Nemo as clownfish.
I was thinking in the future, I will call Nemo as Naima, do you know why?
Because Nemo is a clownfish and clownfish can change its gender from male to female in such specific condition when there is no female clownfish nearby, the male clownfish (Alpha male) will change its gender to female.
And it has different color on its tail.
So next time if Pixar want to make sequel again of Finding Nemo, it should be called Finding Naima.
Well, the closest female version name of Nemo is Naima in my opinion.
What do you think? 🤭

Also, can you imagine the Nemo's Mom / Marlin's wife was used to be a male clownfish that changed into female?
Fun facts, all the baby clownfish will born as male but some of them will change into female when grow up.
There is no genuine female clownfish from baby so all the female clownfish you see was used to be a male clownfish.
And I wonder what was the male version name of Coral?

@Sunsy oh these are the classics! I only played the newer Mortals so I don't really have a comparison. But yeah, I don't really play a lot of fighting games because I don't have people to play with. It's much more fun if both players kinda know what they are doing, but mashing the buttons is fun too.

Yeah, button mashing is pretty much how I play fighting games anyway. I'm not the best at moves, but it feels good to pull one off. I usually will play with my friend online, Mortal Kombat 3 on GOG can do multiplayer via DOSBox IPX emulation, and I play two modern MK games online with him too (I have X on PC and 11 on Switch).

Tyranexx wrote:

@Sunsy Interesting. I had no idea Funko really delved into products besides the Pops. I like really detailed figures, but none that break the bank (Some aren't so much as "Can I?" but "Should I?" and I always talk myself out of them).

I mostly use amiibo for displaying, but I have used them for games. The vast majority of the time, they're purely cosmetic. Though some of the amiibo related to the Zelda series are a bit more hands-on. The Wolf Link amiibo unlocks an extra dungeon on which you can save your progress, and Skyward Sword Zelda + her Loftwing allow the player to go back to the sky instantly. I have a couple of the Smash amiibo, but typically more limited time ones catch my eye.

Yeah, I should try to take a picture of one of the ponies I have. It's really cool to see at one point Funko did MLP figures that weren't Pops.

Cool, I don't have any of the Zelda amiibo, but I do remember using the Mario cereal box with Breath of the Wild on Wii U. XD (I still have it too) I did use the Splatoon ones with Splatoon on Wii U (I should try to play that again before the servers shut down), I did use the Sonic amiibo with Smash Bros, but I also used them for games like Mini-Mario and Friends Amiibo Challenge. I think the most Toys To Life thing I played was Disney Infinity, that was a fun sandbox game, amiibo, I used them for their respective games.

@Sunsy That's cool, I've seen bits and pieces of Sailor Moon as well, but not a whole lot of it. I can't remember though... wasn't that show on Toonami? I'm saying this because that was another part of Cartoon Network that showed anime during the evening/night. I caught parts of Dragon Ball Z on Toonami as well. I loved playing Star Fox 64 by the way... still have my childhood copy and I also have it on the Wii VC and NSO. Love your sweet pun, by the way. I simply had to get that doll for my aunt, lol! That's cool, it does sound like a cute show... I just remembered, I have a DVD of the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartoon that's the complete series. I used to have a couple VHS tapes of that show, but I no longer have them.

Thanks... they sure do! The Poppy and Branch plushies you've mentioned sound cute as well, especially with that magnet that lets them hold hands.

That's good, yeah I would think that the Fire Emblem games let you suspend your progress on any level as well. Haven't tried doing that yet though. I've heard of X and I've seen footage of it... it looks crazy-impressive for an original Game Boy game. I won't mind trying it out if it comes out on NSO as well. Heck, come to think of it, I'd love to see more Game Boy and GBA games come to NSO in general. Their current catalogs still seem... a bit small compared to what's featured on the NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis apps on NSO.

All righty... I'll let you know what I think when I eventually get to the Trolls movies. Just been very busy with things and Splatoon 3's been kind of dominating my free time, lol.

New name?

Yeah it was on Toonami, I remember watching Sailor Moon every day after school. Nowadays I can watch it anytime since I have some of the DVD sets. IIRC, Toonami was in the afternoon on Cartoon Network. Same with me, I have my old N64 copy, but I also have Star Fox 64 on Wii, Wii U, and 3DS (via the remake). Thanks, I couldn't resist the pun. Yeah, I always watched Strawberry Shortcake Berry Bitty Adventures as a comfort show. Just something easy and relaxing to watch. Nice, I think I have a Mario DVD somewhere. It was a collection of a couple of episodes.

They are, it's a rather cute thing they did to the Poppy and Branch set. There's a bit more to why, but if I said anything, I would be spoiling something from all three movies. So I won't say why, but it is a cute plush set.

I think I got to look up footage of X, the fact the Star Fox developer tried 3D on Game Boy always impressed me. It was more fun seeing hardware that wasn't meant to do 3D, actually do 3D. Agreed, I would love more Game Boy stuff to just appear on NSO in general.

Enjoy the movies when you get to them, I think you'll like the heart the series has. That's fine, I've been playing games too lately, mostly Disney Speedstorm (having a Little Mermaid themed season right now) and a few other games.

Thought I'd confirm to everyone here on the CC thread that I have indeed changed my Nintendo Life username. I used to be MarioLover92, now I'm MarioVillager92... the "Villager" part comes from a certain other Nintendo series. I made it so that it'd still be easy to see that it's still me. I was thinking of having my Animal Crossing villager as my profile picture as well... just gotta figure out what screenshot to use!

@Princess_Lilly Ohhh, gotcha. That's understandable. I know my reply's a bit late, so I hope everything's getting better on your end.

@Tyranexx Yeah that chocolate cake was really good indeed. I'd like to make it again, honestly. We still have the recipe since it's in one of our cookbooks. Fun fact, my mom has a lot of cookbooks. Hope your parents had nice birthdays... my mom's birthday is next month.

I think it was at Phazon Mines... there's this huge space pirate that I gotta fight, and it loves to spawn enemies which make the fight a huge pain to deal with. I do know what to do... problem is, I keep getting hit and game over'd by them. I'm enjoying Side Order, and without spoiling anything, I think I'm at the homestretch right now. That's fine, I definitely love the Splatoon series... so we're a bit different in that regard, lol. Recently I broke out of my comfort zone and played some anarchy battles, those are Splatoon 3's take on ranked battles. I also played the game's most recent challenge and surprisingly, I made it to the top 50% of players there.

Wow, really? I think I saw that Pinocchio had a similar situation. I saw a good first chunk of the Disney version (and my goodness, you have no clue how much it brought back memories for me) and in there, Pinocchio was curious about anything and everything... though I do remember that the movie can get quite dark as well. I've not read the original books or whatever, just the Disney versions. Speaking of books, I actually have a big hardcover book that features plots of many Disney films, all done in a storybook style. There was even a bit of lore in Cinderella's story that had not been touched upon in the movie, which had to do with Cinderella's name.

Nice, that does still sound like a great watch. It's been years since I've seen An American Tail (the first one), as well... so I'd also like to see that. Hopefully both are on streaming services. Yeah absolutely... I do like Mushu quite a lot, lol!

@Sunsy Yes indeed, I have a new username now. Now it shows that I like Animal Crossing, as well!

Nice, that's cool. I do remember that I used to have a Sailor Moon VHS tape that had a few episodes, if I recall correctly... but I no longer have it and I only watched it like once. Perhaps I somehow didn't get into it? It's been years though. I also have the first two seasons of My Hero Academia on blu-ray, my cousin got me into that anime back in 2019.

Absolutely... makes me wonder what kind of programming they did when they made X. I think the same dev studio made the Game Boy version of Race Drivin' as well, and that also looks impressive for the hardware. Decent framerate, too.

Thanks! Looks like I'm almost done with Side Order, without spoiling anything. Even went ahead and played some anarchy battles and a challenge in Splatoon 3's base game. Surprisingly, in the most recent challenge, I made it to the top 50% of players. It was the first time that happened to me so I felt good from it. Looks like you're enjoying Disney Speedstorm quite a bit, glad to hear... that reminds me, I should play more of Disney Dreamlight Valley sometime!
