@Link-Hero
Doesn't help that YouTube videos kinda defeat the purpose of home videos starting from the mid 00s. lol

Phew, I hadn’t “binge-played” a 3DS game in a long time, but Paper Mario has that effect on me. The dots on the map were connected, the stickers collected, the museum perfected, and the princess protected.

The game was overall fun. It did have it’s annoying moments, and at some point I got so lost I ended up playing the worlds out of order… because the fifth world was easier to figure out than the third and fourth. But I enjoyed the majority of my time playing.

I’m just missing four of the achievement flags… Though to be honest those achievements seem like a huge grind so I may consider the game completed as is.

I played Paper Mario Sticker Star 3DS and I like the sticker system that kinda like Magic system in FF VIII (disposable ability stickers).

I find it funny that I could remember Japanese character names better than I could remember Pokémon names while the inverse is true for many others who complained that Japanese names are too hard to remember. I'm not even Japanese btw, but I guess being Asian qualifies me enough to be more capable of memorizing Japanese names better than Americans/westerners...? Which is basically saying all Asians could automatically speak Japanese fluently... lol

I don't know. It's just this atmosphere of still treating the Japanese language and culture any different (sometimes with more disrespect) than other foreign languages/cultures like Spanish/Mexican/any western culture that bothers me.

I'm also pretty sure there's still a large number of people out there who aren't aware that Pokémon was originally a Japanese franchise.

Also, to be fair, a large number of Japanese Pokémon names are significantly harder to memorize than the English ones, I'll admit, but then you get names like Spear/Beedrill, Kamex/Blastoise, and my favorite one of all... Fire/Moltres. Yes, Fire is an actual Pokémon name in Japan.

Btw, I like Spear and Kamex a little more than their English counterparts. It just sounds more badass.

That makes me remember the people who would insert themselves into conversations on forums and youtube to “correct” people who used the english pokemon names… in reference to english pokemon media. Thankfully it’s been a long time since I’ve seen that happen, but it used to boggle my mind.

Like imagine a post going… “ah yeah bulbasaur is my favorite grass starter!”, and a reply under it going “you meant fushigidane* 😊”

Did anyone else ever see something like that?

(Note: not saying you’re being like that, your comment just moved that memory around)

@Fizza heh, if it means anything, I’m sure I would’ve been extremely disappointed had I played the game back when Paper Mario wasn’t just paper puns and toads. However, now the series has been like this for so long, I suppose I’m more receptive to what this game tried to do.

It’s absolutely not top three material. But it was still a fun little Paper Mario game.

"Famitsu Gives Soul Hackers 2 (38/40) A Higher Score Than Persona 5 Royal (37/40)"

That's not gonna be controversial at all. Nope. Not one bit. I don't see any reason why Persona fans should rage like they already did at the Steam forums...

I feel like those who get angry at this will forget that Famitsu gave the original Persona 5 39/40.

I realized this Hyness theme from Kirby Star Allies was sounds very Indonesian theme (Bali) from the gamelan, suling and angklung play.

Nintendo was sure got the inspiration from Indonesia when their employees have visited Bali or Java island.

The Switch games with "Indonesia" theme so far = Super Mario Odyssey (Lost Kingdom), Kirby Star Allies (Hyness theme), ACNH Happy Home Paradise (Plumeria flower, red & white Batik pattern, K.K. Marathon)

I wasn't aware that you could capture your 3DS on your TV using a capture card. That doesn't look like 4K though, which I'm guessing would make the resolution incredibly pixelated.

@Eel
Nah, that's not my 3DS in the photo (much as I want it to be); it's from the 3DS subreddit posted by another user. My 3DS XL is indeed modded, but not in a way that it could record 3DS footage either. lol

But yeah, I'd imagine the recording equipment would be expensive. I guess I might be able to afford it, considering I've already bought a N3DS XL from eBay, but I don't really do much recording to ever use it.

@Link-Hero America Funniest Home Videos, the original Jackass lol.

My parents never allowed my brother or I to watch it fearing that we would copy the stunts. I only got to watch it if I was at a friend's house or I snuck it.

I hope this isn't too controversial to talk about for the Mods here.

Yeah, same, and I'm from an Asian family too, and you know how strict those usually are. lol I think I remember them just leaving the modern AFV on (with Tom Bergeron because I was too young to have seen the Bob Saget one) and just go about their chores.

Stunt shows never really appealed to me as a kid. I just wanted to watch TeleToon Retro 24/7, I grew up with He-Man and Bugs Bunny reruns and Jim Henson films. Deep down I'm an 80s kid even though I was born in the early 00s, I remember watching VHS tapes and the few classic Disney films we had.

I saw Muppets Take Manhattan (the best one) in theatres as a Saturday classics thing my theatre did. I also saw The Dark Crystal that way too. (though they were not my first time seeing them)

@Maxenmus Yeah, 3ds can't output video unless you mod it. The video-out hardware/plug has to be added. Soldering is required, and also cutting a hole in the case to add a new plug (If I remember correctly).

Speaking of nostalgia and things past, I unearthed relics last night when I was looking for something.

On a similar subject, thinking about days past and being someone who love cartoons and animation, call it an unpopular opinion, but I think the past few years have been the best to be a fan of cartoons and animation.

Thinking back to my teen years, I remember it kind of sucked being a cartoon fan. Most character shirts were in mostly little kids sizes (as a teen, I could care less about the fashion trends, just wanted to wear characters I like), I had no one to talk to about the latest episode of Jimmy Neutron, and it was easy to get bullied for liking something that was pretty much made for kids.

Nowadays, I have no problem getting character shirts (actually wearing a Trolls one as I type this), I have friends to talk to about shows and movies with, and it's been years since getting made fun of for liking cartoons and animation.

The classic cartoons from the 80's, 90's and 2000's are great, and I do like watching them. In terms of being a fan, I think now is the best time based on personal experience. Just some thoughts I had on my mind.

@MarioLover92 Many would join out of fear, lol.

Yeah, the movie showing is around 9 AM, which means I have to get up extra early that day to eat breakfast and prepare myself. Thanks, I definitely will. Funnily enough I haven't watched Trolls World Tour since the last theater showing earlier this summer, just so the movie is fresh when I go to see it.

@Sunsy Those bring back memories. I never had a Wii when those were on shelves but I remember them on the Wal-mart gift card rack right next to the gum (I really liked gum when I was younger, strawberry kiwi was my favourite I can't believe I remember that).
