@KateGray Pretty much yeah. It's kind of annoying but you'll get used to it if you put the time into it. However, like I said earlier, the best way to learn would honestly be to just go in guns blazing and seeing how far you can get. A few tips I would recommend include:
Using the slam move often. Performed by hitting down on the stick/d-pad whilst in the air, you slam down to the ground instantly. Not only is this handy for getting around long, downward vertical stretches but another property it has is stunning any enemies hit by it. In groups, it's absolutely deadly so use it to your advantage (just.... don't use it over bottomless pits).
When you get your two weapons at the start of your run, you can switch which one you're currently using through the menu, allowing you to freely switch the one which will be most handy in your current situation. The same goes for your sub weapon (ZL/ZR) so mix and match away.
When starting out Dead Cells, make sure to comb through each area as thoroughly as possible. It isn't too necessary once you get further acquainted with how it flows, but at the beginning you'll want to get as many scrolls as possible so you can give them to the cell collector in order to get new weapons, perks, etc. It worked like a charm on my first few runs so that would be my recommendation.
That's all the ones I can list off the top of my head but I promise that if you stick with it, Dead Cells can easily become a new addiction (I swear it was the only thing I was playing back in February last year). And hey: if all else fails, there's no shame in looking up a guide.

@BruceCM It really depends on where someone is at, though satellite internet is an option for most who can afford it...and who won't be streaming or downloading things constantly.
@Fizza Darn, hopefully your illness is a short one. Hope you feel better soon!
@MarioLover92 Congrats on beating Kirby and the Forgotten Land! That one is on my radar for sure, though I'll likely dump it on my birthday list. I'm more focused on picking up my Wii U and 3DS eShop stragglers for now (and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in July).
I think Rosalina'a story is why I like the first Super Mario Galaxy better than the second game. That, plus I preferred the Comet Observatory as a hub vs. Starship Mario. If the Galaxy games had released a few years later, I'm sure SMG2 would've only existed as DLC you could purchase. I love animals, even the ones a lot of people won't handle/tolerate, but cats are definitely in my top ten! They definitely helped influence my fondness for *Super Mario 3D World.
@Sunsy I deal with Linux servers and/or commands at my job, though it's rare. I'm no expert by any means, but I have much of the basic command line lingo down. I still use some open source software since it can be decent...though not always the most optimal. Namely Notepad++ and the LibreOffice suite. The latter makes a decent basic Microsoft Office alternative...other than the fact that some of the formatting saved via .csv doesn't always translate well to MS.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
To be fair though, I think Pokemon Shield knows when I'm sick because every time I go on it when I'm under the weather, I end up getting a shiny. Last time it was the 750 egg Shelmet and this time it was a random Rhyperior on the Isle of Armor! Not full odds like my last random encounter shiny in Araquanid since I now have the Shiny Charm but still: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
(I'll actually be getting Let's Go Pikachu in the coming weeks so I might go for a trio: Rhyhorn in Legends, Rhydon in Let's Go and Rhyperior in SwSh. That sounds very fun actually)

I just remembered once when me and my family went on a local mine/cave tour. When we got there, we did the whole check in thing then went down some stairs to a briefing room, then when putting my helmet on the tour guide (the dude was around 79 I think) came up to me and asked me if I would be a example of a (I think the term is coal boy don't quote me on that) miner boy. Since I was around the age they'd normally back in the day send to the mines. I said yes and when we started the tour the tour guide told me to look down the HUGE tunnel and say what I thought if I were a boy on his first day... I said terrified, and then we went on with the tour, it was great and to show you the tunnel (it was sunny btw when we went) and other parts, here's a video from the website (don't worry I live nowhere near there) I hope you enjoy if you do watch it.
And if you ever want some cool history look Cape Breton up!
edit in the video the man has a strong Cape Breton accent...
@Tyranexx I think Galaxy 2 would've been a dual release (DLC and physical) like NSLU if it released a few years later. Mario, Zelda and Splatoon seems to be the franchises Nintendo go out of their way to preserve even in the DLC era. For example:
NSLU got a physical version and later a physical bundle of both NSMBU + NSLU
Mario Kart 8 got DLC -> MK8 Deluxe has the Wii U DLC on the cart
BotW got a physical Switch version with the game + expansion pass on the cart
Splatoon 2 got a physical Switch version with the game + Octo Expansion on the cart
Splatoon 2 got a bunch of Splatoon 1 maps and Splatoon 3 has a map from Splatoon 1 confirmed that didn't come to Splatoon 2
Honestly makes me think perhaps NSMB2 will be ported to Switch with all the DLC given 3DS is shutting down in March and the last 2D Mario was 3 years ago.
@Sunsy I still have yet to get Half-Genie Hero. That one's pretty good, huh?
Ah yeah, come to think of it, I think I got the Peach and Springtime Yoshi themes from My Nintendo. That Spotlight Mario theme, I just bought from the theme shop when it first came out back in 2014.
Yeah, Planet Robobot came out in 2016, so it was a pretty late 3DS release. That was before the Switch was even announced, IIRC.
Hmm, I don't remember, probably...I haven't paid much attention to that. I know they have those Disney Magical World games on the 3DS and Switch, I do remember that one of them was featured on a Nintendo Direct long ago.
@Tyranexx Thank you! Really glad I've finished it. That'd be a good birthday present for you for sure. That's cool, I should still get around to beating Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - along with Torna - so I can look forward to getting XC3!
That's cool, I think I like SMG1 a bit more than its sequel too, I think I like its overall atmosphere more and that game left quite the impression back when it was released in 2007. I do like SMG2 as well, and it is a bit more challenging than its predecessor. That's great, I do love animals in general too - especially ones you'd see in forests (rabbits, squirrels, and owls for example). And of course, I love cats, too.
@Fizza No problem - that's awesome you're feeling a lot better now.

@Grumblevolcano
I already have Mario Galaxy 2 Wii version so I don't need the Switch version as I still haven't finished yet the game (currently at World 5) 😅
@MarioLover92
I really hope Bandai Namco will make games like Kinect Disneyland Adventures XBOX 360 or Go Vacation sequel on Switch.
I really like games with a place like a giant resort where you can free roaming, explore the beauty of the places, experience with some outdoor activities + mini games and customizations.
Oh, btw. How was Kirby and the Forgotten Island from your experiences?
If I remembered there was like Fun Park place over there and what is that for ?
@Fizza Glad you're feeling a little better. Congrats on the shiny Rhyperior! That's one of the better shiny designs IMO.
@Grumblevolcano Fair point, a dual release is/was also a possibility. I was among those who was confused why SMG2 wasn't included in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars bunch, which certainly would add more points to your hypothesis.
Also, to add to your list, there was a limited time release of Pokemon Sword/Shield with all the DLC included on the cart.
@MarioLover92 I've mentioned this in here before, but I'm also trying to work through a few older Kirby games (which compose about half of my eShop pickups) first before picking up FL. Not all of them, just the "best" of the bunch up until this point. I'm currently playing through Torna, but it's slow going since I'm still playing Azran Legacy and admittedly haven't been up to gaming for some of this week.
The atmosphere in SMG1 is better, and tbh plot-wise SMG2 feels like a retread of the first game. It's a minor complaint since the main series Mario platformers aren't exactly plot winners lol. That said, SMG2 is still an excellent game and well worth playing. Forest animals in general are great! Though nothing where I am is known to eat humans lol. We very rarely hear of a migrating black bear, but they're more preoccupied with getting from point A to point B than causing trouble.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
@Anti-Matter Kirby and the Forgotten Land is fantastic, really enjoyed my time with it! I haven't 100%'d it as of this post, but I do give it a solid recommendation nonetheless. That world you're referring to is Wondaria, it's one of the worlds in this game and it's a fun one for sure. It's got some of my favorite levels in the game, too.
@Tyranexx Oh that's cool you're working through those Kirby games before getting to FL. I'm hoping to get to Torna in due time, just a matter of when I finish XC2. Absolutely, SMG2 is indeed excellent, especially considering what they set out to do for it - having more galaxies for Mario to go through.
Yeah, in my local nature trail, I'd see squirrels, chipmunks, and even geese walking around. There's actually two nature trails in my area, and they're next to a river, which may explain why geese like to hang out around there. I don't recall seeing any black bears in my area, but I've sometimes seen deer.

Well, my parents don't download or stream much, @Tyranexx .... Just emails & looking up crossword clues or stuff like that, so their internet is good enough for them
If we're all talking about Linux, my favourite is Mint & I liked having the KDE desktop with it. But I hardly do much on my PC other than games, emails & browsing, so there's no point having that alongside Windows which is still a lot better for the main purpose
I got some good news about getting XBOX 360 machine and it changed my initial plan.
I have visited my local game repair shop and after some discussion, the owner over there could provide me a White colored XBOX 360 Slim with White Kinect sensor (hopefully he could find it) + White XBOX 360 controller with cheaper budget price from my initial plan and I can take it home next week after I got my salary if everything according to the plan.
I will ask him to keep the RGH inside the XBOX 360 machine as I just only need that mod to bypass region lock so I can play XBOX 360 All region , yet my XBOX 360 games collection are Original copies.
Wish me luck.
@BruceCM I’m not subscribed but Obi-Wan Kenobi releases next week, so do look forward to that.
Other than that… pretty much anything and everything. The entire MCU’s presumably up there (save for Spider-Man stuff), plus all the classic movies. You’re in for a decent time, methinks.
Thanks, I've somewhat lost track of all the stuff Disney seem to have these days, @TheJGG .... I'll try to look at the catalogue now I've set it all up
