I've not bothered to watch the live action Disney movies (though for very specific reasons, I'll try to get through the Lion King one soon-ish...). They offend me just by what they represent, which is the idea that live action is the "important" and "better" and "more mature" art form. The fact that they mostly just seem like garbage films that are both stupid and half the time not even fun completely justifies by biases.

TBH, The Lion King is actually my least favorite live-action remake. For me, it's because of how "photo-realistic" it looks, which kind of takes away the spirit of the original Lion King in the remake. π€
That being said, I do like the other Disney live-action remakes that have been released.
What gives you the impression that the live-action remakes are more "important", "better" and have a "more mature" art form than the animated films? π€
Well, if you haven't seen them, how do you know they're "garbage" films? π€
Please give Ninjala a chance, guys. π€
As @Sunsy said,
Ninjala Gang FOR LIFE!
Also, if I don't respond to your post within a day (or two), don't worry, I'm not ignoring you. I'm going to be busy, though I will do my best to respond in a timely fashion.
@Snatcher A lot of Hololive and Nijisanji Vtubers are being banned. There are three theories right now: 1. she was accidentally mistaken for a bot. She posted quite a lot of tweets about a karaoke stream and that was right before she was banned. 2. Some Vtubers were getting a little political on Twitter, and Mio might have been banned in the wake of it. She didn't tweet anything political tho. 3. some people are throwing around the possibility that Twitter wants to censor them due to them being Japanese and doesn't fit their Western agenda.
I think Mio was probably just banned for the first reason and the other two are just coincidences or fan-theories.

I enjoy a lot Aladdin 2019 live action with Will Smith as Genie.
The best live action adaptation in my opinion, even better than the cartoon version.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand I need to watch both of those. While I've seen many Pixar movies, I haven't gotten around to many of their more recent offerings unfortunately. Pretty sure the last one I watched in theaters was The Incredibles 2.
@SM3DASislit I try not to stress over my own backlog too much; at the end of the day it's a hobby, not a to-do list lol. I look at my backlog management as a challenge, both to play what I do have and to help control my finances (though games are only a small fragment of that equation). I probably spend a few hundred bucks a year on games on average, but I know there are people who sink much, MUCH more into the hobby.
I love Wreck-It Ralph! The movie is a wonderful love letter to the gaming medium. I liked the sequel movie too, but it wasn't QUITE as good lol. As for Big Hero 6, it's surprising that I HAVEN'T seen it since I do like various hero/villain universes. I might give it a watch via borrowing or a sub and grab the DVD if I really like it.
No problems with responding to me at all. Jump on in! And using that Maui meme is fine as long as it isn't every other post or so.
@Heavyarms55 I did use Dunban somewhat as an agility tank, though overall I preferred Reyn. My Shulk also seemed to draw aggro a lot depending on the arts he used and the encounter.
@ThanosReXXX Nah, I don't normally drink coffee (or any source of caffeine really) that late in the day; it was about 4 PM when I posted that. Actually, I don't typically drink caffeine on the weekends in general. I'm sure it has something to do with waking up naturally vs. relying on an alarm....
@theJGG Wait a minute, they canned Mushu? How on Earth was he a controversial character? That alone makes me even more reluctant to watch the movie....And they made Mulan a type of god or magical being? What was wrong with her being made an extraordinary person through her own hard work and effort? Good grief, the original movie was such an inspiration to me as a kid....I'll Make A Man Out Of You is still one of my favorite Disney numbers.
@MarioLover92 I played it for the first time this summer. A few very minor issues aside, XC:DE is hands down one of the best JRPGs I've played to date.
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet DLC, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)
AHHHH! I just found out DOOM Eternal had an easter egg referencing the amazing Korone (the girl in my icon). That's so amazing that a AAA game referenced her!
@Tyranexx Agreed. Loved Xenoblade Chronicles 2 as well, though I have yet to beat it. I like both XC1 and 2 pretty much equally - didn't spend too much time with XCX as of this writing, but from what I've played it's pretty good.
Oh yeah, I loved Wreck-It Ralph as well, I have it on blu-ray. Never saw the sequel though.
"Give yourself the gift of being joyfully you."
Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! β€οΈ
@Tyranexx I think it was to do with the Chinese audiences disliking him. The dragon is a very respected mythical figure in China, and to have him portrayed as a comedic sidekick might have felt insulting to the Chinese. Personally I think that made the movie even more soulless, but I can see why they did it.
They also made the choice to split Li Shang (Milanβs superior officer love interest) into two characters. One was the mentor like Donnie Yen, and the other was a hotshot newbie who falls in love with Mulan. Personally I really liked Li Shangβs entire dynamic with Mulan, because it was obvious he was falling for her even when he still thought Mulan was male. Heβs regarded as something of a bisexual icon in film today, and he sent out a nice message. But because of #MeToo he doesnβt exist anymore. Again I understand the reasoning but I think that one of the best characters in the movie was deleted for no absolutely valid reason.
And as for the songs, the director thought it would be silly for people to break into song during war. So there are no songs! Or rather no songs with lyrics. Only instrumental songs. Some lyrics are referenced in passing dialogue but I found it corny and almost silly that theyβd backtrack like that. Nice references but honestly. No joke I began singing along with Li Shang once I heard βIβll Make a Man Out of Youβ. Disney songs are that infectious and I love them.
And by god, I meant she was born with magical powers which takes away any kind of character development. A poor choice, that seems to exist only to use flashy CGI.
@SM3DASislit I can understand your reasons for liking the film, and if I was a bit younger Iβd agree! But especially in since 2018 theyβve felt like cashgrabs. They feel overcomercialised and donβt really do much different from the original material. Despite sitting down to watch Mulan, I will never watch the 2019 Lion King, especially after hearing how derivative it is of the original. Even the opening sequence was a pretty much a shot for shot remake.
@Anti-Matter Once every few months Iβll deliberately watch a bad movie to see why it is bad, so I can complain about it later on. I began criticising Mulan after finishing the movie, and the next morning I read some reviews which ended up saying the exact same stuff I was. TheJGG, movie critic! Stay tuned!
No, but Iβm not a fan of blind hate for something. Unless something is so bad that I decide I wonβt put myself though it, Iβll try and find out what itβs like so I can make an educated opinion on it. I donβt hate Mulan only because it was inferior to the 1998 version. I hate it because of the dubious production, and the way it handles story elements and characters.
The Princess and the Frog is an excellent movie, I agree. Disney are always able to come up with great settings for their animated films and thatβs something I truly respect. The two men who directed it, Ron Clements and John Musker, directed The Little Mermaid so they know their stuff. I saw that when I was three, and was initially embarrassed to say that I loved it, but have grown into it. Disneyβs now a small part of my childhood.
Everyone, God forbid Disney make a live action Little Mermaid film. OH WAIT.
@theJGG
Ariel will be literally nude after being transformed into human by Ursula if the Live Action does exist. Can't imagine the realistic 3D Sebastian and Flounder too.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand Sorry... you could have asked before I wrote a nine paragraph rant on Mulan! But very true, I can't see live-action Disney movies being as original and creative as before now.
