@Tyranexx I'm currently at the beginning of chapter 10. I finished watching the cutscene where Shulk beats Metal Face and finds out that Fiora's alive. That's where I saved my game last night.

@theJGG I haven't heard of Schaffrillas Productions, but I believe I'll give that channel a look. Thanks for the recommendation! I don't mind the Tamatoa references either; he's one of the better villains to come out of the more recent movies IMO, though he didn't have a ton of screen time. I might be slightly biased towards Shiny, however.

I haven't seen the live-action Mulan movie. No Disney+ subscription aside, I was burned horribly by The Lion King remake. It wasn't bad per se, but it felt...unnecessary. They also neutered one of my favorite Disney villain songs. I haven't seen all the live-action Disney remakes, but most I have seen range from somewhat decent (namely the ones with more original content, like Maleficent, and I did like Beauty and the Beast), to meh. I don't know if I want to see it as I love the original Mulan and don't want that ruined for me either.

@Heavyarms55 I used Shulk as a backup tank for some party setups. Usually when I was just messing around, not so much for story events. Reyn was my de facto tank most of the time. Though Seven built right doesn't make a bad pseudo-tank either.

@MarioLover92 Ah yes, that reveal. Definitely an awesome twist, though one I (sort of) knew about/guessed going in. I didn't have much else spoiled for me thankfully.

I've watched that Tamatoa guy before. I like his reviews.

@Tyranexx Eww, Mulan's Live-Action remake is terrible. Feel lucky that you didn't watch it and instead watch a Pixar movie like Soul or Onward.

Sorry to bud in on your conversation, but you guys seem confused regarding joining friends in Spatfests, so I wanted to help you out.
That being said, you can just have the two of you join a battle together, the rest of the team will be random people, and then it's the usual after that. (So it's like how Salmon Run is done). I've done this my friend a few times (the most recent we did that was the "Final" Splatfest).
I hope this helps you out.

Okay, that's cool. Sounds like you're quite busy with it. All jobs (unfortunately) have annoying (or dragging) parts, but it seems like you like your job (unless I somehow missed something). It's always good to have fun co-workers (as long as they get their part done), especially if a job is more boring (or tough).

Huh, interesting. We all have different tastes no matter what it's for. I mean, other people think that baseball is the slowest (or lamest) sport, so it just depends on the person. Boxing was a fun addition to the Olympics. Yeah, I've never cared for UFC (or WWE), as it's either brutal like you said (UFC), or it's "acting", from what I've heard (WWE). I also just don't care for sports, outside of the Olympics.
Yay, that's good that Indonesia has been recognized in the Olympics since 2008 (at least for Mario & Sonic). That's odd that the other Olympic Games with humans didn't Indonesia as a country option, as I believe (IIRC) both the Olympic Games and Mario & Sonic series are made by Sega.

True, I just feel like people should be taught (or directed to somewhere) how to manage their backlogs, especially if they have trouble with it.
I do, although Wreck-it Ralph is my favorite CG Disney movie, Moana is definitely up towards in regards to favorite Disney movies.
Also, am I using that meme too much? I try not to use it too often on here, so I hope I'm not using it too much.
I also like Big Hero 6 and would recommend it. (especially if you like Marvel/DC movies or just superhero movies in general).
I've also seen most of the live-action remakes as well.
(I know it wasn't in your response, but since people are talking about it currently, I decided to throw this in as well).

@SM3DASislit Big Hero 6 is one of my all time favourite movies in general. The animation is absolutely fabulous, and all the characters seem to really blend with one another. The story and writing is also very heartwarming, even if the twist villain could have been better. By all means, please throw your hat into the ring! How did you like them? Did they have enough new ideas to warrant even existing? Or were they soulless cash cows that were made only to rip people off for their nostalgia?

They started okay at first for me, and have progressively gotten worse. Mulan was one of the most awful movies I've ever seen in my life, and I came up with that opinion without even watching the original. A few days after watching that movie I sat down and watched the original, for reference. It made the new one look like a fake. And a fake is fake no matter how much you dress it up. It was so pathetically derivative of the original, and tried so hard, and too hard, to be politically correct, and shot itself in the foot a good few dozen times. Mushu may have been "controversial" (I literally don't know why, is it because of Eddie Murphy's humorous soulful acting?) but why did they get rid of him and replace the very idea of his character with a literal kite. It's an insult and a dishonour to him, his family and his cow!

And the female villain could have been an OK idea, but was handled poorly. "We're not so different, you and I", she says to Mulan (paraphrased), which is the absolute last resort when trying to make a half decent movie. And Mulan herself has her entire story arc disintegrated, because of the fact that she doesn't start off as a mortal trying to bring honour to her family. In the remake she has always had the power of qi (pronounced chi, but it's spelt qi, like the game show!) and this doesn't allow her to become an inspiration to young girls. Heroes aren't born, they're made. But Mulan was born a literal god, so who cares?

@Tyranexx Reyn and Dunban were my tanks. While Reyn is a traditional tank, Dunban can "agility tank" very well!

Never even considered using Shulk as a tank. But I guess you can give him aggro drawing gems and heavy armor.

@theJGG I'd most definitely argue the point of "heroes aren't born", because even in my own circle of friends and acquaintances, I've seen some who have always been heroes, either to me or to somebody else. Some people just have it in them, like it's basically the very core of their being, and you can't raise that or manufacture it, unless in some abstract, brainwash-y kinda way like with special forces. Natural born heroism definitely does exist, though.

@SM3DASislit Thanks! I found that out when I was reading Nintendo's support website, but it's always good to have some confirmation. I tried joining a friend in a match a few years ago, but I couldn't meet up. Also I do have a question. Does it matter if you and your friend pick the same/different sides in a Splatfest?

And about that Sega thing. Yeah I've known that they discontinued the Sega Ages line...that was disappointing news. Why stop there, Sega??? I could've been playing Daytona USA by now.

@theJGG LOL wow. I can't imagine playing Xenoblade without side quests. You must have to grind a bunch to make up the experience difference.

@ThanosReXXX Some people can be truly amazing human beings from the get go and that is an amazing quality. It’s just that in a fictional story there’s only one way a hero is born a hero, if they’re some kind of chosen one whose destiny is preordained since birth. The new Mulan seems to fall victim to this trope, and makes their messages of strength, power and determination weaker. Not everybody is born with the power of Qi, in fact nobody is! The original Mulan didn’t have those powers and it was easier to relate to her as a human. That’s what made that character special. (As mentioned earlier I watched both movies in September for the first time, so there’s neither recency bias nor nostalgia bias!) Shame they went down that route.

One thing I forgot to touch on was the highly controversial production of the movie. Some sequences were filmed near Chinese concentration camps, which is insulting to the prisoners... also Liu Yifei supported the Hong Kong police brutality...

@Heavyarms55 Correct! My playthoughs on Wii were hours longer than they had to be because I didn’t do any quests. And the ones I did, like the Monado Armour quest line, was tedious! The addition of Casual Mode, combined with the quest item tracking, was a godsend. And I vowed to complete every single quest I found when starting on Switch and sure enough I was a bit over levelled. Zero grinding too!

Pretty much most of the recent animated Disney films are pretty good. (IMO) I actually like the live-action remakes, and I'm fine with them existing as long as they don't prevent "original" movies from being made.
Sorry to hear that you haven't been liking the remakes as much as you were before. I actually liked the Mulan remake, while the original is still better, I don't dislike the remake. The reason why the Mulan remake is different from the original is that the director said they wanted to have the remake be more authentic to the Chinese tale of Mulan, as the original wasn't authentic enough to the tale, which annoyed the Chinese audience a lot.
I thought the female villain was a good villain. I also thought it was interesting how she "pulled a Darth Vader" with saving Mulan near the end.

It's always nice to have confirmation for things we're unsure of. I believe Splatoon 1 didn't have the option to join friends in Splatfest (IIRC), and I believe Splatoon 2 added that option in an update. I think it does matter, and I believe both of you have to be on the same team, but I'm entirely sure. You might want to ask in the Splatoon 2 Forum.

Yeah, it definitely stinks that they discontinued it. Sega's just pulling a "Sega" again, I guess. Something interesting I saw a while ago, is that Sega said if the SEGA AGES was successful enough they would consider putting Saturn and Dreamcast games on the SEGA AGES line.

I thought Mulan 1998 version was better than the Live action version.
I thought Mulan 2020 version was flat, boring and pokerface almost the entire movie after i found some cutscenes from Youtube. Glad i didn't watch the movie.
Disney don't have to make their adaptation version exactly like from actual fairy tales or actual literatures, just improvize with some interesting things and it will looks better or more interesting than the actual fairy tales / literatures.

If you remember The Princess and The Frog from Disney, the Disney version was completely different than actual story of The Princess and the Frog.
The Disney version use a dark skinned young girl Tiana as a hardworker restaurant maid became a frog after kissing a frog which actually prince Naveen who has been cursed by Shadowman and his butler became a phony prince Naveen to marry Charlotte. The Disney version use 1920's era of New Orleans with jazz music style, Voodoo withdoctors (Dr. Facilier and Mama Odia), dark skinned couples, contrary with actual fairy tales version with setting at medieval era, witchcraft, medieval folks.
I prefer the Disney version very much than the actual fairy tales version. It was different but still maintain the similarity by different way.
The thing that made me cry from The Princess and the Frog was Ray's death (that little firefly). I literally drop my tears everytime i saw him closed his eyes and exhale the final breath, died in peace after being crushed by Dr. Facilier. 😢

I also agree that the animated Mulan (1998) is better than the live-action remake, but I still like the live-action remake, though.
It honestly depends with Disney if they do that or not, as they sometimes follow the tales/legends (Moana). and sometimes they don't follow it as much or put their own spin on it. (Mulan 1998, Hercules, Princess & the Frog, like you said), and others.
I didn't know that Princess & the Frog was altered from the fairy tale, although it doesn't surprise me.
Sounds like they had a mixture of "pulling" from the fairy tale, throwing in some historical things like using Jazz (and other things like it), and coming up with own stuff for it as well.
You also might to put some of the things you said under spoilers, I know it's a 10+ year-old movie, but there might be some people who haven't seen it (Don't worry, I've seen it, I just wanted to let you know).
