@NEStalgia Yeah, I know you do, and honestly, what with the amounts of snow that you guys are getting over there, even in and near big cities, it would more than likely also annoy me, but over here, we either only get a small layer of snow, which is condensed into a grey, wet slush within the space of a day, both by all the traffic and pedestrians, or we get no snow at all, but just cold, wet rain instead, which also isn't exactly like a great thing to have in winter time...
Worst thing about the grey slush is that when it freezes over during the night, all the sidewalks are slippery as hell, making it quite the annoying chore to move around on.
@ThanosReXXX I've been luckily scathing all the snow so far this year....which I'm grateful for. So more like Amsterdam weather this year so far. But it's only December. Unless it's an epic snow year, the big stuff CAN happen January, but mostly happens February and these days, through March. But January tends to be bitter cold where even in daytime temps don't rise above freezing for weeks on end and the ground becomes a hard cement even without snow. And of course the morning commute is when it's in single digits and teens in Fahrenheit ever day.
Is it spring yet?
Not that cold rain is a good thing, and worse if it becomes freezing rain....but we tend to get that heavy wet snow, than then gets rained on, and then we get temps in the single digits and the whole thing becomes glacier-like rock pack, with daily refreeze due to salt melting from the roads. And it doesn't dissipate until April because ice pack like that tends to stay hard even in 90 degrees.
But yeah, I do know that salt-induced daily refreeze.
I could have used that flame thrower earlier today. I stopped at one of my favorite junk shops for a Christmas gift today, and stumbled across these nightmares:
I’m 100% positive they were once real people. They were probably eight inches tall and came in their own rocking chairs. Pretty sure the only way to keep them from haunting me is to post a pic of them on the internet so they can choose someone else.

As for those dolls: the stuff of nightmares, for sure. We could use @NEStalgia's flamethrower for that.
They look like Chucky's parents or something similar. So weird how people sometimes make dolls with the best of intentions, and they turn out all creepy like that.

I'm not, nor have ever been a huge fan of dolls, dummies, etc. I'm not scared of them, their place in the uncanny valley just makes me kinda uncomfortable. Using a flamethrower on them sounds refreshing.
@NintendoByNature Yep, our overnight amount didn't turn out to be too bad. Some of it was sleet though. The round that rolled in late this morning is adding to the pile. I came home and finished my work day remotely. The roads were going downhill fast. I'm gonna have a heck of a time shoveling in the morning....

Funny that you mentioned the Donner Party. I hadn't heard anything about that particular series of events until it was obscurely referenced in a Recess episode I watched online awhile back. Fascinating yet grisly.

@ThanosReXXX What makes me even luckier is I work remote tomorrow (to take care of other things), so I can stay up a bit later tonight. I shall swash all the poop and buckle the decks!! Onward to Charleston!!

@ThanosReXXX - Oh yeah, it’s incredible to think that someone was probably so proud when they made those things, and rightly so. Yet, here they are, probably long since outlived their creator; making new nightmares for anyone who happens to get sucked into their gaze.
The dentist put some sort of cotton ball in its place to cover the wound up as it healed, it's obviously meant to be a temporary band-aid type thing but it stayed there for a few weeks longer than he said it would. Anyway, today, it popped out as I was brushing my teeth and boy I wasn't ready for that. It's probably good it is gone now, but sheesh.
Now I have a hole where the cotton was, my tongue can lick parts of my teeth it shouldn't be able to, and it creates suction, and it's all around unpleasant being aware of it all the time.
Hopefully it'll start closing up soon enough. Now I gotta figure how to eat without getting food stuck there.

Or all joking aside, might come from the whole social/timid thing you've got going on. Then again: that shouldn't apply in a museum, unless it's also in effect in general crowds/public.
@HobbitGamer I'm actually in a bit of a piratey mood myself: the Dutch outlet of the History Channel has started broadcasting Black Flag again. Such a great series.
@bimmy-lee Makes me think of that movie about the elderly pair somewhere in the South, taking in a young girl, who discovers secrets in a room upstairs. I believe it was "The Skeleton Key" or something.
