Squid is wonderful. I feel slightly bad eating Callie, but only slightly.
@KarateLuigi not with the physical reactions and not as severe, but I'm exactly the same with sound, otherwise. And the more intrusive the modern world becomes, the worse it gets.
Random throw-in: Calamari? Count me in! There's nothing like fried calamari rings with garlic sauce! Man, it's been way too long since I had those... the only restaurant I know which offered them has removed all seafood dishes from their menu years ago (no idea why and I don't think I'd want to know). You can still get them frozen but they're not nearly as good.
Belated, but best wishes to your little fuzzball, @NotTelevision here's hoping for a swift recovery!

Sucks to see animals getting older and getting winded so easily. Those squirrels aren’t getting any easier to catch either. Hope he gets a surprise for you one day.
Had my family’s dog bring a couple of birds in the house when I was a kid.The dog’s proud expression contrasted with my mom’s shock, is something I’ll never forget. 😆
Yeah I think a lot of restaurants just serve you the frozen bag. I’m not against frozen meats in all cases, but you can definitely take the difference with calamari. Freezer burn doesn’t do them any favors either.
@NotTelevision Yeah, Jack is certainly a King in his own right. Just slowly walks deliberately like an elephant and sits straight up with that eye of Sauron looking through everything.
@bimmy-lee Yeah, don't like oysters much, either, but other than that, it certainly seems that we have comparable tastes in sea food. In fact, because of all this talk of sea food, I decided to have a salmon filet for dinner today...
@Silly_G Mind you, it's not that it's a matter of me ONLY liking hot drinks. I have even drank the odd ice tea every now and then, in the summer, but ice coffee just wasn't something that agreed with me. I tried it, but I didn't like it, so besides that ice tea, I only drink tea and coffee in the original, or rather: traditional way.
@NEStalgia Well, world of antiquities... That's the tourist view. If you live here, and you know your way around, then you'll know that Amsterdam is actually a rather interesting mix and match of old and new. The old is never going to be leveled or disappear, though: it's protected material, and pretty much all of it is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. But like I said, it's a mix, and an interesting one. The city is built up from rings of city walls and canals, and over the ages, rings have been added, the outer ones obviously being the newer ones.
In the newer ones, you'll find anything from post-WWII worker's cottages to high rises, sky scrapers, and more green areas with separated houses and gardens. And in the center, there's also plenty of new builds, but all somehow fitting and with respect for the old, so it's an amalgam that somehow works pretty well together.
What was so scary about Calamari rings, @ThanosReXXX .... ?
Well, I was 10 when my parents first let me try them, and they told me what it was before eating, so yeah...
I tried escargots once, and never again. Slimy, disgusting, curled my tongue right up. Some stuff just isn't suitable for eating, far as I'm concerned. I'm willing to try just about anything once, but that is where I draw the line with stuff like that.
@bimmy-lee I hope you do know that lobsters don't make the whistling noise themselves, right? When I was little, some "funny" guy I used to know, told me that the lobsters scream because they're getting cooked alive, but it's just air building up inside their shell, which escapes under pressure and then makes a whistling sound, pretty much like a kettle with boiling water.
@NotTelevision Sad to hear about your cat. Hope he's adjusting well enough and that the damage will be completely repaired once the cast comes off.
@Anti-Matter Some nice coloring on your drawings there, as usual. My compliments.
On a side note: I did kind of expect to see a reply to my comment concerning the doppelganger subject, seeing as I took the time and trouble to look up some information for you, so it would have been nice to have seen that acknowledged, much like with the insect light to which you also never replied. A little courtesy goes a long way, my friend.
@NintendoByNature Those fried calamari rings sound pretty darn good. I've mostly eaten them when on holiday in Spain, and the recipe there is pretty much the same as in Italy, also with generous helpings of garlic, and a sauce not all too different from marinara, so count me in.
@NintendoByNature Haha, yeah. Have to resist that urge myself as well. Seeing as it's Saturday, I think I'm just going to mix myself a Bacardi & Coke, and make my semi-healthy snack plate with some chorizo, cheese, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. @bimmy-lee knows what that looks like...
'The console wars are like boobs: Sony and Microsoft fight over which ones look the nicest and Nintendo's are the most fun to play with.'
I bought a powerbank that is thin enough to fit with the switch lite in the same case, and good enough to charge it while I play (not that I plan to do that!).
It was a bit expensive for the capacity, but it's really very convenient to have it always around.
@BruceCM Yeah, well... I guess it all depends on what you're used to, and maybe even how you were brought up, so for me as a young kid, it was quite a thing.

@ThanosReXXX we actually have a pork roast in the crock pot Now, which sounds decent on this cold gloomy and rainy Saturday in Chicago. But your snack plate sounds delish,I've seen it before. As for me and my drink of choice tonight, some cabernet. I'm out of beer, So vino it is lol.
@NintendoNature Hey, never say no to a good vino, right?
But when I'm at home, it's always Bacardi & Coke in the weekend, so I'll always make sure to have a bottle in storage. Did forget to buy Coke once or twice, so one time, I just drank it pure on the rocks, and one other time,
I had to get it at the 7-11, which obviously cost me twice as much as the regular super market, but that was on me, for forgetting about it.
@HobbitGamer Good, saves me the trouble of setting you straight myself...
I'll double-check with Spongebob to make absolutely sure, though...
@bimmy-lee We had another stink bait victim last night. Apparently the aftereffects lingered for a little while. XD
@KarateLuigi Yep, that's just it; conversation filtering. It used to not be such a problem when I was a kid, but somehow I lost the ability to filter out most noise and recede into my own head in most instances. White noise, unless it's a type of high-pitched whining or something, actually is easier to tune out.
I've trained myself to not flinch at most loud noises, though sudden ones don't always bother me. If a loud noise is constant for a period of time, I will plug my ears. I can't do them long-term, like in a construction area or at a demolition derby.
@ThanosReXXX oh i knew it was a mix of old and new. I actually have a hard time picturing it as anything other than new actually.
And that's of course a proper City. With planning. That's the problem here. The old (which means older than 40 years) is demolished to make way for new. And new is always posh and exclusive. But there's no planning. At all. There used to be zoning... This area is commercial retail, this area commercial industrial, this area residential. But instead the zoning is just changed for whomever pays for it. So an ny hot shot luxury living builder wants to convert a shopping center to housing they just pay off the officials, rezone it, and before you know it is a wasteland of nothing but luxury homes for an hour in any direction. Anyone with money to build anything just builds whatever they want wherever they want, and right now, luxury living is where the money is. No planning for quality of life, transportation, or anything else transpires. Just pure equity capitalism.
Then commercial follows suit. If you were running a business in an area that consists of over a million people making 150k+, would YOUR business bother catering to normal people? Of course not.
But that's a matter of zero Urban planning, and intentional displacement if existing population.
Watched assimilate on Netflix just now. Not super scary or anything but a good movie for sure. If you like faculty, Or slither, youll probably like this one.
