@ThanosReXXX Thanks for the compliments. Not worrying about what others think is something I've been trying to work on. In my case, it isn't so much my appearance I'm worried about; it's more my personality and awkward social skills. For example, small talk at events seems generic and feels almost like I'm playing a role. I used to joke to close family members that I needed to create a FAQ and hand it out at events I attended.
As for the latest Avengers movie....I've seen the first Avengers and Age of Ultron, but literally when I got around to trying to watch Infinity War, it was booted out of theaters. At this point, I'm probably just better off watching the movies in the correct event sequence and catching up over time like with half of everything else I don't get around to watching. XD
@Tyranexx If you have Netflix, it has Infinity War @Morpheel Sometimes it’s hard for me to catch what’s being said on Live PD when they cut to deputy in Rhode Island. For a good fifteen minutes I was wondering why a line of questions started when the officer saw a “charbroil”. He was really saying “chore boy” (the metal scrub pad)

As for using/creating social skills: you can use a sales & marketing trick, that's called mirroring. Basically, it's just leveling up or down, to equal a person's demeanor, volume and speed of conversation. So, for example, if I get a soft-spoken person on the phone, I'm not going to raise my voice to overpower him. I'll just stay even with his level, and then communication will be on equal terms.
Of course, there's obviously a difference between business and personal communication, but it does help, and it can help to keep the conversation going, which in turn can help overcome the awkwardness. Most importantly: conversations in general should be (or should at least feel) as organic as possible, so a FAQ wouldn't really help. Even though it was only a joke you made, there's always some truth to it, isn't there?
On a side note: doing the exact opposite of mirroring can of course also be a handy tool to cut unwanted conversations short...
But all kidding aside, I may be a very social person, but I'm honestly not all that fond of the obligated family gatherings, other than the big holidays, but birthdays and such are always an event with the same old conversations, the same questions, so it's a lot of rinse and repeat, which sometimes makes it feel as if you really have to soldier through it. And don't get me wrong: I love my family, but there's only so many times that you're willing and able to answer certain questions...
Most of the time, I just speed up my intake of the first couple of beers, and after that, everything is funny and cozy to me...
Veal Recipes is the new VR for any articles. It's how I'm going to refer to it from now on. It makes the discussions bearable for me
Also, mirroring is fantastic. I use that for work about 80% of the time. Many folks think I'm cheerful and pleasant now; I would push them into the pool if I could.

@Heavyarms55 I love my PSVR, but it has a long way to go. The cables, the strapping in, and the #($!@ camera mixing with an onscreen controller that jumps 12ft randomly and then reappears sideways and I can't correct it, and the "out of range" errors if I lean outside the camera space drive me crazy. The camera *NEEDS to go in the future.
@ReaderRagfish....I still...don't get the snowboard thing You're spot on with rjejr and Aloha though. Sitcom best friend indeed!
@NEStalgia I'm pretty sure you're just doing it wrong
I've never encountered any of those issues you're describing. The camera is necessary for head tracking, so I don't see it going away any time soon. There's gyro, but if you also want to track the position without having to calibrate it every other minute, you need a second device to keep track of that.
@NEStalgia The second you'll step onto an actual snowboard, I'd expect it to go as I described earlier,
and I also wouldn't be all that surprised if we'd see it end up at America's Funniest Home Videos...

@Anti-Matter Not really, Labo VR needs you to hold the device to your head...that's worse actually Of course it's $40 and not $400, so there's that...
@Octane. Oh it never works for me. I think it must be fine if you have an Ikea showroom to live in. Otherwise, the controller has to be held at odd angles to compensate for where the camera can/can't see, it often jumps randomly, where on-screen it thinks the controller is held 90deg sideways when it's straight. (I don't understand that since the light should tell it.) and I get the "out of range" often for Astro Bot for example when trying to look around in the extremes. You go off camera or something blocks the view if you don't have wide open areas.
The camera really must go. Otherwise VR remains a niche for those with Ikea living spaces and not for the masses.
@ReaderRagfish Don't worry, that just comes naturally with the territory of gradually becoming older and slowly shuffling your way towards extinction...
@NEStalgia Ah, well. It isn't for everybody, I suppose.
I do picture you safely standing on a Wii Balance Board, although I'm not quite sure that even on that contraption, you wouldn't be wildly flailing your arms around as well...

@ThanosReXXX LOL...well I played Shaun White Snowboarding using the Wii Balance Board, successfully, so there!
@Octane An Ikea studio apartment. I have the camera balanced half sideways on a pile of boxes I set up just for the camera.... And I tripped over the wire and dragged the camera down into the potted plant the other day....
@Octane Well, the piles of physical games, collectors editions, joysticks, have to go somewhere But seriously, the TV isn't even centered it's off in the corner so anything VR needs to be a temporary setup just to do VR.
