Have you guys ever heard of the Fighting Fantasy books or the Choose your adventure ones? They are basically adventure stories that give you choices for a situation at some point of the book. I haven't read them, but I've read similar books many years ago like the Goosebump ones. While I tried to find those books, I came over a website that has a collection of them and they are free to read online. If you are a fan of role playing adventure stories, D&D style settings, or even old school RPG videogames, I recommend it to you. http://www.ffproject.com/
Naw, but I used to (back in 6th and 7th grade). I read the first six books, but don't plan on getting the seventh book anytime soon. I loved those books back in middle school, but I know that if I started reading the 7th, I know it wouldn't interest me quite as much as the novels I've been reading recently.
Anyway, I just finished Eldest (Eragon book 2), and man was that an excellent book! Though I did anticipate the plot twist with who the Rider with the red dragon was, I never could guess how him and Eragon were related in more ways than just being Riders. And I just loved how, unlike the first book, it switches perspectives between Eragon, his cousin, and the Varden leader.
I am currently reading The Stand by Stephen King, and man is it good! I love how SK always has such an enormous cast of characters in his books, just like 'Salem's Lot did. After finishing that, I'll probably start the Hunger Games series, then continue the Eragon series with Brisingr, and finally keep reading the Dark Tower series with The Wastelands.
Oh, and if Final Fantasy VI was ever created into a novel, I would die of happiness.
Anyone here read The Walking Dead books? I hear they are pretty good, and after watching the first episode, I must say that it has me curious.

I also enjoyed the Eregon books a fair bit; Brisingr is pretty good, but I can't remember much of it now. The Stand was excellent and after you finish; watch The Stand mini-series. You can get it on DVD and it is like 6 hours long It did a good job with the cast though and stays true. Oh, and are you reading the unabridged (un-cut) version? The Wastelands was one of my favourite Dark Tower book; it was just so fun.

I just read the famous short story "The Call of Cthulhu" by H.P. Lovercraft. Interesting and creepy.
Lovecraft is one of my favourite authors of all time. The atmosphere of his work, and the settings he evokes are just incredible.
I have a really good recommendation for anyone interested in Japanese history: Taiko. Taiko is a historical fictional account of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and the other daimyos that dominated the period: Nobunaga Oda, Iyesu Tokugawa. It bends history a little, but is nonetheless a brilliant, exciting, and easy to read epic.

Yep, i've read the whole series up through the current tradeback collection (volume 13 or 14 i think -- i only read it in trades, as it's too awesome to only read one issue at a time). Easily one of the best comic series ever IMO.
The Stand is phenomenal, no question. I also absolutely loved the mini-series (though a lot of King fans hated it), even if it obviously has to leave a lot out (otherwise the thing would be like 1000 hours long!)

If you're a fan of zombies -- particualry the classic Romero stuff -- definitely check it out. It's stark, and nails such a perfect tone (which is helped by the often-rough, black-and-white art style).

Really? I loved it! I thought it did an excellent job of portraying the book and some of the characters were amazingly well done.

I loved the mini-series, I just don't think you can make some "die hard" fans happy I think some of them go in to it wanting to hate it.

Well I enjoy the Artemis Fowl books, I'm also reading the Twilight Saga books to. I've started on the Hunger Games and I've only just read like 8% of the book "The Lost Hero". I've always started reading Zondervan's Bible manga and I'm trying to read all of the new Thor prequel comics for the upcoming movie.

The first five Artemis Fowl books are good, and the sixth is brilliant. What I've read of the seventh is terrible and unnecessary, though. Colfer should've stopped after Paradox, what with the amazing full-circle ending and all.
Read I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier. Just do it and I'll read one of your favorite books.
Lord of the Flies, The Outsiders, The Chocolate War, etc., also good.
Can't remember if I mentioned it, but Rumble Fish is another great book by the author of The Outsiders. Preferred it to The Outsiders actually.
