Merry Christmas! This isn’t a Christmas artwork but I wanted to share anyway. I made this Sonic fanart a bit last minute, and it’s a redraw of a plush photo (original image on last slide). Cropping is weird this time though.

I saw the image on Instagram during this art trend where people drew their characters in the same pose as the original, but I just chose to redraw it instead since I don’t have any original characters. I feel like mine is flawed a bit, plus choosing small paper for the artwork didn’t help, but I think I drew Sonic way better this time compared to my previous drawing of him. I colored the image entirely in ballpoint pen and some Le Pen felt tip pens I had sitting around. I was going to use markers to color Sonic and Amy’s muzzles and skin, but the colors I needed went missing, and since I wanted to get this done on time, I just colored their skin with pink and orange pens, though I used the orange pen lightly.

I actually had this festive video game fanart I was working on weeks before Christmas and planned to share, but I didn’t finish it in time

Chose to draw Shadow after watching Sonic 3 a few days ago, though he resembles his video game design more in this drawing. I wanted to use markers for this one instead of mostly pen. I was a pretty huge alcohol marker user, but I stopped using them a lot after I started to use pen, plus I donated some I didn’t use, but I thought that I would give them a try again.

Despite how long it has been drawing with marker, I luckily still remember how to blend and layer with them. I wanted to make the artwork colorful like how I do with pen, so I tried to avoid coloring Shadow with black and darker colors. I instead used slightly purplish blue shades when coloring his fur and brighter reds as well. I did change my art style for this one a bit, since I thought markers wouldn’t work well in the style I had, though I was sketching another drawing of Shadow in my original style.

Although I like it, I think I messed up a bit on the drawing, mainly the hand since one of the fingers looks darker and dirtier than the others, and the way I drew the fur on his chest and ears. I don’t know why I added fur on his ears, and I realized that the white fur on his chest isn’t that big. I realized all of that after I finished it

Have two stuff this time! I did a sketch of Sonic dressed as Beat from Jet Set Radio (specifically based on the box artwork for Jet Set Radio Future) that I plan on coloring with markers tomorrow. I have seen a couple of people dress Sonic like that and I liked the outfit, plus I wanted to try drawing a different pose since I think most of my art poses look boring, something I’ll definitely try to improve on. Some things look off but I’ll refine them later.

On the bottom is some strange squirrel skeleton thing. I was actually trying to get it done before the new year started, but I was busy and didn’t get it done till now. I initially was trying to draw an anthropomorphic squirrel wearing punk clothes, but it didn’t work (couldn’t get the proportions right and now I wanted them to look) and I just went and drew this instead, but that’s an idea I’ll revisit some other time.

The squirrel skeleton is slightly accurate but I changed the head skeleton a lot since I thought the skeleton head I originally drew looked creepy. I did want to do something different while still making the art subject something I’m used to drawing. I didn’t even know that squirrels actually had a skeleton in their tail until I started the drawing!

@Zuljaras Happy new year to you as well! I have had gouache in the past, but it was only a white tube I got in a small watercolor set from a Ross or Marshall’s store, but the experience I had with the white paint was awesome and it was so bright.
