@Pastellioli Love Secret of NIMH, but goodness was it a scary film to me as a child. The scene where she accidently cuts herself and draws blood in the cage? Still sticks with me as something I found very disturbing and scary.

@Mana_Knight if you like Bruce Campbell he was just in a show called hysteria which I thought was fairly decent. Worth a watch.

@NintendoByNature I would love to, but don't have Peacock(?). Hopefully it will come to DVD/Blu Ray one day. Some streaming exclusives eventually do, like Ash Vs. Evil Dead.
I have heard him on an interview about it and sounds very fun! Thanks for the recommendation.

@Mana_Knight When I was watching N.I.M.H for the first time, I was a bit surprised by the mild violence and the inclusion of some blood in it, cuz I watched this movie blind without knowing anything about it besides the fact that it was a fantasy movie. I was a bit surprised with the fight scenes near the end, especially the one where Jenner fights Justin and Jenner dies after getting stabbed by a sword and having a dagger thrown at his back; it’s a very brutal way to kill off an antagonist. The part where the owl crushed the spider and it visibly showed the spider’s blood was surprising when I saw it. In fact, the movie has a lot of scenes that would probably scare me if I saw this when I was younger. I am surprised the film got a G rating, but I’d have to assume it was 80s standards at the time, but a lot of retrospective reviews I read criticize the movie for being too scary. The film is way more darker than a lot of other animated 1980s movies I’ve seen before.

I recall another one of Don Bluth’s movies, All Dogs Go to Heaven, also getting similar criticisms for that, but it was mainly aimed toward how much they showed dogs smoking and drinking, some of the violence (though the violence was way more toned down compared to N.I.M.H) and the film having a pretty horrifying and disturbing depiction of the underworld during a nightmare sequence.

@Pastellioli Yes! I love All Dogs Go To Heaven too. For some reason Don Bluth movies were something I was shown a lot of as a child! Yes, Hell was disturbing stuff in that film. The idea of going there was terrifying! Such a memorable film though.

Watched Rob Roy last night, a movie I've seen many times. The duel at the end between Liam Neeson and Tim Roth remains one of the all time greatest movie sword fights. You really feel Neeson's righteous fury when he finally cuts down Roth's Sir Archibald Cunningham, who had been an utterly loathsome character throughout the entire film.

@Mana_Knight I’ve only seen around three of Bluth’s movies now, that being NIMH, All Dogs Go to Heaven, and another movie called Rock-a-Doodle. I think NIMH and All Dogs Go to Heaven had such wonderful stories and themes, and I absolutely thought they were amazing. I thought Rock-a-Doodle was the weakest out of the three Bluth movies I saw recently, though, but it’s supposed to kind of be a more fun and lighthearted movie instead.

I just watched Sonic the Hedgehog 1. It was much better than expected, I would say it was quite awesome with many scenes, which made me laugh. Jim Carrey is really awesome, he is almost scary as a villain. But there is definitely something I really do not like about the movie. Sometimes the movie feels too cheeky and not appropriate for children. I wish it would feel more innocent, like the games.

Next week I will be watching the second movie. I am sure it will be great.

I'm not surprised to see Sonic 1 movie was a little bit inappropriate from certain asppect.
It was SEGA anyway, have tendency to be edgy by put some edginess in talking and attitude for their franchise.
I personally don't really like the Sonic 1 movie after I saw some indifferent treatments the American peoples in the movie with Sonic that came from different world. Peoples over there were really rude with stranger or newbie.
I don't like that edginess.
I have different idea with Sonic 2 & 3 after I saw the voice actor of Shadow and I hate it because I never like that guy Keanu

What do you have against Keanu Reeves? I have literally never heard a bad word spoken about him. He is probably one of the most universally liked people in Hollywood.

But maybe it different from my perception.
I never like anything from that Keanu guy.
Never like his looking, never like his movie, everything from him.
I hate rated 18+ stuffs from him.
Period.
I only smell really bad people from him.

I mean, you are entitled to your opinion but he is an actor--that is his profession. He is a human being like you and me and the roles he plays in films are not indicative of who he is in real life (a genuinely nice person). Also, it seems petty to judge him by his appearance (at least that's what I assume you mean by "never like his looking"). As for him starring in 18+ films, isn't that basically everyone? Do you hate the Super Mario Bros. animated movie because Chris Pratt was in many, MANY films with violence and profanity? If those are your qualifications you may as well never watch anything.

@rockmanx7290
That's really complicated situation to explain.
I can like and hate the same people when I saw them from different aspect.
I can like Will Smith from Aladdin 2019, but hate him from his other rated 18+ movies.
I can like Celine Dion songs but I hate her song from one rated 18+ movie.
I can like Tara Strong voice for almost every cartoon characters and video game character she voiced, but I can hate her roles in other rated 18+ stuff.
I can like new Mario voice by Chris Pratt, but I can hate him after you mentioned his other roles from rated 18+ stuffs.
It also depend from how did I met those peoples from the first time.
If I met them as a good guy looking, I might not hating them much when they get involved on rated 18+ sometimes, but still I hate to look at them on that rated 18+ stuffs.
I simply just will not ever give any appreciation for their rated 18+ stuffs.
But I met those peoples for the first time as a jerk, I will NEVER like them and I considered them a real bad people in movies and real life, just like I still hate the actress who played as Soraya from telenovela Maria La del Barrio (And since then, I oftenly get negative perception from hearing Soraya name as I associated that name as a jerk from that telenovela).
Also, I got negative perception from Vicky name because of that jerk nanny from Fairly Odd parents, even only cartoon but still made me really angry to see her diabolical behavior and added with other Vicky I met in real life, they were really jerk to me (my hair had ever glued with liquid glue by a student name Vicky when I was primary student and I reported that to my parent).
I had really miserable experience in the past and it made me really very strict with my choice.

Rock-a-Doodle was a childhood favorite for me and my brother, but it definitely has some very disturbing sequences (as all Don Bluth movies do). The part where the one henchman owl can't pronounce "aqueduct" correctly and keeps saying "adequate" always sticks with me. The plot is loosely based off of one of The Canterbury Tales by Chaucer (specifically the Nun's Priest's Tale).

Bluth has made a ton of interesting movies including Land Before Time, An American Tale, Anastasia, and Titan A.E. That last one was such a bomb that he hasn't made a feature since it came out (in 2000). But his whole body of work is worth watching. He's also responsible for the Dragon's Lair games and has been talking about directing a new animated feature based on the series, which I would love to see, but Bluth is 87 so he better hurry up, lol

@Anti-Matter Fair enough. I can see that you are quite resolute so I won't press it any further.

@BougieBeetle I liked Rock-a-Doodle a lot when I was younger too! The parts I remembered the most before watching was the live-action part in the beginning with Edmond wanting to help his family during the flood but his mom telling him to stay in bed and the evil owl and his henchmen gathering and singing around the farm animals and preparing to eat them, and the main owl saying “pass the pork” when they got seated down to eat in the rain. I didn’t realize how short the movie was though.

I have seen some of The Land Before Time in the past, but I don’t think I finished it. I have heard of a lot of the films you mentioned being good, and I would want to watch those at one point. Anastasia is on Disney+ from what I remember, so I’ll definitely have that on my watchlist. I think that for Bluth’s films, a lot of people think that his film’s got worse quality-wise after All Dogs Go to Heaven (save for Anastasia, which was released a few years after a few of his movies started to flop critically and commercially) but I still would give a lot of his filmography a watch. I have heard of Dragon’s Lair and seen some animated parts of it and it looks cool, I have also seen that he wants to work on a movie for it, hopefully he can finish it!

@Pastellioli The part in Rock-a-Doodle where all the owls are singing threateningly about the animals running out of batteries for their flashlights has always haunted me too! It's been years since I've seen it, so I'm due for a re-watch.

Land Before Time and Anastasia are legit good movies, definitely recommend those. And even some of the weirder and less-successful ones like The Pebble and the Penguin and A Troll in Central Park are worth a watch, if just for how bizarre they are. You'll have to check back in if you end up watching more of his work.

I was wondering if Anastasia movie was based on real Russia Revolution and there was a girl named Anastasia from the Tsar family.

Watched Soldier (1998), one of the many vhs tapes I've acquired over the years I like to throw on when I'm winding down in the evening. Anyway, it's a pretty fun sci-fi action flick starring Kurt Russell as the titular soldier. He has very few lines of dialogue throughout the film, but you still feel a lot of pathos for his character. Testament to Russell's acting chops.

Also watched The Quest (1996). I remember the trailers for this one back in the day, but only just got around to seeing it. It's a really dumb fun martial arts tournament kind of movie. Van Damme can be pretty hit or miss, but this is definitely one of his better films.
