@Anti-Matter My recollection is that there really was a Princess Anastasia, but that she was killed along with the rest of her family. Years later a woman appeared claiming to be the princess, but I think historians tend to dismiss the claim.

@OldManHermit The Quest is such a fun dumb movie, love all the ridiculous fighters from around the world. And as I recall, James Remar and the great Roger Moore have nice supporting roles.

“Why do you speak of certain reversals—machinery connected wrong, for instance, as being ‘ass backwards’? I can’t understand that. Ass usually is backwards, right? You ought to be saying ‘ass forwards,’ if backwards is what you mean."

OldManHermit

@BougieBeetle Indeed! It's functionally a better Street Fighter movie than the actual Street Fighter movie.

@BougieBeetle
You were right.
There was really princess Anastasia from Tsar family and they got killed.
Actually I have spotted something about Tsar family member from two different movies.
One was from Anastasia movie 1997, the other one was a short TV series called Mirror Mirror in 1995 with character named Nicholas (Teen version of Tsar Nicholas in year 1919, Elder version in year 1995)
You can watch this short series on YouTube for free now.

True Sega likes their edginess. I wish pureness and innocence were considered cool.

@BougieBeetle
Rock-a-Doodle is awesome. I am still singing the sunshine song from time to time. I did not know that all the films you mentioned were made by Mister Bluth. I enjoyed pretty much all of them even Titan A.E. Anastasia is a great movie too. I think I need to rewatch Anastasia.

@OldManHermit So true, lol. Although I will always love Street Fighter for Raul Julia's virtuoso performance as M. Bison, his final major film role before his death.

@CaleBoi25
Oh no, but thank you for the warning. I bought the two movies set, so I might as well watch it. But if it is too much I will skip the next movies.

@BougieBeetle Oh Totally, his performance as Bison single handedly elevates the entire film, haha. He's clearly the only actor actually having any fun. Shame that was his last role.

@BougieBeetle I did like the singing in the film, i think that the people did a really good job with that and it’s the best aspect of the film, especially the guy voicing Chanticleer. He did a really good job sounding like Elvis since that is who Chanticleer was based off of. I definitely found that the owl had a threatening presence when I first saw the movie. For that part where he and his henchmen were preparing to eat the animals after their batteries for the flashlight ran out, apparently there was a part they removed where the owl makes a “skunk pie” (which I believe they put a skunk in pie crust) because of it being grisly and to avoid a PG rating. A lot of retrospective reviews I read say that the owl wasn’t scary, but to younger me, he was absolutely terrifying!

I will give all of those a watch one day, I’ll see Anastasia very soon. I actually haven’t seen Anastasia at all and I don’t know much about it besides what the film is based on. I love 80s-90s animated movies so much.

@OldManHermit Absolutely! Love his immortal line "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday." Raul Julia is also incredible as Gomez in The Addams Family (1991).

@Pastellioli It's amazing so many of his movies got G ratings with how disturbing they could be. I'm also a huge fan of 80s and 90s animation. There are a lot of great computer animated films coming out today but some of them seem to lack the edge of the classic traditionally animated movies.

@BougieBeetle I am surprised that All Dogs Go to Heaven and N.I.M.H got G ratings the most, because those two (especially N.I.M.H) had a lot of moments that were kinda scary for a G rating, plus some of the violence and the inclusion of blood in N.I.M.H surprised me a bit, though not that it was super violent as the violence in that movie is very mild. All Dogs Go to Heaven was less violent than it, but I was shocked with the part where one of the dogs reveals that he has a gun and tries to shoot and kill Charlie with it, alongside the nightmare Charlie has about not being in Heaven and instead being scared in the underworld.

I really find myself liking older movies a lot, I also should have said that I also enjoy 2000s animated movies a lot, quite a lot of animated movies I saw recently came from the 80s to 00s. There is something that I like about 90s 2D animated films, it just has this kind of magic and beauty to it and I wish there were more modern 2D animated films that were similar to Bluth’s movies or Disney’s 2D animated movies before they went 3D for their movies.

@Jhena What moments did the first Sonic movie have that you thought were not appropriate? Not saying your opinion is wrong or trying to be rude! I haven’t seen the first one in a while and I can’t remember a lot about the film besides a few moments and some Olive Garden joke I can’t even recall being in there. I like hearing about others opinions a lot.

I also saw the second Sonic movie and thought it was better, though it has a bit more action and violence compared to the previous film. I liked the second movie more because it had more elements from the Sonic games and felt a bit more epic, it appears that as the movies go on, they start to feel more like the games they are based on. I am excited for the 3rd movie next month, but it seems like it will have way more action in it and might be a bit more darker, given it’s taking story elements and inspiration from Adventure 2 (often considered one of the best Sonic games in terms of writing and story) and the edgy Shadow spin-off.

@Pastellioli
I remembered from Sonic 1 movie when the human treated Sonic as weird alien creature from another planet and I saw the typical indifferent treatment by Western peoples for newbie.
Also, some chaotic scene at the bar that made me frowning when I saw such thing like that from Sonic 1 movie and I was thinking how did SEGA allowed such scene like that for All Age movie.

@Anti-Matter I do actually remember the bar fight in the film that Sonic and the police officer (I can’t even remember his name) accidentally instigated, they did try making that comedic, but I do think that I remember that film way less than the second because it felt less like the Sonic games and had moments like the bar fight scene that were unlike the source material it’s based on, though the films are set in the human world rather than the same setting as the games.

I do like how the movies start to take more elements from the games later on and the movies start to feel more like Sonic, I thought the second was way more memorable also because it introduced Knuckles as well, and some parts of the film’s story were taken from the games, though there was a wedding subplot with the human characters that I found was sort of unfunny and not all that interesting.

@Pastellioli
The bar fight Anti-Matter mentioned for example. Sonic was even really happy and proud about it. Or when Tom, the police officer mentions what telephone booths are used for. Jim Carrey plays a great villain, but I think he is also intimidating and feels straight up like a psychopath. Sonic is cursing a little bit. The joke when Sonic left the bath was also disgusting.

Edit: In general I do not like how everyone acts so cheeky and they feel so chaos loving, like they would not mind seeing the world burn. But I guess this is normal for modern action movies.

@Jhena I see, I understand a lot, I can kind of remember the bath joke too, but mainly from what they showed in trailers. I really prefer the humor and scenes in the original games, and I did wish the first movie had more elements from the games instead, and I think that them focusing a lot on the human world is kind of why I forgot a lot about the first film compared to the second. I never really thought of the human world and some of the humans in the films as being chaotic, but that’s probably because I haven’t seen the first one in a while and took things at face value.

I am hoping that the 3rd movie will lean more on elements from the games rather than the human world setting in the movies instead of random and chaotic moments like the bar fight in the 1st movie.

Yep, I also prefer the humor and scenes in the original games. The games feel innocent.

Sunsy

Watched Spellbound on Netflix tonight.

I looked forward to this one ever since seeing the trailer, and it did not disappoint. I loved the animation, the world, and the music to this movie. It tells the story about a princess named Ellian, whose parents were cursed and turned into monsters. She and her monstrous parents embark on an adventure to return her parents back to normal. Really enjoyed this one, even gave me Disney vibes with the songs too. (make sense as Alan Menken wrote the songs)

Here's the trailer for those who are curious.

Sonic 2
Yep it really starts to feel like Sonic. Great movie and Jim Carrey feels much more likeable in this one. I will definitely watch part 3 in the cinema.

By the way I started watching Sonic X and I love it. This is the kind of show I loved as a young kid. I guess I will never change.
