@RR529: why do you keep posting the source behind the names of the movies? who cares if you watch a movie on netflix, hulu, an illegal streaming site or on a potato??

They do it so people know the easiest place to watch it, along with the fact Netflix hosts alternate cuts of films (including Blade runner, which is the theatrical cut, one of many versions of the films).

So let's tone it down a bit chief

Tonight I watched Justice League: the Flashpoint Paradox (Netflix).

Pretty good animated superhero movie. Pretty much, something happened & the world is messed up (the Flash has no powers, Batman is a murderous vigilante, Europe is in ruins as Wonder Woman & Aquaman are waging a war that could end humanity, etc.), so the Flash has to find a way to regain his powers so he can go back in time & figure out what went wrong.

Can you show me how to watch movies on a potato? Mine just plays music.

"I'll take a potato chip... AND EAT IT!"
Light Yagami, Death Note
"Ah, the Breakfast Club soundtrack! I can't wait 'til I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff!"
Phillip J. Fry, Futurama

Saw a couple of movies since I last posted.

San Andreas (DVD) - Watched this last night with the family. Standard big budget disaster flick, but it was a fun enough time. While there was obviously some Hollywood embellishment, overall it was more along the lines of Twister, rather than 2012 or The Day After Tomorrow, which was a good thing, IMO.

Justice League: War (Netflix) - Another one of those DC animated films. The main story & villain weren't as interesting as they were in the Flashpoint Paradox (the last one of these I watched), but the chemistry between the heroes was a highlight. My favorite parts of the film were when Green Lantern & Batman tried fighting Superman, and when Wonder Woman found out about ice cream (the latter was a real lol).

@RR529 hey I posted a download code for another dc animated flick, and I don't think anyone has used it yet.

It's a solid film, give it a shot.

@Waluigi: I take it you've seen it so I've got a question I hope you can answer, the the deluxe version of Dark Knight Returns it's just the two movies put together and not edited together to follow the structure of the comic right?

@arronishere:
Yeah it's just the two films and some bonus features.

I think it may be edited slightly so the transition is less jarring though.

@Waluigi, I'll see if I can get to it, but I'm on my 3DS at the moment & won't be able to get to my tablet until late tonight.

It's the code in the image posted above, right?

That's a shame, I might of doubled dipped if it was.

Well I was at best buy, and I saw a hardcover version of the actual Graphic Novel for $20, but it also include a blue ray of the film, a DVD of the film, a special features disk, and digital copies of the book and move- all for $20.

They had the same deal for nearly every animated dc film, and I will be buying more in the future!

@Waluigi, I was able to get it. Thanks!

I don't buy movies often, but if I ever get one & it comes with one of those codes, I'll try & make it up to you.

Haha don't bother, I hate digital movies- that's why I gave my code away! I don't mind services such as Netflix or Google movies, because those are more aligning to rentals. If I buy a movie, it needs to be tangible.

I've seen a couple of movies since my last post...

Marvel's Ant-Man (DVD) - Watched this with the family last night. As I mentioned in the Marvel thread, it was an absolute joy to watch. It exuded fun from beginning to end, and it had some great action, and funny moments. I'd say it's up there with Sin City as the best movie I've seen so far this year.

Son of Batman (Netflix) - Another one of those animated DC films (the last one Netflix has, I think), and it's the one I've enjoyed the most. I thought it was quite nicely animated, with some pretty good action throughout. Damien was an absolute hoot to boot. Oh, and ninjas!

I watched Time After Time last night, it sort of reminds me of Princess Bride with it's sweetness and odd set up and it nice to see HG Wells' views were (lightly) apart of the story rather than just using his name.

I also watched Truly Madly Deeply, it's like a non-rubbish version of Ghost and worth it watching it for Alan Rickman singing The Sun Aint Gonna Shine Anymore alone.

I've seen quite a few movies since my last post.

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (VUDU) - Another DC animated film. This one sees an older Batman returning to the streets after a 10 year absence. He faces off against a number of foes, and other than the fact that I thought the Mutants were kind of lame, it was a good time. Oh, and it had Reagan in it, which is always a plus. Again, thanks to @Waluigi for his generosity.

The Last Samurai (DVD) - As I mentioned a couple months ago, I bought it on Amazon. Finally got around to watching it, and it was as great as always.

E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial (Netflix) - Because I've never truly seen it (I know I've seen bits & pieces, but if I have watched it in full, I honestly can't remember). That trademark Spielberg vibe undeniably gives it some charm, and while it does have it's moments (like when Eliot got drunk through his connection to E.T.), overall, I thought it was a very, very boring film. I guess this is one you just had to be there for (I liked looking at all the 80's stuff, though).

Also, I haven't watched it yet, but a relative gave me a digital copy of The Hateful Eight, since they have no way to make use of it. I generally like Tarantino's stuff, so I'll probably like it.

Tonight I watched American Pie: the Naked Mile (Netflix).

There's absolutely nothing on Netflix I'm really interested (in terms of stuff I haven't seen), so I figured I'd pass the time with this raunchy adult comedy (I liked the main series films enough). This wasn't as good as the main films, and I feel it was a little TOO raunchy at times (even compared to the main series films). Maybe worth a look if you're really desperate for a raunchy comedy (and sadly, I've seen worse), but overall I'd say it's a pass.

Tonight I watched Star Trek: the Motion Picture (Netflix)!

I'll start this out by saying I'm not a huge Star Trek fan. That's not to say I don't enjoy it, it's just that my experience before now was limited to the occasional episode of The Next Generation or Voyager, along with the two newest films.

Now to the film itself. I liked the story itself, and thought it was interesting (especially the last twist), but I felt it dragged on a bit (1), and was a bit too out of date for my tastes (2).

1. I'm not saying it needed to be action packed or anything, as I understand Star Trek is supposed to be more of a "thinking adventure", if that makes sense. There were just too many scenes where they weren't doing anything at all.

2. Not necessarily the special effects, which I was expecting. It's just that the set & costume design weren't doing anything for me (I'm just not a fan of 70's era sci-fi design in general).

@RR529 Us Star Trek fans have a rule about the original films...

The odd ones suck. Go watch Wrath of Kahn.
