No game has impacted me more emotionally than God of War 2018 crazy enough. Breath of the Wild gave me chills for the first few hours but GOW had me wrecked by the end.
Isn't the definition of emotional mean the feeling of sorrow over someone or something? I've only ever heard the word being used for some sort of negative impact that occurred to a person.
the whole Witcher 3. Man I was invested in what I did, who I talked to, how I talked too. What a roller coaster. Me and Triss are happily ever after.... long as she doest know my back story.. haha

Super Mario Galaxy: Rosalina's backstory and the ending (the whole.. erm, "reborn" thing, if you get what I mean) come to mind. I may or may not have shed a lot of tears as a kid during those parts of the game. Then I got older, and then I really understood that one part of the backstory, as well as the implications and complexities of the ending. Sometimes it still hits me hard. Oh, and the song "Family." Really makes you think about life and our attempts to make the best out of it even with downsides here and there.
The Last of Us: The ending made me pretty mad. Let's just say I was in hard disagreement with Joel's actions and plans. Oh right, and some pretty sad, "awh" moments in the game for sure.
Fire Emblem Awakening: The first FE game I cleared on my own was certainly no slouch in the emotions department. There were multiple times where I had to close my 3DS, set it down, and go for a walk or something because I'm trying not to lose it in the course of processing what the hell I had just witnessed. Great game for sure.
I'm sure there are other games that have pulled my heartstrings in many other ways, but for now, SMG and TLOU come to mind. Maybe it's an unfortunate circumstance of growing up, but I would say it's really hard for me to even go "awh" when it comes to video games or movies. Don't get me wrong, I can show some emotion here and there in many games (Astral Chain comes to mind as an example), but I think I'd be much more receptive to the emotions if I was younger.
Bonus: In terms of getting extremely scared, here are the following games that have done it for me (the ones that come to mind immediately):
1. Clock Tower (SNES. I think it was 5 or something. It was the one with the crazy kid with the shears).
2. Professor Layton and the Curious Village. Entering and climbing that tower really took a lot of courage on my part.
3. The first two Zero Escape games: the two games in their entirety are rollercoasters in regards to making you experience true fear.
God first.

Why do you think I left the title the way it is? Whatever you think emotional is, go for it. I'm just interested. You do not need to get offended by every little thing I post. It gets annoying fast. I appreciate your points, I really do. Just, please chill.
it was meant to be an aimless captious question with a vague point about how 'negative' and 'positive' emotions are not that different from each other, that I did not intend to explain.
I generally feel unbearably tense whenever I play any horror game, such as Resident Evil, so I don’t indulge very often. That said, Corpse Party really took me to the edge - to a point where I had to stop playing it! I did eventually beat the game, and ended up enjoying it, but whew...
On the other hand, I felt utter elation after finally beating Nightmare King Grimm in Hollow Knight after several hours of trying and countless deaths. Felt like whooping!
As for feeling sentimental, I’m sure it has happened, but nothing really comes to mind. The ratio of plot to gameplay tips the balance against getting too invested, much of the time. Or the writing just isn’t good enough. That said, I can agree with leerafuse that The Witcher 3 did a seriously good job. Wouldn’t say it put me through the wringer, but I certainly got caught up in it.
I've definitely had feelings of triumph, frustration, elation e.g. Mario Kart 8 close finishes, FIFA matches. FIFA is seemingly held in more contempt then dog dirt by a lot of people, but that game can produce terrific moments of tension, drama, comedy.
No game has ever made me sad, I just don't seem to get pulled into stories enough for that to happen. But maybe I need to play more 'story' games.
But recently I've had IRL feelings of euphoria when in the great outdoors, walking along coastline, through wooded areas, and over hills. Just keep being reminded how beautifully realised an experience Breath of the Wild is.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
What better way to celebrate than firing something out of the pipe?
It's been a while since a game has really made me sad, the last one that comes to mind is Professor Layton and the Lost Future. There have been some other games I've played since then that have sad moments but none that have actually brought me close to tears like that game did. I was very young when I played it though. I definitely felt... some kind of emotion playing Breath of the Wild too due to the scale and beauty of the world. And of course I often feel the typical game-y emotions of frustration, triumph, joy, as well as fear of anything remotely spooky because I'm a coward
OK, a not sad one for those who desire that. In college, we were playing a Madden tournament. One of my games went to overtime tied at 3 (a defensive slugfest). The other guy got the ball first, I sacked him back to like the 2 yard line and made him punt. I went full out blitz and won the game on a sudden death blocked punt out the back of the end zone for a safety to win 5-3. Everyone watching went crazy. It was fun.
Also basically every Goldeneye party in high school.
Final fantasy 9's ending tickled my heart strings. Loved how it played out.
But finishing botw got me in another way. I was so invested in that game I wasn't sure what to do with my life afterwards(kidding but not kidding). It was the only game that made me feel that way after finishing it. The closing moments, the battle getting there, all the time I spent in hyrule. All of it had sad it ended.
I don't get emotional that often, but Klonoa was the earliest video game I remember that made me feel sad. It's mostly a cute story that has a couple dramatic heelturns, but most of all, it has a downer ending. Anyone that's completed it knows what I'm talking about.
