Nintendo's presentation wasn't that bad. If you look at it from the point of view that what you wanted beforehand wouldn't be there, it was excellent. You people expected them to make a certain game for you, and since they made something else instead, you're mad. That doesn't make sense.

Just finished up watching the Nintendo & SE events!
Surprisingly, I actually liked the Nintendo event, and even though it didn't have any bombshells (and talked a lot about stuff we knew about), most things shown were stuff I have interest in, so it kept my attention.
As for Star Fox, I actually thought it looked really good, and with the revival of some of the SF2 ideas, I thought people were going to be much more excited about it than they ended up being. Maybe it's because the 3DS is still my main platform, but I for one am pretty stoked about Metroid Prime: Federation Forces & Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam (especially the latter, which was the biggest drop of the event for me). While we knew about them already, it's always good to hear more from FE Fates, FE X SMT, and XCX, IMO. Nothing else really struck me, but there was enough I liked to keep it rolling, IMO (I will say, that it would have been better had they saved Chibi-Robo: Zip Lash for the event, as well as Fatal Frame, Devil's Third, & Project Treasure). Overall, I'd still say I enjoyed my time watching.
As for SE, while their conference looked a bit dated in terms of presentation, that doesn't factor in nearly as much as the games present, which I'd say they delivered quite well. Kingdom Hearts III, new Nier, Lara Croft GO, new Star Ocean, World of Final Fantasy, and FFVII remake all have my attention (even if the last two lost some of their luster, being repeat trailers of what we saw the day before). Heck, even Just Cause 3 looked like it could be tons of fun, and I'm generally not into those kinds of games.
I may get flak for this, but overall? I'd say Sony > Nintendo > SE > Microsoft > Bethesda (haven't watched EA or Ubisoft).
BTW, it's not that Microsoft or Bethesda's events were bad (in fact, they were well presented, and brought the games), it's just that they mostly showed games that didn't mesh with my personal interests. Different strokes for different folks, and all that.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Wow, Square-Enix totally folded...except Star Ocean 5 was shown apparently, but I can't find footage of it. Neir being done by Platinum games sounds...weird. I didn't like Neir solely for its gameplay, though, so there's a chance they can improve that at least...actually, that's all I need them to do. I keep hearing Neir had a great story and $#!+, but I don't care because it played like $#!+. If they can make the gameplay fun, that's really all I need from an action RPG. Ys and Tales are two of my favorite RPG series, and neither of them even try with their stories most of the time.
But otherwise it was some vague thing, and the two games they showed already. And Kingdom Hearts III (which also looked nice). Ah well, can't win 'em all.
EDIT: I forgot Just Cause 3 was a thing, guess I'll check that out later...
So uuuum, KH3 looks like a 360 game. Why is this only on PS4/XB1 again?
And don't tell me it's the stylized art style. Sony announced a ton of stylized games that look amazing.
Because the PS4 and Xbox One are current gen platforms. It's time to let the PS3 and 360 go.
Yeah, it was time to let go a year ago. But only if "letting go" means we get games that take advantage of the new hardware. If you are going to make a game that might as well be on 360, then I see no reason not to release it on 360.
At the very least put it on Wii U. A system that has something resembling sales in Japan.
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
So Sony just came out and said they're partnering with Yu Suzuki to make Shenmue 3 as putting more money into the project. I have to ask then why the Kickstarter (the same thing I said with Amplitude). People like to complain about early access and games being released early yet they give a mega Corp 2 million dollars and thank said corporation for its charity.
WAT!

Eh even from something not being to your taste from a pure content perspective theirs no way Nintendo beat Microsoft.

After watching the Treehouse play demos of the games shown at the direct, I can say that while it did not live upto the hype of last years event, it was still a solid performance. My personal favourites were Zelda Triforce since I was a massive fan of Four Swords and Paper Jam, which while not the Paper Mario game I wanted, was definitely the Mario and Luigi game I wanted. I'm not a massive Starfox fan but the game really shined in the demo where the trailer did not do it justice and as for FedForce, well I think that game has been unfairly judged before given a proper chance. Nintendo did not hit a homerun but when you pair what we saw today with the stuff we already knew (Mario Maker, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Yoshi, ect) it seems like we have a good lineup for the rest of the year. Anyway, there's always next time
I saw the footage of Federation Force. I got bored after 30 seconds. Blast Ball looked really fun at the NWCs
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
So now that seven of the eight conferences have gone and the last on is basically unaligned, i can give a more definitive ranking for the conferences:
Microsoft > Bethesda >= Nintendo > Sony > Square Enix >= Ubisoft >>>>>>> EA
SO WHY THE NEW RANKINGS?
Nintendo: Disappointing. I won't call this a bad conference, I clearly still enjoyed it, but it felt very sparse, the cutscenes were the stupid variety of funny, the games on offer were mostly good (with a couple of massive eyebrows raised to the Metroid Prime shenanigans and Animal Crossing Party idea, I can imagine a frw people are seething after those two.) The real problem? Nothing got me out of my seat. There weren't any major surprises and it seemed like they leaned a little too hard on Super Mario Maker and Amiibo. I loved their offerings, but the event was painfully devoid of hype. So that weird symbol before it and why is it where it is and not lower? Well the thing is, I think Bethesda definitively had a better conference, they just didn't have much I actually care about, and yet, I was so hyped! Meanwhile, I'm pretty happy for almost everything Nintendo showcased and yet, no hype. As for Sony, they just didn't grab my attention. I feel they showed off a better software showcase, but I just can't being myself to care all that much.
Square Enix: REALLY COOL CONFERENCE! Really meh offerings. Outside of FF and KH, I don't feel they had much to grab my attention. I have yet to decide if I preferred Ubisoft's more varied showcase that likely excited nearly all watchers at one point or another or Squeenix's showcase that would've been a lot of hype for a certain niche, but not as much for most gamers.
All in all, though, WONDERFUL E3! Most conferences went well, very few tech difficulties, good offerings all around, and this is shaping up to be the best year of the generation. My biggest concerns are that Nintendo's gonna be barren until September and that I'm suddenly less sure if I should get an XO or PS4. XO is still winning, though.
Its all been abit boring really. Am i the only one who thinks this? Wheres the innovation? Wheres the excitement? Just an array of fps/3ps games with different skin and lots and lots of sequels and remakes.
Unravel says hello. Also, I don't think it's exactly fair to throw the Last Guardian and Horizon: Zero Dawn into that bracket.
I won't lie. I've been very impressed by the showings this year and will be saving up to get a PS4 by the end of the month.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite
