And that's a wrap on MK1. I finished off the Khoas Reigns DLC. Basically a continuation of the story of MK1, this time revolving more around the Lin Kuei and Scorpion. It was a bit shorter then the main story but that's to be expected since its DLC.

As of the game itself another enjoyable Mortal Kombat game. Had fun with this one and the story as always was interesting. Not sure where the series will go from here but for now this was a nice ending to it.

Decided to introduce my little brother to the Metroid series and we started by working through Zero Mission. We played on easy at his request, which I don’t think was absolutely necessary, as aside from the Mother Brain and Kraid fights I don’t think there are a whole lot of struggle points in this game. He liked it a good amount, but wasn’t necessarily a fan of the repeated backtracking, some of the bosses, and is also still getting to grips with some of the platforming (the ledge grab was a lifesaver for him). The stealth section and final lap near the end was probably his favorite part.
As for me, I think Zero Mission is a solid game, probably my least favorite Metroid that I’ve played due to some repetitive environments and backtracking (this is a remake of a very old game after all) and the game shoehorning in a few abilities near the end seemingly because they couldn’t figure out a way to use them in the main game, but “worst Metroid game I’ve played” is not really an insult seeing as how I’ve only ever played Fusion and Dread besides it. Getting a game this fun and this modern-feeling even 20 years later out of NES Metroid was nigh miracle work, and I had a fun experience revisiting this game and my brother’s reactions to it. We’ll probably play Skyward Sword next, but as for Metroid, I’m planning on jumping into Super with him, and that will be my first time giving that game an honest go, so I’m excited about that. But as for me, I give it a 9/10.

@Zuljaras How did Sanitarium run on the Deck? That game is still in my backlog and didn’t know if it was compatible with it.

Pizza Tower decent time, I suppose. Controlling peppino isn't as easy though. He's sticky, slippery, and its not the smoothest trying to platform. Especially when you are being timed. It can be a tad frustrating at times. Also, probably my own fault, but I didn't realize you needed to get a majority of the toppings to get money to get to the next floor. It wasn't really an issue until the 3rd floor for me as I was naturally getting money not realizing how. The boss battles were the highlight for me honestly. Fairly challenging and learning the attack pattern was the best part. Got it in a sale and Id say its worth it. 7.5 / 10

Just wrapped up Mario Kart World's Grand Prix mode. All cups finished in 150cc with at least a 2-star rank, and I did take home a few 3-star ranks as well.

Loving this game! I'm liking the new gameplay mechanics and the items, and a lot of the tracks are great. I was a little concerned about how the routes would turn out, but surprisingly, I'm liking them. It's cool to see how all the tracks are connected to each other, too. The graphics, sound design, and especially the music are awesome. I did play a little bit of Knockout Tour and Free Roam as well, and I do want to play more of them. I do want to check out the online, too. It looks like it has quite a bit more content than I thought it would have, more so than a lot of the previous games.

after beating and spending many hours in ocarina of time and a link to the past, i moved onto majoras mask, and i honestly think it could be Tears of the Kingdom for my favorite zelda game.
the dark, unsettling atmosphere, the hopeless characters, the time cycle, lured me into it like a mouse to cheese (hey, i couldnt think of any other comparison 💔) i love the mood, the side quests, the story. i wonder if mario odyssey took influence from the masks? all of them were so fun to experiment with. i had to use a walkthrough a lot since the side quests are a bit confusing, thats my ONLY criticism. my favorite part was zora hall, but the final boss was epic. some of the last cutscenes in the games made me tear up, the story is so well done. overall majoras mask is definitely 10/10. im so thankful i experienced this game. i already want to go back to termina and 100% it. but ive got bananza, gris, and wind waker to go through first 😭
oh, and tatl? love them way more than navi.

BRING NINJI INTO MARIO KART WORLD RIGHT NOW.

I'm not sure if this falls exactly in "Games You Recently Beat" but I did finally wrap up Season 9 "Renew & Rebuild" in Snowrunner (Switch). This one is based in Ontario, Canada and the main focus is dealing with the aftermath from wildfires. It was really fun and like the other maps very atmospheric. It definitely had some tough jobs and areas to navigate but not as bad as the Taymyr map. That one was so topsy turvy I was under the threat of flipping all the time. This one was solid mix of terrain to get around but definitely had to place fuel tanks throughout the maps.

I'll going to start checking into the other DLC's to see which one I want to do next. What I love about this game is it's such a great game to play whenever. There's so much to do and planning strategy it never gets old to just kick back in loose many hours getting things done. It is a backlog killer though so I have to regulate it to keep it in check.

This fire is burning and it's out of control. It's not a problem you can stop it's Rock and Roll!!!

I also happened to finish Soul Calibur II via the Switch 2's GameCube catalog. The arcade mode to be more precise... although I did use a few continues, lol. I'm not normally big into fighting games, nor am I great at them, but I'm surprised how much I liked it overall. It's easier to get into than a lot of other fighting games and I could see myself playing it online on occasion. As a huge Nintendo guy myself, I had to pick Link, haha.

I beat the newest Klonoa remake. Like...the original remake, not the second one, yet. Edit: No the remake of the first game that is in a package that also comes with Klonoa 2, not the previous remake on Wii, why did I write it like that?

I have to admit, I was kinda disappointed. Something about playing it this time felt slightly off. And I have no idea if its a me problem or if this remake has problems everyone didn't notice somehow. Real shame to say because I fell in love with this game on the Wii. All time favorite platformer at that time, it'd be a shame if I was wrong all along.

Mario Kart World
Got three stars in every mode, 100% in free roam, and every character and costume unlocked. I want to finish the time trials after Bananza. World is a great Mario Kart with a beautiful world. I am hopeful, that the next Mario Kart will have more interesting stuff to do in the open world.

@Jhena Congrats! I started playing it yesterday and I'm having a great time with it. I forgot to mention the costumes in my MKW post... love that they're here. I picked Mario in his cowboy costume when I started playing online.

Please do not remind me.^^ Well, in the meantime I can hope for some meaty updates or a DLC in a few years.

Thanks! Yep, the costumes are lovely and I like Mario's Cowboy outfit too. I also love his vacation and pilot outfit. Wish you a great time and many victories playing online!

@Jhena, I do agree about the dlc. I bet there will be some eventually, even if it's several years later like the Booster-Course Pass.

Just finished Wario Land 4. Had the urge to pick up Pizza Tower a while back, and realize that I should probably get through the game that inspired it first. I’ve been playing this on and off as a refresher between games for about six months now, and I’d say it does a pretty good job at that. The platforming is (usually) fun, the transformations add some variety, and most of the puzzles get your head turning. My main problem with the game lies in some of its level design. The level design in this game is not at all bad, and much better than what little I’ve played of Wario Land 3, but with the speeds Wario can reach and just how fun momentum-based platforming is when the game lets you go, it feels like I’m driving a racecar through D.C traffic. It doesn’t seem like the character is built for the level design, which also suffers from some of the previous game’s problems of being a little too cryptic, especially with the bosses. One minor nitpick I have with the game is that getting onto ladders is the biggest chore in the world, as Wario will not budge unless he is placed on the exact pixel the game wants you to go on. Otherwise, I did still enjoy the game, as the level design can be quite fun, the music is great, and it’s a treat being flung from one crazy set-piece to another. Also, I feel like I got a fair ending relative to the work I put in, as I spent a fair amount of time getting extra collectibles and got the second-best ending for doing so. In my book, I give Wario Land 4 a solid 8/10, and am excited to one day give Pizza Tower a shot.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind

I'm a bit torn on this one. On one hand I like the pixel art. I like the animation. The music and the Power Ranger IP is pretty well done here.

The problem for me is that one bad design choice in the control scheme ruins the game. Having up + attack making your character do a launcher attack. Considering how often I'm moving around, I am frequently launching into the air when I'd rather be planted on the ground. And the inability to remap buttons is a huge fail, imo.

In addition to that, the gallery shooter sections are a neat idea, but fall flat for me.

If I wanted to play a rail shooter, I'd rather play a game dedicated to the genre.

7/10

Just wrapped up Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake last night. Finished it in 80 hours. I skipped a decent amount of the side content and won't play the post game (maybe I will do that in a future replay), but I intended on this game being more of a small gaming schedule gap filler and I still spent a few months on it. Overall, it's a solid 10/10, I honestly couldn't have played the original game without the modern qualify of life improvements. Though those tiles at Zoma's Citadel that change your direction are annoying as heck. 🤣

Awesome game, I am glad that you loved it too. It was surprising how some quality of life improvements can make an old game so much fun. Of course the beautiful music and scenery helped, too.

I hope I can find the time for I+II.
