No Dark Souls yet? Or Kingdom Hearts? Not top tier for me, but I am surprised nobody else has mentioned them.

Did think of another one, though: Trails in the Sky might get a vote from me.

@Krull I mean Kingdom Hearts definitely doesn't feel as complete as a trilogy just encompassing KH1-3 that's for sure

You kind of need to absorb everything to even approach that series outside of the gameplay

For Souls I see a lot of people group games like Demon's Souls and Bloodborne as part of that series instead of strictly referring to the Dark Souls games so maybe that's why? Also the fact that on a Nintendo-centric site I doubt there's a lot of people who've played the other two compared to something like PushSquare

@TheFrenchiestFry I have finally been able to play Persona 4 since it came to Steam and its easily one of my favorite games. I really hope Sega gets around to porting Persona 3, I want to play that one next.

@AnnoyingFrenzy I do hope Persona 3 sees the light of day on Steam as well. It's my favorite of the modern Persona games and one of my favorite MegaTens

It has in my opinion, the best modern Persona cast and story with its focus on the themes of the inevitability of facing & accepting death. It's also got one of my favorite gaming soundtracks of all time

The other Metroid Prime trilogy within the Prime Series, Metroid Prime Pinball, Metroid Prime: Hunters and Metroid Prime: Federation Force, would be my favorite trilogy of games. I don't tend to play pinball games too often, but I consider MPP the best out of Nintendo from what I've played. MPH is my favorite game of all time overall. I think about Federation Force when deciding what Metroid game to rank behind MPH, generally Super Metroid's great consistency wins out but I do find myself wanting to replay MPFF more.

Both MPH and MPFF have been 100% completed as well. The only other trilogy that I have two 100% completions in would be Super Mario 3D All-Stars, 64 and Sunshine, which I would rank slightly behind as my 2nd favorite trilogy.

Agreed with @Marioman2020 - the Super Mario Bros. NES trilogy for sure, preferably with the US version of SMB2. And it ended on an even higher note with SMB3! These games got me into gaming to begin with, as well.

I'll also mention the Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy on the Genesis. I also played these games a ton, plus they got better with every game - Sonic 3 & Knuckles is still one of my favorite games of all time.

@AnnoyingFrenzy Cool. That sounds like me and my experience with the original Sonic trilogy. I played Sonic 2 and 3 first before I ever played the first Sonic game.

The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!

@TheFrenchiestFry The only thing I know about Persona 3 is that apparently, its story hits fast and hard (if my sister is to be believed), which I'm looking forward to seeing as if there is one flaw with Persona 4 is that its story can take a little too long to get going sometimes!

If the music in Persona 3 is anything like the Mass Destruction track in Smash Ultimate it and I are going to get along just fine. Persona 4's soundtrack is already one of my favorites now as well!

@Sunsy I really tried to get into the original Sonic trilogy, but there was always something keeping me from truly enjoying it. The only time where I found myself enjoying "Classic Sonic" was in Generations (which was an absolute blast of a game)

@AnnoyingFrenzy Persona 3 I wouldn't call fast paced. In fact early on in the game there's not much of note happening until I'd say when you reach June or July, but from there it won't stop beating your emotions into the ground with how progressively dour things get. The one thing I like more about P3's cast compared to P4's is that the bonding between the characters is built up over time and that to start, not everybody gets along with each other as easily as the P4 or even P5 casts do. They're kind of dysfunctional and are different degrees of broken trying to figure out things about themselves as well since they all have darker secrets to hide and came from rough upbringings

If anything the little character interactions during the day when they're doing stuff like shopping at the mall, or visiting the ramen joint or just talking to you during their social links are kind of an escape from the grim reality the game is set in, and it makes a lot of the bigger emotional moments hit that much harder

And yeah Persona 3's soundtrack is fantastic. Mass Destruction is obviously a pretty great battle theme (for the male protagonist) but I also love a lot of the other tracks like Changing Seasons, Living with Determination, When the Moon Reaches Out to the Stars, Want to be Close and the boss theme Master of Shadow among a bunch of other songs

It takes a lot more of a techno/rock influence compared to how laid back a lot of the Persona 4 soundtrack is but it has great tunes

Ico, Shadow of the Colosus, The Last Guardian comes to mind. And Street Fighter Alpha. I personally think games are best when the story is minimalist.

Oh yeah Street Fighter Alpha also reminds me of one of my favorite fighting game trilogies

the Street Fighter III games. Also Marvel vs. Capcom because I'd like to act like THAT game never happened

I forgot to say metroid prime trilogy although I honestly prefer the gamecube versions of the first two. Somehow the ones on wii look worse. The controls are better on wii but graphically the gamecube wins!

Not many of my favourite games come in trilogies (it seems that Japanese developers/publishers don't do trilogies nearly as much as their Western counterparts), and in many cases where they do, at least one game of the trilogy lets it down.

The only two that come to mind are Uncharted 1-3 and Spyro 1-3. The original Ratchet and Clank trilogy is also pretty solid.

Might be Mass Effect for me. I thoroughly enjoyed the universe and mythos that Bioware built. Say what you will about how the trilogy ended story wise, but I felt the games got better as the series went on. And I think I put well over 100 hours into ME3's co-op multiplayer. It was better than GoW horde mode with its gacha progression system, loved it.

Streets of rage (4 is great too)
Golden axe
Sonic
Pikmin
Street fighter alpha/zero
Super Mario brothers

Metroid Prime is an obvious candidate. Ace Attorney is another. Danganronpa and Zero Escape are also great choices... In fact, I would probably lean toward Zero Escape, even if the third game wasn't quite as good as the first two in my opinion.

Signature, huh? Where do I sign?

@MS7000 Never played a prime game so 4 is going to be my first one.

I'm working my way through the Dark Souls trilogy, so that would probably count as my current favorite. Other favorites would be:
-Earthbound/Mother. Not much of a trilogy since the second game is just an improved version of the first, but it counts.
-DKC Snes trio is fantastic.
-Ace Attorney
-Zero Escape
-The DS Castlevania games.
-Bioshock (even though I think 2 is superfluous)

I was going to include the Mass Effect trio, but I'm not sure how well it's aged. I'm getting the Legendary Edition when it releases so I guess I'll reevaluate it then. If memory serves the first game was ambitious but janky, the second was probably the best overall, and...I'm not even sure I played the third honestly. I can't remember anything about it.

Edit: and, also not an official trilogy but, the 3 Fumito Ueda games: Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian. Wonderful stuff.
