Ok so I am thinking of picking up one of the older Batman comic publications because my son is interested in origin stories and I am thinking of it would be a great Christmas present for him, but I am having a hard time deciding. Right now I can pick up either The Killing Joke or The Long Halloween. Any advice as to which one I should go for?

I believe I remember the long Halloween to be a classic, but I think those are both excellent reads. :3

How old is your son? If he's fairly young, you should probably NOT get him The Killing Joke (but it is awesome).
Also, Long Halloween is a great read, so you can't really go wrong there.
Frank Miller's Year One would probably not be a bad choice either.

@Tasuki
12 might be okay ... i'd recommend picking it up for yourself and read through it, and if you think he's mature enough for it, then go for it. It is a great story, one of the great Bat-clasics.

Well he has seen all three Dark Knight movies, and watches stuff like Law & Order SVU but yeah I will check it out beforehand and see.

Oh if any of you are into comics, I would recommend either subscribing to or getting the book collections of the New 52 series of Batman. It is fantastic. I just got the 14th issue and the 3rd in the "Death of the Family"story arch. Never really had many comics before, but this is amazing!!
Batman Arkham City Armored Addition is easily one of the best videogames I have ever played... And I have barely scratched the surface. Almost all the reviews I have read, the reviewer has complained about frame rate issues. I have not come across one time where there have been any problems. The game looks gorgeous!!!!
The Killing Joke is a must have. Anything by Frank Miller in general
This. His "Year One" and "The Dark Knight Returns" are must-reads.
Also, "The Long Halloween" and "Hush" (both by Jeph Loeb).
And i'd also reccomend "Death in the Family" from the 80s (even though current continuity has kind of re-written the outcome). There's a couple of follow-up story arcs (which unfortunately have not been collected as far as i know) including "Year Three" (telling the tale of Dick Grayson becoming Robin) and "A Lonely Place of Dying" (where Tim Drake first takes up the Robin mantle), which are both great reads.
