It's almost that time again. Nintendo's unveiling of this year's Club Nintendo Elite Status rewards will soon be upon us. For those of you unfamiliar, Club Nintendo is a website in which players earn Play Coins by registering and taking surveys on DS, 3DS, Wii, and Wii U games. These coins can then be redeemed for Nintendo-themed merchandise, accessories, and downloadable games. At around the first of July of each year, if you've earned enough Play Coins, you get a Gold Elite Status reward. For earning even more coins, you may receive a Platinum award. Though Nintendo hasn't yet announced this year's prizes, the golden nunchuck is what I'd like to see more than anything else. It's only been available for purchase on Club Nintendo a few times and each time, it's sold out pretty quickly. It would likely be a Platinum reward, since it costs around 900 Play Coins, which is pretty expensive. It'd look really sweet plugged into my blue Wii Remote Plus! Please comment what you guys think would make a great Club Nintendo reward.
Hmm... I have no clue what they could give out. They had a choice the first year, of either the Mario hat, or the Punch-Out Doc fight.
Maybe it will be that way this year.
It will probably be a Luigi hat, or 2 free VC games or something on the Wii U. Who knows, but Luigi's hat seems kinda likely, it being the year of Luigi and all.
I would like an awesome Link statue. As seeing it would be year of Luigi, I'm guessing Luigi hat, or maybe a Luigi figure. Or a real working Poltergust 5000. Maybe not that, but no freaking buttons or playing cards, please. I know it's free, but come on.

Buffalo wings are a gift from the gods themselves.

Yeah, some of their rewards can be kinda lame. I mean what the heck are hanafuda cards!? It'd be cool if there was a figurine of both Luigi and Link together. They'd be the unstoppable green L duo.
Nintendo started out as a card company and the Mario Hanafuda Cards are a reference to the original Hanafuda Cards they once produced. A tribute to how Nintendo first started.
The platinum reward will be amazing, for the sole reason that I failed to hit it this year
I did get gold, though. Hope they offer some games for gold members (like last year). I'd like to see Paper Mario get offered, since I didn't have the coins for it when it was a normal reward.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Well, last year the platinum rewards were a deck of cards or a poster set, and those kind of rewards usually go for around 400-500 coins, so I doubt we'd see the gold nunchuk, plus it would be a repeat and enrage anyone that spent 900 coins if other people could get it just for the 600 coins you need for platinum status. Thank goodness that storage box was recently offered, because it most likely won't be the reward either. Expect something new, and don't expect anything that would be over 600 coins in value.
I have a whole bunch of games that I haven't registered yet, but I'm thinking I should wait for July 1st as I'm already Platinum status. Or will they stop accepting games after they are too old (I got around to collecting Club Nintendo tabs from my old DS games and Wii games)?

It really depends. I used to do the same thing(saving register codes). I had enough games and systems for 2 1/2 years of platinum status when they first started the program, but that's because they started it when the Wii and DS were already kinda far into their life cycles with games..
I always get caught up in the extra 10 coin deals, post plays that expire in 2 months, and digital buys always keep me from saving the codes.
If you buy the hard copies, then it's easier to save for coins. MH3U only has coins with the digital purchase, though, so that doesn't count.
EDIT: The games do expire eventually BTW, depending on the print you got. If you buy the first edition copies of a game in 2013, I think they expire in 2016. If they reprint the game, I think the deadline is extended.
They used to have more reminders and info when the club first started, but I think they shortened the register period, so that no one could save register codes anymore. I'm not sure, but it seems like their more strict on the coins ever since Wii U came out.

I know that, but it's still a lame reward if you ask me.
I would like something game & watch related, Japan got game & watch ball as platinum one year, I would like another reproduction or collection 3...but one can only dream.
Heh heh. BMO. What I meant was, I didn't know what Hanafuda cards were, but I knew Nintendo used to manufacture them a long time ago. I just didn't understand their purpose. Is that the face BMO makes when he says "I do not play such games... with Jake"?
