I get why you're supposed to watch it in broadcast order now (thanks for the heads-up ), the last episode chronologically wouldn't exactly have been that exciting.

Yes, never doubt the Mackerel.

I don't think I've ever asked for any recommendations here but I'm up for suggestions. Haven't watched anime for a while. Apparently Gundam 00 is awesome?

I'm wondering, is the movie (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) worth watching? And do I need to see Season 2 first?

I watched it fairly recently... but I can`t remember most of it...
It was too similar to Gundam Seed (and Destiny) that I can`t remember any distinct parts from the two. I remember thinking it was alright, but not as good as I had hoped. You will probably enjoy it. Just don`t expect anything new.

Currently watching Basilisk. Shallow on one hand, but awesome on the other.

Just picked up Evangelion 1.11 and 2.22 on Blu-ray for $20 each. I have the original US release DVD box set as well as Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion. These rebuilds are fantastic! Great animation and less parts that grate on your nerves making it much more watchable.

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

Hmm... Code Geass or Death Note?

Most would probably say Death Note, but I'm gonna say Code Geass, especially R2. Death Note just got too confusing to me after a while.

OVERRULED. I found the entire box set of Death Note on Amazon for £26.99 (should be £60), so think I'll get that when I next have some spare cash. Should keep me busy for a good while

Does anyone know if Full Metal Panic Second Raid got a region 2 release?

Japan DVDs are all Region 2, so you could import it. Unless you're wanting it in English, in which case doesn't look like it's been released here yet. Import it from the US and make your DVD player region-free (it's really easy with most DVD players)

SigourneyBeaver

Yeah, I'll be wanting English. I've been considering importing the US discs but I don't have a DVD player that I can change to multiregion.

Sooo... Has anyone here been watching Madoka Magica? The final two episodes will be out on the 21st, and I can't wait!

@Ravage Well I've never watched a Gundam show before so would 00 be a good start or should I just forget it?

And no recommendations? Anime is that bad these days, huh?

The first Gundam I seriously watched was Gundam Seed, but I thought it was quite good. 00 is pretty good as well, but I much preferred Seed, so you might as well start there? Mac should know more about giant robots than me!

@HMack

I started to give you the long answer, But it turned into a lot of ranting, so I'm just gonna give you the short answer unless the long answer is requested:

  • Yes, Gundam 00 is a good series to start with.
  • Gundam 00 is kinda good, so long as you check your brain at the door, and put up with the slow pace at the beginning.
  • Would I recommend it over other Gundam Series? Not really.
  • What I would recommend is starting with the first Gundam series, or Gundam SEED if you must watch something modern.
  • Yes, anime has been pretty bad lately, though I do recommend Magical Madoka and Fractale.

Robotech is on Netflix streaming. I think I'll give the series a shot. The only other connection I've had with Robotech is through playing Robotech: Battlecry on the PS2.

I watched Voices of a Distant Star today. While I prefer Shinkai's The Place Promised In Our Early Days (Have yet to watch 5 centimetres per second), it was nonetheless very good imo, reminded me a lot of Joe Halderman's "The Forever War" (I've got the series Omnibus) in some ways. Just wish that it wasn't so hard to find the DVD at a good price

...I knew there was something I'd planned on picking up, completely forgot about these. **goes to Amazon**
