Kinda of a on-topic, off-topic question, but, did anyone know that this show got itself an animeshow?
Yes. The Anime isn't as good, IMO, but I always felt the western show was supposed to be a parody of asian cinema and television, which the anime doesn't seem to reflect.
Looking forward to Summer Wars getting a Western release (it's pencilled for March 2011 on DVD, but you lucky American types get it in cinemas later this year). Winner of Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year 2010, by the same director as The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (which itself won the award in 2007)? I'll have some of that, please.
I watched the trailer for it. IMO, you aren't missing anything [youtube:WD5QiLi2krk]
I really wanna see Tales of Earthsea, which is finally getting a NA release after waiting 3 years for SY-FY to loose its rights on Earthsea. I wasn't big on Tekkonkinkreet,it just jumped all over from serious to ludicrous and that just didnt sit with me.

Currently watching "Bakuman", "Psychic Detective Yakumo" and "The World God Only Knows" right now. Not really my cup of tea, but there isn't much out that I want to see right now. I also watch Hetalia when I remember there's a new episode out.
If anybody's looking for a good mind-f%#& anime, I'd recommend Serial Experiments Lain. It makes almost no sense, and yet it's so intriguing.
Thanks given to Xkhaoz for that one avatar. Please contact me before using my custom avatar!

As a sidenote to V8's recommendation, youll probably have to look online for that one, as its pretty rare/expensive to buy. But I'm prolly the only person who buys anime anyway.

Also, I highly enjoyed A Scanner Darkly. That was a crazy movie. O.O
Sean Aaron ~ "The secret is out: I'm really an American cat-girl." Q: How many physicists does it take to change a light bulb? A: Two, one to hold the light bulb, the other to rotate the universe.

Not an anime, but definately an interesting film worth watching. It uses a modern form of Roto-scoping (filming live-action and drawing over it, how they did Lord of the Rings (1970s)

Huh, did not realize that at all. Either way, it looks like anime and is worth a watch. Although, it is rated R and if you are young (as I know a lot of users here are) or sensitive, then you should not watch this movie. It really is pretty disturbing...

Yeah, I recommended that one before. It actually does make sense... but you have to think about it for about a month first. It's got a really great story, once you know what is actually going on!
EDIT: A Scanner Darkly is a film based on a graphic novel. So no, not anime.
I'll keep an eye out for Serial Experiments Lain then, sounds like my kind of thing. Love films that you've gotta think about or watch a few times to fully understand what's going on. Probably explains my love of anything featuring abundant time travel (The Butterfly Effect, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, etc) as a major plot device.
You definitely need to watch Lain more then once cus it was trippy. It was my first and almost last experience with anime cus I just didn't get it. After I watch more anime though I revisited lain and found it much more appealing. Not to mention one of the first all computer done animation.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Just watched Grave Of The Fireflies. Wow, that is one incredibly depressing (but brilliant) film. A boy and his young sister have to try to forge a life for themselves alone in war-torn Japan, after their house is napalmed and their mother is killed by the fire.
They both die.
That's not even a spoiler, you're told that within the first five minutes. Doesn't even come close to stopping it being a punch in the gut at the end of the film though.

Its Graveyard of the Fireflies and yes it sucks but is a good movie. It really makes you feel sorry for those two kids!
