Toradora's good. Watched that a few months ago. A tip though, when you get to the end, the last episode, make sure to keep watching AFTER the credits.

Thanks dood Ending song is so freaking awesome too

I don't like anime all that much, however I love Miyazaki's films because they are so animated and colorful. Other than that I enjoy DBZ and Kirby: Right Back at Ya! because they make me laugh.

So many good games, so little money to spend.

Just started The Last Exile (2011/12) and Soul Eater right outta the blue. Both were highly enjoyable despite their numerous faults (The Last Exile having virtually no set up in the first episode and Soul Eater having characters that are borderline annoying, for instance). The Last Exile I'll continue when it's completed it's run, while I'll just watch Soul Eater until I run out of Dubbed episodes (there aren't many) then get back to it later.

I also restarted Magic Knight Rayearth and now I'm up to episode 4. This is easily the best Magical Girl show out there, and a large part of that has to do with the fact that it hardly feels like magical girl.

I tried to start Pretty Cure just for the helluvit, and got to the part of the opening where they scan their magical daddy's credit cards through the magical scanner to initiate their transformation sequence and I was like, no, this is dumb, and just quit. I'll give it a real chance someday, but definitely not now.

I'll be starting Petite Princess Yucie tomorrow, because I saw an awesome AMV of it that made it look good, and because it's by Gainax, and because it's based on Princess Maker. I really don't see how this could turn out wrong.

If I feel ambitious, I'll probably go for Princess Tutu tomorrow, too. It's supposed to be a lot better than the name implies, and again, I saw an AMV that made it look really good.

I normally don't like to bounce around a lot of shows, but I'm trying to find sone shows I can marathon, and so far I keep running into shows that I feel satisfied after one episode.

By the way, has anybody watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica?

Dood, check out Sgt. Frog on Hulu. That show's hysterical.

Same here. I wonder if you'll like Aim for the Ace? Though I think that's hard to find nowadays, BlueFixer is almost done subbing it, and it'll likely be compiled soon after.

Wow came out in 1973 o-o. Might be hard to find no? Meh perhaps sports animes aren't very good. I dunno.

Not really. I just told you where you can get it, after all.

Three Major Things That Make Me Frustrated At The Anime Strike Witches:

#1. This show really likes to have plot devices. First off, it really doesn't make any sense why the main character is so against war, specifically with the alien threat. I would understand if the character was against harming other humans (to me that makes perfect sense), but the enemy isn't even human; it's some vaguely explained alien entity that, for all the viewer knows, doesn't have much of a conscience or motive beyond "Those things are trying to kill me! I'll kill those things!". Also, the only thing that can kill the aliens are weapons wielded by Japanese schoolgirls wearing really tall and awkward jet boots? Really? I know this anime is supposed to be taking place in the mid-1900s-ish, but that doesn't excuse the fact that anti-aircraft weaponry was in use and was effective. And also, how evil is this major character? She literally (SPOILERS ^if you really care^) lies about the death of a girl's father TO THE DAUGHTER OF SAID FATHER (END SPOILER). But the thing that makes me even more angry is that the daughter DOESN'T BLAME THE MAJOR FOR ANYTHING WHATSOEVER.

#2. What's up with the magic in this world? For some reason whenever magic is used, the female using said magic is surrounded by a blue aura of sorts and grows cat ears along with a fox tail. And that brings up another point; why does it appear to be that only woman have the ability to use magic? I've searched everywhere on the internet and it appears that there is not one single male in the world of Strike Witches that can even use any sort of mystical or otherwordly power. Personally this wouldn't bother me so much if it weren't for the fact that almost every female in Strike Witches can perform magic. And if I'm correct (which I'm probably not), you can't even explain this on a genetic level; the only 100% difference in males and females (besides appearance) are their gender chromosomes. There are two kinds of gender chromosomes; X chromosomes and Y chromosomes. The chromosomes combination of "XX" equates to being a female while the chromosome combination of "XY" equates to being a male. As you can see, both combinations contain an X chromosome, so it doesn't make any sense why only females would be able to perform magic. If anything it would make more sense that only males would be able to perform magic, as they contain the Y chromosome.

#3. WHY DO NONE OF THESE B#$%&!S WEAR PANTS?!?!

^You're thinking way too hard about an ecchi comedy. Part of the reason why I avoid ecchi is actually because of poor writing, like what you described. Watching ecchi is like whatching a B-Movie, albeit one where most of the budget went into the animation - you really can't expect much out of it.

But ... it's magic. So why wouldn't it just decide it likes girls better? I like girls better. Does that mean I make no sense?

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

Strike Witches is only good if you like watching underage girls run around in extremely tight panties. So petty much entirely not good

Anyone hear about the Eureka Seven sequel? I just read the first chapter of the manga adaptation, and it looks pretty good...

I disagree. Strike Witches is a fun show to watch, with some very good action and comedy mixed in. I'm not a fan of the fanservice, but looking past that, it's actually above average, just so long as you don't take it too seriously.

BTW, why'd you stop writing on your site? I was looking forward to your Strike Witches review, but it never showed up.

Bought some Naruto movies today. The Lost Story, Legends of the Stone of Gelel, Naruto Shippuden the Movie and Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom. £3 each in HMV if anyone's near one.

I only saw one Naruto Movie. I can't remember which one it was, but it wasn't very good. Granted, most shounen movies aren't very good in my opinion. The last good one I saw was one of the Pokemon movies, which did the unthinkable and actually delved more into the history of the Pokemon Society, though not as much as I had hoped (still more than the games get into, which I really hope changes someday). Most movies in shows come off as being non-canon anyways, so I generally feel like their's no point to them. Of course, the Naruto movies could be different, but I'm not banking on it.

the 2nd Naruto movie was ok. Mostly because it used a lot of my favorite characters.

But the only REALLY good shonen movies I've seen are the better half of the Conan movies

I've seen the first two Naruto movies and the first one was okay but I really like the second one. There's also a hilarious 2 part parody of the first naruto on youtube called spoof movie no jutsu.

I'm not big on romance and never watched Toradora, but I can list the main Romance Shows I liked:

Honey and Clover (Both Seasons)
Ah! My Goddess (OVA/TV)
Kimagure Orange Road
Maison Ikkoku
Touch

The last three are old and only available fansubbed, but they're easy to find and highly regarded. A friend of mine even said that Toradora was the first romance show that was as good as Maison Ikkoku, which really makes me want to see the former, and speaks well for the latter. If you want to go a more legal route, though, H&C and A!MG are pretty good, too, and available on legal streaming sites such as Hulu.

EDIT: Oh, actually MI is available on DVD in the U.S., but very expensive and hard to come by...

Has anyone been watching Last Exile: Fam, the Silver Wing? I liked the original series and was wondering if the new one was any good.

It's better if you've seen the first series at least. I tried watching it without seeing the first series, and it was not a good experience. There's no set up and stuff goes on with hardly any context. To someone already familiar with the setting and characters, though, you might say that they aren't wasting time or whatever. I've only seen one episode, but I'm told told if you liked the first, you'll like the second. It's certainly pretty and the action's good.
