I recently watched the first few episodes of Hetalia: Axia powers and that anime is so funny. All the main characters are personified versions if different countries and each main characters' name is the country they are based on. Its a comedic anime with short episodes that are around 5 minutes and the episodes are often based on real events that occurred like World War one and two.

Yes, I started reading about that on Crunchyroll.com and I plan on starting to watch it as soon as I finish reach the tenth episode of Blue Exorcist. I also plan on watching Nabari no Ou and Glass Feet this week if not this afternoon.

I recommend watching the dubbed version, all the characters have the accents of the country which helps them represent their respective countries.

Thanks, I shall keep an eye out for the dubb.

BTW why isn't Katanagatari available on Sony PSN, CrunchryRoll.com or Hulu or even iTunes at the VERY lest?

I wanna see Hetelia, but I have a huge problem with cultural stereotypes as a comical medium. I don't find it funny, I just find it offensive.

It's licensed by Nis. All of NIS' stuff was on AN, but the streaming license expired very quickly, so if you want anything by NIS legally, you gotta get the DVDs, unless you wanna wait for them to put the streams back up (which is unlikely seeing as NIS is a relatively small anime company). Believe me, I'm mad that I missed out on seeing Wagnaria!! and Arakawa Under The Bridge.

Anyways, if you want, you should try Bakemonogatari once you have access to your computer, it's by the same guy as Katanagatari and it's pretty good. It hasn't been licensed, so there's no problem with watching it on other sites.

So I went on a shopping spree today, and I got a load of Anime:

King of Braves: GaoGaiGar Season One (I've been looking forward to this one for a long time. I'm glad they had the litebox, the Collection set was huge!)
Shin-Chan Season One Part 1 (Please tell me this is the editted version they showed on Adult Swim...)
Teknoman The Complete Collection (opted for this version instead Tekkaman Blade since it was available for a lot cheaper, albeit used and in a bigger box)
Marriage of God & Soul: Godannar!! Complete Collection (I only know of this series from Super Robot Wars, but I hope it's good. Too bad it's got a lot of fanservice, though)
Silent Service (came in a Two-pack with Area 88. Anybody know if it's good?)
Area 88: The Blue Skies of Betrayal (The other part of the two pack. At least I know this'll be good)

Overall a good haul, and for a good price, too ($89 after coupons, sales, 2+1 deals, and my 1 month free membership)

Plus both Evangelion movies (1.11 and 2.22) arrived in the mail today.

So I got 8 anime to watch. You know what that means? Indecision city yeah~

Lol, nice haul Mickeymac :3
My to watch list is getting heavy again too:
Corpse Princess: Part 1 - This has been sat on my desk for too long, having only watched two episodes of it so far.
Nabari No Ou Series 1 Part 2 - Still firmly in the "not bad, not great either" bracket... I was way too harsh on Part 1 first time around though. I think uni stress may have been to blame, lol.
Twin Angel, R-15, Dantalion, A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan - All ongoing online streams (Anime On Demand), haven't started any of these yet. Looking forward to Dantalion, Dark Rabbit, and Nura. Don't know a great deal about any of them yet, though.
Steins;Gate, Tiger & Bunny, Deadman Wonderland - Need to catch up on this lot.

Let's see how much I can sit through this weekend

@SuperSushiLax Completely ignore A Dark Rabbit Has Seven Lives, it's a stupid and horrible combination of a blood-fest and a pander-fest. Yes, I've only seen one episode but I don't care; I can judge an anime based on a single episode if I want to and that's what I'm doing.

EDIT: Also, for those curios, No. 6 has set up a yaoi relationship between the two main characters. FFFUUUUUUUUU--

Well, I'll still try and enjoy the anime even if it begs for fan-girls to write explicit yaoi fanfiction about itself.

I have to do a write-up on it. Believe me, half the junk on that list I wouldn't touch unless I had to
Besides, I kind of want to watch something enormously trashy... that and Deadman Wonderland may just scratch that itch

@SuperSushiLax Deadman Wonderland is kind-of interesting. The main focus really doesn't seem to be on the blood/gore but more on this grand and tragic plot that the writers tried to make. Yes, at first the show just seems like an excuse to have people die in F-ed up ways, but then the plot switches gears at around the 4/5 th episode. It's very weird and I'm not sure if it works or not.

...OK, strike R-15 off my list. Went into it blind, didn't realize it was basically a hentai. A hentai with the most hilariously bad writing I've ever known. I'd post it here but it's probably a bit too saucy for NL... just watch the first 45 seconds, I dare you not to laugh.

I hope things even out for you. I myself intend to break some personal records this weekend. And I hear Corpse Princess is alright, I was going to pick it up myself but then I saw Shin-Chan.

Yeah, I got two episodes into it. I'll admit, I knew what I was getting into when the second episode was titled "I'm Still an Idol Even if I Strip". It was terrible. I'm usually really forgiving with anime and I still say I got what I paid for (absolutely nothing), but I just couldn't handle it. It was gross, misoganistic, and unwholesome. Certainly not worth our time and I'm sorry you had to experience it in the harshest of ways.

I just read some reviews of Teknoman...and I should've gone with Tekkaman Blade. Apparently Teknoman is the butchered child-friendly version. And I don't mean "Butchers" like what people call RoboTech. We're talking a basically unrecognizable version with some pretty poor writing. Well, I only payed a dollar, so I guess I got what I payed for...

On the flipside, GaoGaiGar looks amazing from the trailers I've watched. It's got a lot of big names behind it (though admitedly almost all of those big names are known for non-Super Robot works), including the creator of Transformers - in fact, one of the trailers even goes as far as to claim that it's a "continuation of the original Transformers legacy". Take that as you will. At any rate, I'm no longer indecisive.

Ah yes, R-15. A show that promised to push all the boundaries of relative decency. I have now watched the first 45 seconds, probably enough to get a taster for the whole series, and it's the most absurd/hilarious minute of anime I've ever seen. For all the wrong reasons, you understand. When I read that it was based on a young man's desperate struggle to build a harem, I never imagined it would go quite this far. I can officially brand this as the dodgiest show I've ever even attempted to watch. If I knew more about internet memes I'd post one conveying my expression, which was more or less a mixture of disgust, amazement and horrific amusement.

^You have yet to even experience the writing yet. As Sushi so colorfully explained, it's pretty bad.

Just consider it a test of your manlyness. I know I do when I watch those type of shows.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking...except Santa doesn't charge you. And I swear my mom wanted to punch me when I told her I spent half my savings on one trip.

Evangelion 1.11: You Are (not) Alone - My head still hurts from watching this. I forgot how confusing this series was at the beginning. I watched it with my brother, and he was even more confused - hell, he thought there was a whole 'nother movie he had to watch before it. He was also incedibly frustrated with Shinji, and I can't blame him. The only thing holding my sanity together was the fact that I would be thinking the exact same things as him in his position, so if I was frustrated with him, it would mean being frustrated with myself.

Overall, though, it was enjoyable. I was a bit bored by it since I've seen the series about 3 times by now so I knew what was gonna happen, but that didn't make the last battle any less intense - now that was a grand finalie!

TokyoRed wrote:

@Mickeymac, that Space Runaway Ideon was exceptional. I truly enjoyed watching that. It reminds me of Captain Harlock and Speed Racer.

I forgot to mention: That's actually a pretty accurate description - It's a Space opera (a la Captain Harlock) about a a ship and giant robot that are of ancient, mysterious origins (Like Turn A Gundam as I mentioned before) who are being chased by a relentless enemy (kinda, sorta like Speed Racer...actually, it's more like Mobile Suit Gundam. Remember how White Base was always being chased by Char? It's more like that). It's made by Tomino, creator of MS Gundam, as well as the credited creator of the "robots of Myserious, ancient Origins" plots, and it's more or less his specialty.

I hate to put more on your plate, especially since as far as I know you haven't finished any of the shows you started this year, but I think this is something you really should give a try, since it seems well suited to your tastes.

Shinji is a hell of a lot less frustrating in the films than the shows, so much so that I'm actually enjoying his character developments in the films.

Bamboo Blade finished. I really enjoyed it in the end. What swung it was Donny and Miya-Miya's relationship. Best charactes in it

My brother rented The Black Butler yesterday. Don't want to watch any videos or check it up online because I want the entire thing to be a surprise so I'll see how this show turns out, lol.

Watching the bonus episodes for Shiki. Did anyone catch that anime? It's pretty gruesome.

I can't wait for the Usagi Drop anime to finish just to see everyone rage at the ending. unless they change it for the better, of course, which I hope they do

Borders is going out of business, so I decided to pick up some manga - I ended up grabing the first few volumes of Berserk, and the first volume of Deltoro Quest, which I started reading and it's okay so far. If I like it I'll probably watch the anime instead of reading the rest. Oh, and I grabbed the second movie of Inuyasha, since it was there. Hopefully it'll be decent, which is more than I can say for what I've watched of the series.
