Just finished Death Note (anime) and damn that was an awesome ride. I was reading the manga while watching the anime but i just got too into the anime that I stopped reading it. In the manga I left off around the introduction of Near. Does anybody know if the rest of the chapters differ greatly from the anime?
Wow, this weeks episode of OreTwi was really intense. For fifteen whole minutes the main protagonist and the big bad traded words about their love for twintails, which resulted in a the revelation of Twoerle's past and the true downfall of her planet. Souji resolves to accept the responsibility that the twintail power brings and chooses to take on Dragguildy with full force. Even though the whole twintail thing is silly, their argument was deep.
In manga news, I'm all caught up with Kyokai no Rinne!
It doesn't do anything particularly new, but if you've liked Takahashi's previous works (particularly Ranma, which this seems closest to), you'll probably find something to like in this one as well. As a fan of her previous works, this has been a pretty decent "comfort read", if you will.
The romance is most definitely toned down in this one, though. It's most certainly still there (especially when it comes to the side characters, who are as vocal about their emotions as ever), but the leads seem more apathetic about such things than ever before. Early in the series they drop some hints that they like each other, then they don't really bring it up that much (they don't seem to get too jealous, if at all, of the other's potential suitors, and it begs the question, do they really not care, or do they simply trust each other that much?).
Also, I read the newest chapter of Bleach earlier!
After the defeat of his personal vanguard, Ywach prepares to face the Zero Division himself. Or does he?
Ywach emits a powerful light that spreads out from the Soul Palace reaching all the way down to the Soul Society, where it zaps the life out of any Stern Ritter members who hadn't yet died at the hands of the soul reapers, and and that life energy is used to revive the lives of his personal vanguard.
Zero Division vs Ywach's personal vanguard, round 2, start! In the words of this chapter's title, "What The H*ll!".

I'm not sure I've mentioned this, but Magic Kaitou is a new anime I've been watching. Actually (retroactively) a spinoff of Conan, it's pretty fun if you like the Lupin-like thief stories. But it's weird since there was already an adaptation of it, and it only stopped two years ago (and so far this is not that different outside of some of the seiyu).
According to 456 reviews it's trustworthy, but if you're not sure, I'd either contact the seller for more info and perhaps some pics, or just pick another seller. Sometimes it's just that the other sellers are overcharging, though.
Anyways, started up the 2012 JoJo's Bizarre Adventures. It's Bizarre alright. The animation exaggerates almost every scene. I mean, it seems like it's trying hard to have a good story here, but it's a little distracting how many times it has these manga-style, for-emphasis stills. That, and the pacing in the first episode was fairly uneven. I'll continue with it, since it's obviously just trying to get to the good stuff (which starts next episode), and I already know I'm in for a campy-fun ride with at least a semblence of an intriguing story.
Psycho-Pass 2 was brutal this week. The way this show just kills characters off... "plot armor" is a concept that just doesn't apply at all. The story seems to be in full swing too with another piece of the puzzle being revealed every episode. Guess it makes sense though, as the first season was 2-cour and this is only 1-cour.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Gurren Lagann - Missed first half. Looks like Simon finally has his groove back. He gave a rousing speach, then kicked enemy a** in a way Kamina would be proud of.
Hellsing Ultimate - The climax of this series continues with the wealth of bloodthirsty action we've come to expect (and other shocking depictions) of this series.
Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge - This was how they filled in the extra hour, and it was as fun as ever (especially considering I missed it when they showed it earlier this year). Just feels right to have Goku & Co. on the block, and it's a nice taste of what's to come next week.
Also, they had another new promo for DBZ Kai, which premiers next week

Attack on Titan got the closest it's gotten to what I want Eren to be like, someone dangerously close to turning into a crazy person, destroying Titans without mercy or humanity. Eren being intentionally not well in the head is the most interesting thing for him usually (kinda true for Mikasa too).
I liked the series but I wish I could get into the characters as much as others have. If they could just change some things, I would probably love this series.
This show is officially, "Subtlety Is For The Weak: The Animation"
Seriously, nearly everything this show does is over the top in some way, whether it's the animation, the expressions, the "letting the themes all hang out" blatant exposition they call dialogue...and you know what? I think I'm really starting to dig this show. Really, the only problem is the pacing - they're condensing 5 full volumes into 9 episodes, naturally it feels excessively rushed....

Yeah the ending of the manga is different from the anime so it's worth it to keep reading.
Wow I haven't checked this thread out in a while. I have really lost interest in anime lately. Everything started looking the same to me after Kill la Kill and then some average anime with over the top violence with Kill in the title came out. Think I kind of just gave up there. I still need to finish Space Dandy. I was really enjoying that.
I just came back from my first ever anime convention! It was sorta overwhelming since I've never been to anything like that before, but I had loads of fun and will for sure go next year! I didn't cosplay, but hopefully I'll try my hand at it.
Side note, I finally finished watching the original Inuyasha! About to start the latest continuation of it. (Never thought I'd finish it honestly)

Haven't posted here yet, but I'm finishing up death note. (27/37)
Are there any other anime shows with the kind of storytelling style from early in the series?
If so, I need to watch them.

The Final Act is a bit rushed (they tried to squeeze about 230 chapters into 26 episodes), but yes, it's definitely worth it to see the conclusion animated.
Depending on how much you liked the series, I'd also recommend trying out the manga (though it'd obviously be a huge time investment). As for the main differences:
The early parts of the series are much more graphic in the manga (this is because the anime aired during the "Family Hour" in Japan, and thus had to be toned down). Some of the arcs had to be completely re-tooled they were so graphic.
InuYasha & Kagome don't bicker over small sh*t nearly as much in the manga. While they do have their major arguments, they genuinely reconsile & get mushy (unlike the anime, where they immediately start arguing over some other small detail afterwards, and it's treated as "well, things are fine because that's how they usually are").
Once you get to around chapter 330, you'll get a lot of "new" content, due to all the stuff they cut/condenced in the second series.
It obviously means there'll be no filler. This means none of the funny comic-relief episodes (like where Kagome's little brother tries asking InuYasha for love advice), but it also means it doesn't have the horrible filler arcs that try to be more serious (like that trainwreck with Hojo's ancestor near the end of the original series).
Either way, I hope you enjoy the series.

Thanks for all that info @RR529!
After watching the first episode I could tell everything was happening very quickly!
I really disliked how slow the original show was, but now I sorta miss that as this is moving way faster than I'm used too.
My only issue is that when I started the show a couple years ago, I watched dub as I wasn't into sub much then. And in the final act everyone has the same voice actors... Except Kagome. So that's really throwing me off D:
