Ok. Panorama is working. Still fixing the bottom screen. Credits are working. 50+ splash text phrases. Beta is lookin good...

Unfortunately, the C++ interpreter won't work... I'll just stop trying and say that PTCom isn't powerful enough...

It's too bad that PTC doesn't have TXT files. Then we would be able to save the splash text outside of the app. LOAD "TXT:SPLASHES"

Well, then we'd have multiple files, which is inconvenient for the users. Oh, and one more thing, I set the splashes to be right-justified under the huge "Minecraft DS". I'll post a pic in just a moment of the menu.

EDIT: Ok! Here's the menu!

Ok, for the block textures, to make it easier and look better, I'm gonna import the actual texture into PTCUtilities, convert it to a GRP, scan it, then make a GRP to DATA converter, then append the DATA to Beta 1.0. Prepare guys for the BIGGEST update to Minecrft DS ever! This is the equilavant to the Beta 1.8 update! So, panorama is looking good. One problem, due to the way the program works, it has to do VISIBLE 1,0,0,0,0,1 to keep the bottom screen from showing anything. I need my buttons to show up. So I didn't apply that to the menu. What happened? I have a copy of the panorama on the bottom screen being drawn so its all jumpy and ugly. Help?

Are you using BG screens on bottom screen? You can change the layer depth, so just put out a blank, solid color BG screen and cover up your mess!

Pffff...block textures. Beta 1.0 will have new block IDs, touch GUI, and you can place any block! Also, if you place TNT, it will destroy the blocks around it after a couple seconds.

Ok. Soooo change the drawing depth and do GPAINT 1? Sounds easy enough...

@boot I don't think so... Minecraft DS uses little to no sprites.

Hello, i havent really posted much... ever, but i ive kept up with the forums and would really like to help with raycraft. it is your game though and you might not want any more people working on it, so its up to you. ive had an idea on how to handle a larger map using GRP files, if the game handles the map the way i think it does, and a simple rendering system for the map so that it shouldnt increase lag. ill have to look at the code some more, considering i suck at reading other peoples code (even my own sometimes) but i think i should be able to make it work.

nope, no signature here...
I lied, here's my friend code: 2406-5448-5608

It's definitely possible, I tried it earlier today. You have to load the grp data into the map array though.

@BonChoi thanks for letting me help! i was already sorta working on a 3d map but this is a step up so i figured i might learn something.(plus this looks much more fun anyway )

@Ralph i know its possible, its just a matter of making it work with how raycraft uses its map data, ive just been too lazy up to this point to really look through the code to get a working idea on how to use it, so im gonna work on that now.

Minecraft DS uses no sprites whatsoever. @BonChoi block IDs will just identify the type of block to draw. @anonymous_ninja how much do you know about PTCom? I might let you help. The size of the map will be maxed out at 32x32 until I include rendering distance. The reason is this. When the map is huge, there's a lot of blocks on your screen at once. The console has to draw all those blocks, causing lag. It has nothing to do with the map size itself, it's the rendering.

@BonChoi ummmmm...(no offense @anonymous_ninja) please run stuff by me before you allow people who I'm not really familiar with to help.

Ok sorry XD.
But if he is a brag and go kid, his name will be in the splash text. And not in a good way.

no offense taken @IAmAPerson, its your game, and if you dont want anyone else working on it, like i said before, i understand completely.

i was planning on doing a map renderer if i tried to do a larger map for the same reasons as you said. i doubt petit computer could handle rendering a map larger than 32x32 anyway. nothings worse than an awesome game that runs too slow to play sometimes cough minecraft cough. the way i thought of it was each pixel in the GRP would be for a block and the color would be the block's id. then at some point, such as when the map is loaded, the grp is converted to data, then the data for 32x32 blocks (or however much when the renderer is added) around the player is given to the raycaster. this is just a rough idea, and ill need to look into the code more like it said. i was also thinking of using the chunk system, like in minecraft, to load sections of the map, but have it 8x8 since the map is smaller and the blocks are bigger anyway.

@BonChoi "brag and go kid"?
