Wait a minute-
You can turn the keyboard off in games or programs by saying PNLTYPE "OFF"
You have to be able to turn that menu off.
Finally I have mentioned the unspoken.
REVOLUTION!!!!
I put this in Gamefaqs in my Apocalypse Rising thread. I have posted that real time multiplayer might be possible because there is a way to turn the keyboard off in games or programs, and there has to be a way to turn the menu off so people can join games if they have the same game.
That or we send angry emails to Gamebridge and Smileboom.
Or release a modified version of PTC in the shop.
XD
You never noticed many of our games use the touch screen before?
I lot of games and never finish making them. I know I suck for doing this but iv have started a new game. if you have seen ^^^^^^ on the wiki It is what i'm basing it off of in small ways. I you have not you should get it. its based off of vvvvvv. since i,m getting Mario and luigi dream team i'm making stickman Mario RPG. I'm using the characters like @,5,a, and the stickman sprites but I modified them. i'm not allowing myself to make another game while I make this.
Just your average talking boot. FC: 0791-4881-1672 for Smash and Pokemon.

I did...
Anyway, the point is the menu from SENDFILE and RECVFILE might be able to be removed leading to...
REAL TIME MULTIPLAYER!!!
I HAVE AGAIN SPOKEN THE UNSPOKEN!!!
REVOLUTION!!!(again!)
Just do it already. No need to spam the board and walling. You have YouTube account. Post some hi-res QR pics as video. Problem solved. Quit whining on this thread Professor. I suggest you go to General-Help thread to ask how to post images.
Or maybe one of the moderator can help point the way better.
Well, I guess I'm learning C. Anyway I'll work on my project for a little while, and see what issues I have to fix. Wait, oh yeah, I put this and when I press A the game doesn't run-
B=BTRIG()
I edited it to BTRIG.
Then-
IF B AND 16 THEN GOTO @STARTGAME
It doesn't even give me an error.
Try this: @LOOP
VSYNC 1:'1 FRAME WAIT FOR BUTTON PRESS READING
B=BTRIG():' Same as B=BUTTON(1)
IF B AND 16 GOTO @START
GOTO @LOOP
I found out that if you don't use VSYNC 1, button presses are problematic. Same thing happens if you have VSYNC value greater than one. If you have WAIT/VSYNC value greater than one, I suggest that you skip BTRIG() and use BUTTON(0), instead.
@Swordx in DA i tried buying a red potion but when i did,it didn't give me it but it took the 150 gold. And when i looked in the description for the last quest that Kizashi has,it gave me a syntax error and i had over 1,000 gold and i was a high level!
Hey guys I just broke my ds... but im getting a 3ds sometime soon. sorry if this is off topic but should I get Mario and luigi dream team or kid icaurus uprising?
Ok, ok. I promised no more off-topic for me, but get Dream Team.
How dare you break your oath???!!! XD
@Gimmemorecoinz I've looked at your tile-based collision deeply, and I wonder. Will it work for background scrolling???
Yes as long as you don't use BGOFS
What you have to do is redraw the WHOLE map using BGPUT each time the map scrolls.
Like this
Map_Scrollx=1
Map_Scrolly=10
For x=0+Map_scrollx to screen_size+map_scrollx
for y=0+map_scrolly to screen_size+map_scrolly
tilenum=tilemap(x, y)
bgput 0, x, y, 0, tilenum, 0, 0, 0 'I think that's right it might not be. I haven't memorized bgput properly yet
next x
next y
What this will do is it will make it so that if your scrollx or scrolly values get changed, it will redraw the map using the tiledata with the offsets.
This won't scroll the map smoothly though, just be warned.
Otherwise, you could use bgofs to scroll the map smoothly and combine the two. It would in theory work as long as your BGOFS matched the mapscrollx and mapscrolly values EXACTLY. Unfortunately.. you'd have to avoid increasing the mapscrollx and mapscrolly values until BGOFS scrolled a full tile in one direction. Another unfortunate thing is that BGOFS only scrolls the background layer VISUALLY. It doesn't actually change it.
So tiledata wouldn't match the scrolled background layer graphically.
So here my method instead of writing the whole map to the bglayer, I'm redrawing the whole map on the same SECTION of the bglayer to give the illusion it has scrolled (in a way it has)
You could probably come up with a clever way of checking to see if a full 8 pixels of scrolling has happened in any one direction UP DOWN LEFT OR RIGHT and then use the mapscrollx and mapscrolly to redraw it
What this will do is give the illusion of smooth scrolling, when really what your doing is
Step 1:
Scroll bglayer up 8 whole pixels (one tile)
stop scrolling.
Subtract a single value from the mapscrolly value (DO NOT use mapscrolly with BGOFS as this will just offset everything further)
call your draw routine now to redraw the bg layer with the new map scrollx and scrolly values (If you don't do this then your collision will be offset by whatever BGOFS did)
the redrawing of tiles may not be visible to the player as long as you redraw the same tiles onto the bg layer that appear without scrolling.
One issue:
BGOFS is permanent so if you set BGOFS and then change the scrolled values.
Your drawing onto a scrolled background layer still. It's difficult to work around.
If you want scrolling like that you might want to look into how village does this.
I'm doing my scrolling in this fashion because I dont mind the non smooth 8 pixel scrolling (But I might not use this for LTTP)
and I want large areas. VERY large areas.
Areas that are made of up 2000 tiles by 2000 tiles (I know i'm crazy!)
I'll think up a way. I like my solutions to be usable, but not too difficult. Thank you very much
I don't have a 3DS so what do I put here? -Damolii

Its ok. I have bought red potions before but for some reason it only did that this time!

No,i only bought that one, then it did that glitch, its just that other times i've played, that glitch didn't happen!
I have an idea.
Make a game in one day! We could make a ton of tiny games if we just all make one small game.
Rules: Use whatever resources you like that are built into petit computer
Can be anything (text based, point and click, rpg, guessing games. Whatever you want.)
Submit a qr code of whatever you have complete in a small post about what it is.
Incomplete submissions are OK.
This is a challenge! Who wants to do this?
Got a project? PM ME on here!

Want help with coding? PM ME! PM ME PM ME!! XD
FC: WIll post later.
Systems I own: ds lite, 3DS, PC/gaming, steam platform. I play alot of games. Just ask ! Minecraft anyone? :D

Since most of my Petit Computer Journal is done in a few hours, I guess I have been doing it all along. The thing is, if you limit your development time to just one day, you'll end up with a lot of raw, unbalanced game that will not have staying power. Okay if the program is done as tutorial, but for entertainment value, you really need the games to be well designed, and that takes a lot of time.
My very simple WITCH game does not have background, music, levels, or even start screen! It's extremely raw. The original idea is to mimic the game "Parachute" (I don't remember the exact title) where a single gun emplacement is shooting paratroopers falling from the sky. I managed to duplicate the game well enough, but extensive testing revealed that it's a single level game and gets repetitive very quickly.
So, the game would have been improved if the witch has to guard something. A cross between that game and Missile Command would be great. Along with possibilities that you can have several map layouts. That game could be fun. But it's not a one day game.
I'd rather that you focus your learning on one aspect of PTC, making a program that uses that aspect, in about one hour. After about 40 hours or so, you should master the language, and can then move on to making great games.

It's mostly just to encourage people to come up with ideas and get more games made (Even if they are haphazardly put together) it just adds more content to what we have already for PTC XD so I thought it'd be good.

I used to come up with programming challenges that is doable in one hour. Hangman is a one hour game. Turtle Graphic is also a one hour game. Come to think of it, most of my Petit Computer Journal program is designed around one hour time block. Most ended up being more than one hour because I have to re-type the whole program from the device.
So, you can start doing that, giving us a one hour computer programming challenge that highlights one aspect of computer programming, designed to let people learn computer programming.
OTOH, that's what I've been doing with Petit Computer Journal, so ... never mind.
Hey, I had such a blast with coral maze, so I feel like doing another community project. Any suggestions to what may make a good one? Of course, I'm releasing WITCH program so you can customize it freely. I expect some of you will be using it to make your own Galaga style games. Any taker?
Speaking of challenges here are some of the things you can do with my Witch game, that should take you about one long afternoon to do:
1. Galaga style game: Have undead follows a certain path
2. Zombie Barbeque: my original intention. Flame thrower type of weapon
3. Missile Command: Protect treasure chests from being robbed
4. Undead Hunter: Like Duck Hunter, where undead rise up from the bush to get away.
5. The Dead Maze: Combine WITCH + MAZE where Undead follow your tracks.
6. Witch War: Two player witches duking it out, DPAD vs Buttons!
7. Downhill ski: Scrolling background, and witch try to snatch coins, while avoiding undead
Basically games that uses simple sprite collisions are doable relatively quickly. If you decide to take up my challenges, don't bother to let me know. Just do it, and share your program. Have fun!
Are people like TheDreamingHawk still here and posting? That...would..be..cool. I just haven't seen the past programmers post here anymore and wondered if they just left their accounts alone or something.
Oh no. Guys, this is off-topic, but I need help bad. How do I crash a hacker's game on Minecraft online servers? Someone is hacking and I swore I would retaliate.
