INPUT "SEED$"
SEED=ASC(SEED$)
IF SEED>=250 THEN SEED=250
'later in the code...
LINK=SEED
It works but how can I change this?
Indeed, it is too easy. But we're not after longevity here. One minute is all that we need. We can increase the resolution by going graphic screen but I don't want to do it just yet. What do you want to change the LINK into?
I do have some ideas for increasing the difficulty level, but like I said, I'm not going to do it just yet.

I've been working on an Animal-Crossing-esque game called Village. It's not exactly Animal Crossing in that it focuses more on external things rather than furniture and such, but it's similar enough. It'll be really simple, but I hope you'll enjoy it. You can get the incomplete version here: http://goo.gl/I1YWT
That looks great. I'm going to download the real game, though. I like what I see so far.
And thanks for the hint about BUTTON. I already considered that, but decided that keeping direction with an extra variable will afford more flexibility and easier maintenance.
Concerning petit computer I made this using the graphic editor in petit computer. Just to show my drawing ability and where I'm at. I can even do better than this. I think it might be fun to help others with graphics for their projects if they want character art. I'm willing to help draw just give me a description and i'll do a draft.
@ramstrong "I already considered that, but decided that keeping direction with an extra variable will afford more flexibility and easier maintenance." I figured it was something like that instead of shorter code. Thanks for liking what you see in my game!
You can make the "GOTO" conditional, but for now let's just make it always jump. The VSYNC 1 tells the game to make sure the loop is complete within 1/60th of a second. This is better than trying to let the game run as fast as it can, as it'll stutter and probably not look so great. What we really care about is the "DO SOMETHING" comment.
First thing's first: There are two functions that let you see the button presses. BUTTON() will return a code representing the buttons pressed every single time it is called. This is different than BTRIG(), which will only return the buttons pressed once per press, even if it is held down. So if you're holding down the "up" arrow, BUTTON will return the code for "up" every single time the loop executes, but BTRIG() will only return it as soon as you press it, then it will return 0 until you release "up" and then press it again. Anyway, you'll probably want to use BUTTON(). You can see how to extract button codes here: https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/dsiware/petit_computer?sta...
Once you've got the button code extraction down, now all you have to do is make it move. We'll do it the simple way and test for the direction and increment/decrement accordingly
SPSET 0,0,0,0,0,1 @GAMELOOP
B=BUTTON()
IF B AND 1 THEN Y=Y-1
IF B AND 2 THEN Y=Y+1
IF B AND 4 THEN X=X-1
IF B AND 8 THEN X=X+1
SPOFS 0, X, Y
VSYNC 1
GOTO @GAMELOOP
Oh and @ramstrong there's a much easier way to make something continue moving than the code on pg 104 (unless you did it that way on purpose, in which case never mind): Replace B=BUTTON() in the above loop with
ok, any one who's asking, the game will be about you becoming a trainer. it then shows the world a year later. prof. oak asks you if you want to go to tournaments and battle other trainers. from there the game starts. the story might change a little. who's all helping?
I want to help to.

OK here is the new Coral maze. The basic principal is there, but it needs (a lot) Of polishing and a better GUI.
The game:
Its needs a little shorting though. I bet the code could be simpler.
Here is the updated version of @Morphtroids sprites:
Yeah, Do whatever you want. We have 19 days.
I think that it is going in the right direction. It needs:
*A better GUI
*Harder arrangement (Maybe)
*Better sound @Morphtroid did a good job with p farm hint hint
Also, I finished this at night so there are mistakes at line 151 and 153. They are if statments. It should be pretty easy to fix.
From now on, I won't be able to work on it much. I am in the process of shortning Temple Raid and putting on finishing touches.
While I may not be very talkative here, I can try to answer questions about different PTC programming topics that are within my means. Just don't expect a simple answer, if at all, to a question that is complex or requires a lot of knowledge of other programming aspects. Even questions about my MM2 PTC project are welcome, but the same restriction I mentioned applies to it. Don't expect immediate answers, but be patient.
I'm actually very interested in the megaman 2 thing you did. I'm curious to some of you methods and i've read your source code (the main source code) a few times and I don't get everything but it's interesting how you set it all up.

How many people on here know how to use petit computer? I'm curious. And I want to know what the interest level is for doing a group project of some sort?
Can we get a vote? Too bad i can't make a poll on this thread.
On a scale of :
highly interested
very interested
interested
kinda curious
neutral
not interested
could care less
And for those of you who know how to program in petit computer also reply with:
I know everything about it (Expert)
Some skills and experience (Well rounded)
Just learning (Begginer)
nothing at all (newbie)
Ok and with that I'm going to try to make legend of zelda link to the past for petit computer. How? I have no idea. But I have enough coding skill. I saw some other forum posts about people wanting to do it and with the way the sprites are it seems legit and possible. Maybe I could miniaturrize some of the dungeons. I'm starting to see developing natively in petit isn't so bad.
I'm working on some sort of Zelda-like game. It's coming along nicely, but could probably be made more streamlined. I'll post it when I get it to a level I'm comfortable with sharing.
I have a question about how I can create an array, and parse each word within a string into a part of that array.
IE after each space in the string mystring$="Hello how are you today?"
I can show my code of what have so far, the output isn't what I want there's a few glitches/bugs with it. It does end up parsing my code. Note I did this in petit computer not exactly knowing whether mid$ works the same as it does in other basic languages but I have been reading the commands indexes alot.
I need this type of thing so that I can create complex lists of objects inside user input strings, or for parsing entire files saved as text.
The reason? Well it's for my AI of course. I don't mind sharing my code I want all the help and advice I can get.
Infact... the faster I can get this working the faster I can port some of my AI (which I am programming on pc) to petit computer.
My AI is fairly simple it's not like 2000 lines of code or anything.
Here's the code I have so far for parsing text anyhow:

Yes, and another question if anyone can help me. Here is where I'm at with the link spites, I took a chr file SPU and I exported to png assuming I could also import.
So I exported and noticed sprites can also be 2*4 2*2 and so on. I hadn't gotten that deep into the sprite part of petit until now.
So here's what I've figured out.. already. Palletes.
But the problem is I can't import a png file into petit even with the import options and it's the exact same filesize and image size as the image I exported.
Some help please am I missing something.
Here's the edit btw I know it's sloppy it's only meant to be a test of link running: http://i.imgur.com/1CUGjeU.png

Have you tried using PTCUtilities to generate a QR code of the SPU files?
I can't generate an SPU file. Ptc utilities won't let me IMPORT a .PNG file.
Here is what I did:
Step 1: PIck a SPU:01 file or one that has animated sprites on it.
Step 2: Use the export option inside the CHR editor.
Step 3: Saved it as a PNG (INDEX)
Step 4: Delete the sprites leaving lots of white space and draw lines to show sprite box boundaries.
Step 5: Get link to the past sprite sheet
Step 6: Literally inside of paint just copy and paste the link sprites, one by one, into the file I exported
Step 7: Save the file as a png
Step 8: Try to use ptc utilities, click the button that says "Create pallete and import"
Step 9: Under the dialouge window that pops up it says *any file. So I picked the png file I made called LINKTEST.png
Step 10: Nothing happens? WTF? PTC UTILITIES? Are you broken?
Step 11: Repeat and retry
Step 12: RAGE
Step 13: Please help me

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I'm not having any luck either.
Obviously it would be too difficult to try to redraw every sprite by hand pixel by pixel. and hand select your pallette.
I googled this. I looked on youtube. I checked the wiki. Why isn't there a concise clear tutorial on how to do this when so many people
already know how? I've seen alot of custom sprites imported, I honestly didn't think it'd be this hard. I tried several things I even tried exporting from
paint as a bmp file that only has a 16 bit depth. Could somone who's done this before give me a hand?
I seriously spent almost half of my afternoon trying to do this all I wanted to do was see if I could get link animated moving. What a headache -.-"
I'm honestly blaming the tool itself for being faulty. I bet you anything if I tried using a different tool or file format it might work.
This is really slowing down my progress and taking up all my time.
