Topic: How many Pokemon is too many?

If I remember correctly, 1000 (probably more) have already been designed by Game Freak. In any case, I find it hard to justify the inclusion very many pokemon that aren't radically different from the others. I mean, most of the ones that have the same type are pretty interchangeable.

How did they run out of ideas if they already made about 100 more for Black and White?

I don't think they could ever have "too many". The game is all about catching monsters, training and battling monsters. Having more of them simply gives you more variety and customisation options. I remember playing the originals against a lot of different people and most of the time you'd run against the same teams.. Charizard, Gyarados, Nidoking, etc.

Unlike some, I don't believe the quality of the designs has decreased either, even as some who's been playing since the originals, I think some of the new guys are really awesome looking.. Okay, some of them are pretty bad, but this was the case with Red & Blue as well. People let their nostalgia for the originals blind them too much.

I think Pokemon is better in the 5th gen actually, everyone who says there no good ideas any more because of Klink isnt looking at it like this, ITS CALLED POCKET MONSTERS not ANIMAL FIGHTERS

Have all new Pokemon in the wild but they evolve into or are evolved from existing Pokemon.

Prevo Farfetch'd would be the bird Pokemon at the beginning areas for example.

I'm also surprised to see people bashing Klink. He's actually one of my favourite new ones and very reminiscent of Magnemite. Once again, I strongly believe that none of the designs have gotten worse. People just remember the originals more fondly because of nostalgia.

I think it can be a bit much at times. Some of the Pokemon they created make me wonder what they were thinking or why bother. To me Bidoof was the new Rattata (Better then seeing Geodude and Zubat in every cave ever). I am curious to see how Eevee will evolve next. The only reason why I leep buying the games is because I don't like erasing my game saves to play it again. I hope the Migration of past Pokemon titles will be easy. My wife and I have FireRed/LeafGreen/Ruby/Diamond/Pearl/HeartGold/SoulSilver. We have Black and white pre-ordered.

I was wondering how they ever eat meat in the cartoon when all the animals we see are Pokemon. Are Eggs from pidgey? are steaks and ground beef from Miltank? Are pork chops from Tepig?

Expect that in generation 6. There seems to be a pattern, but that's just speculation for now. Generation 6 shall confirm this.

Gen 1 - 151 Pokémon
Gen 2 - Pre-evos were introduced and a good amount of Pokémon of gen 1 got an evo.
Gen 3 - All new. Not a single Pokémon from the previous generations got an evo or pre-evo.

Gen 5 - Like gen 3, all new. No pre-evos/evos of Pokémon of older generations.

I think they need to make MissingNo an official Pokemon.

I say bring more. More variety. Because even with the 493- now 600-ish, people use relatively the same Pokemon teams competatively.

Or, they can overhaul the base stats for CERTAIN Pokemon that would really benefit.

But the more the merrier. There's 1000s and 1000s of species in the real world... So, why can't Pokemon do the same. I know the names of the 493 Pokemon than I do animals in real life lol

i agree with you, bring on more!!

I figure they'll just start isolating Pokemon to their specific versions and take out the National Dex entirely.
