Topic: How many Pokemon is too many?

From the recent news post.

I'm not bothered by more releases of Pokemon...but how many more will there be before everyone agrees that enough is enough?

I can't catch the original 150 nevermind the 600+ that are currently in circulation...

Do you think that the recent Black and White game will keep fans happy for at least 5 years now given how many there are now, or do you want more Pokemon in the future? (number wise, not game wise)

Edit: Typo iTouch fail, can a mod edit it to spell Pokemon? Thanks in advance.

Main Final Fantasy & Quest/Shinobi Team fan...but I do like many SEGA games and a few Nintendo games.

I can be cute if I want to be, but I choose not to...as it's not my style.

I'd prefer the next game to be Ponymon, actually.

Lol Thank You.

That's Ubisoft's game to finally rid the world of Pokemon. XD

As long as they can keep them interesting, I'm all for new creatures.

You can't never have too many IMO. They do have to watch out for broken Pokémon though. I've heard that the dreamworld in Pokémon Black/White (which is a new feature) can change the abilities of Pokémon, which can result in god Pokémon. This can ruin the fun.

Catching all Pokémon is not as hard as it used to be with Wifi. Just request what you want on the GFAGS message boards and you will get it. Personally, I think it's more fun to catch them all by yourself, but if you don't have all the versions or you missed some events, your only option is Wifi trading. I own LeafGreen, Emerald, Pearl, Diamond, HeartGold, SoulSilver and I pre-ordered both Black and White (I have a younger sister who loves the games too), so I can catch a good amount of them. =D

Wouldn't the term "Catch 'Em All" have a lesser effect in future games though? I mean, I thought even the hardcore fans would struggle to obtain every Pokemon these days...especially those that you need to get at events.

Edit: I see...but WiFi isn't the same as obtaining the Pokemon by yourself and Friend's you know personally...in a way, WiFi could make the collectathon too easy.

True, it is way too easy and it takes away the fun, but it's the only way to get a Pokémon like Arceus, so you need it to complete your Pokédex (if that is your goal). The best way to enjoy the games is to catch as many on your own, trade with your friends to obtain the exclusive ones and get the remaining ones on Wifi.

The only time I ever tried to complete the PokeDex was on my Leaf Green game...used the Pokemon Box with my Coliseum and used the pokes from that game and brought over the Ruby and Sapphire games and was only 60 Pokemon away from a complete dex...too bad Mew and Celebi are extremely hard to get...and I never go to gaming events.

Thinking about it, it is more possible then the dreaded credits system I had to suffer in another game. :S

"Catch 'em all" was removed as the official slogon around the GSC era and hasn't been used since (because, of course, the increasing unlikelyness that people will even /want/ to bother). Still, I don't know, maybe there's already too many. But then, I've never bothered to even try catching them all, and I can't help but think without the new 'mon and moves each gen, it'd be ridiculously stale by now (heck, even as a die-hard fan of the series, even I'm starting to think it's beginning to get old)

Well, there are I think over a thousand individual Yu-Gi-OH cards. So it wouldn't be impossible, that pokemon will only stop if it runs out of original designs, maybe?

Maybe if it reaches a thousand, as long as the Pokemon are unique and not similar to previous pokemon, and look interesting also.

In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

Gotta catch them all. You heard it, you have no choice. The slogan isn't "Try your best to catch them all".

Over 300 is pushing the limit.

I never bothered catching them all anyways, if I like it...I catch it, otherwise I'll kill it if its ugly or something. xD

Considering some of the new evolutions in 4th gen, they already ran out of ideas.

Well, I think that it's always awesome to have more 3rd evolutions, like one for Donphan.

Otherwise, I dunno. That's a tough question.

Of course we need more Pokemon! We will always need more. After clocking 230 hours on Soul Silver I was finally able to obtain every last Pokemon 1st-4th gen. How boring would Black and White be if I already owned every Pokemon see able in those games. Trust me, if Nintendo were to roll out the 6th gen and be like "by the way, there aren't any new Pokemon, we're just re-using old ones" everyone would be pissed!
