Topic: What's the Point of the Charging Cradle?

I really don't get the point either. Plus with like, a crystal case or a grip or something, it's pretty much useless. Maybe if you decided to watch something on Netflix or Nintendo Video.

the point(for me) is that it looks super cool when charging with it and that you can pull the 3DS without having to care about the cable of the charger getting damaged(without the craddle you have to pick the 3DS and unplug it without pulling the cable) but the main point(for me) is that it looks really cool(especially if you leave the craddle on the support that comes with Kid Icarus Uprising)
sadly that metal part on the 3DS that serves to charge with the craddle got too rusty so I don't use it anymore...

It's astounding to me that people don't understand the point of the charging cradle. It's just an extra peripheral to make charging the 3DS slightly more convenient in some cases

I take my 3DS with me wherever I go, so having the cradle set up is convenient for me. Every morning when I walk out of my house, I pick up my 3DS knowing that it's fully charged. When I come home, I set my 3DS back on the cradle and don't even think about it or worry about battery life until the next time I pick it back up. Sure, I could just plug the cord into the back of my console, but that's one more step that I'd rather not have to fumble around with. I love the charging cradle. It makes my life as a 3DS owner much more convenient.

The cradle just serves as an easy way to plop your 3DS down when you get home which greatly decreases the old "Damn i forgot to charge it" situation from occurring which we all known has happened before.

it depends on what you mean by before, because it still happens to me all the time. but again my 3DS got rusty on the metals used for the craddle so I don't use it anymore

Well it at least lowers it for me. The 3DS now has a home and i dont have to actively think of charging it as it just goes there. Same goes for the Wii U charging cradle, its never out of power.

I'd probably have used my caddle more if I had 2 chargers(one for the craddle and one to take with me when I leave for more than a few hours and less than 2 days) I guess I should get a new charger... or one of those giant "enhanced batteries"(since I'm still not interested in the Circle Pad Pro)

I really wished those giant batteries had a light version. I do not need 20+ hours worth of battery, but if could just double the battery by just making the back a little thicker would be amazing. As for the circle pad pro, really no point to have it unless your playing Monster Hunter, and even then its questionable as they removed the controller scheme that would make the most of it.

^ I actually can play Monster Hunter just fine without CPP so the only good use I'd have for it would be in Kid Icarus Uprising(I'm lefty and though it's not important for me on ground levels it's almost impossible to dodge everything in air battles without it)

Personally, I leave my cradle next to my bed. A lot easier to drop it in the cradle when it's dark then to plug it in.

Yeah for some reason Capcom thought it would be smart to remove a controller scheme that was practically the go to in Monster Hunter 1. The right analogue would serve as the weapon attacks (so your main buttons would not have to do the whole switch what they do when you do or dont have a weapon out). You would sacrifice camera control to the same level of if you currently dont have a circle pad pro.

I use it as a "convenient" alternative since the 3rd party usb charger I have at work only works right when it bend a certain way. The cradle keeps the wire in place with additional help. Had to quote convenient since I have to take off the bottom part of the protective case but that only a tiny problem.
Also my gf's charging port is messed up on her 3ds, so there's that.

They included it as a bit of a boon to make up for the poor battery life. Basically it was made to make the frequent charging more bearable.

I definitely think this is part of it. I'd never have spent the money on one, but having one come with my 3DS was nice. I bought myself an extended battery recently and now the system doesn't fit, so I definitely miss the cradle. It might seem kind of silly and petty, but there's just something simple about plopping the 3DS down in it and not having to mess with a cord.

i tried it once but it doesnt make much sense. plugging in the cable into your 3ds is not hard, but playing 3ds with the cradle is.

The cradle is my bed for my 3DS.

What's the point of a charging cradle? Well, why do people use beds? So they can have a comfortable place to recharge.

I've never charged any other way. Set it on the cradle and done. I just bought an XL cradle before I even have an XL (yeah, a day before they were announced for Club Nintendo).

Always used the cradle for my 3DS, and bought one for my XL when I got it. Keeps all the wires from falling behind the stand I have all my stuff on. My XL charges right next to my Gamepad, also in its cradle.
