I'll be purchasing a new bigger SD card for all the new games coming out in 2013, so I need to learn how to transfer from SD card to SD card. Thank you
I'm thinking of buying a 9-16 GB. How much would they cost, and is it better to buy online or in store (I prefer store)
I can't really speak as to price for SD Cards (check retailer adds or online for good sales, but I really couldn't tell you what a "good" price for one is), but here's how to transfer data between SD Cards:
1. Make sure your computer can read SD Cards; if not, grab a USB plug-in SD Card reader (iirc those retail for around $10-15 but you could always see if a friend could lend you one).
2. Insert old SD card into computer/card reader and copy all files onto your computer (it helps to keep a folder specifically for SD Card backup data)
3. Remove old SD Card; insert new one into computer and copy all 3DS files directly to the new Card
4. Remove Card from your computer; insert back into 3DS and enjoy!

Couldnt you also use a smartphone to transfer the files if you dont have access to a PC card reader?

@Tasuki - Wouldn't know that; I don't have a smartphone or know of anyone who does that sort of thing with theirs. That'd be one thing to Google if you have a smartphone and are looking to save a few bucks, though...
Try to find a 32GB for around $20 (I did in Aug) although even with that I'm worried I won't have enough room

Yeah, August is usually one of the best times to get tech stuff, since a lot of places do "back to school" sales around that time. But, I'm not much of an internet shopper (mainly because I don't have my own credit card); chances are you could still probably find a good deal on a 16GB or 32GB for around $20 somewhere online right now though.

I know it works on other files (wont go into details here) but when I was doing something that required me to move files off of my computer to an SD card and it called for an SD card reader it said that I could also use a smartphone as well. I also heard the same goes with digital cameras. Just not sure if you can do that with 3DS files.
