They either said it, or I read it in the fine print, that multiplayer requires each player to have their own 3DS and a copy of the game.

Ah that's the GP Legend anime watched that a couple of years ago it was actual good.
I don't think local download would have worked anyway
Even if there was download play, they downloaders would be limited to their Miis only, and possibly the hosts. The only stage would be battlefield, and only a few items would be there. No Smash Ball or transformative / character spawning items.
It could have worked, but it would have been a dull experience.

I tried watching that last year, but only the first few episodes were subbed. Did you watch it raw?
So did anyone catch that there will be a minigame that uses Streetpasss and Spotpass will be used?
Not that it should be that surprising, considering Sakurai expressed interest in both features last year after the game's reveal.
I think it would be cool if the Streetpass feature was some kinda of bot that tried to mimic other people's playstyles, like what they are doing for amiibo on Wii U. If you beat the person you get a random trophy. Could be fun...
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.

@TeeJay: ZSS's alts need no explaining, unless you don't know where they came from, in that case the multiple ending screens in Metroid: Zero Mission.
I still think it's weird how the retro stages are revealed in very hidden ways with little thought, especially the Green Hill Zone one. Few are going to know that's in the game when it's hidden among a big bundle of new screenshots released onto the internet.
I didn't, actually. I've played next to no Zero Mission...when I saw her wearing that inwas totally floored. Never would I have imagined... D:

@TeeJay: After beating Metroid: Zero Mission, you get an ending screen of Samus depending on your percentage and how quickly you beat the game.
Also, I thoguht everyone would learn about the alts in the Wii U thread instead of the 3DS one, since the vast majority of NL members visit the Wii U thread anyway.
I don't have a Wii U and I'm getting the 3DS version instead. The only reason I visit the Wii U thread is because it's a lot more active than this one. So naturally when I saw the 3DS thread active I came here first. XD
