Nintendo very recently announced they are releasing a bundle of amazing retail games on eShop. Super Mario 3D Land, Legend of Zelda OoT, Mario Kart 7, Star Fox 64 3D, Mario Tennis Open, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Awesome! We can probably expect these games to arrive on eShop here in PAL regions and North America as well. Does this sound good to any of you? What are your thoughts, and will you be downloading any of these games? And, will they finally make DLC for Super Mario 3D Land?
Games I'm playing currently: Legend of Zelda: A Link Betweeen Worlds, Tearaway
Games I'm excited for: Super Mario 3D World, Super Smash Bros. 4, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8

I have the 3 I would download, hopefully I can get a discount since I already own them, but I'll finally get MTO when they come

I'm not surprised they would start bringing more retail games for download, some of the games like Pilotwings are impossible to find in any store in my town. So its good to always be able to get it via the eShop, where it will still be there for years after they stop making the retail versions of some games.
As long as they bring Cave Story 3D and Tales of the Abyss, I will support downloadable versions, if not then screw nintendo, If i can find it at retail cheaper, or somewhere else on the internet, then I'll do that. For me, there is no incentive to pick up a digital copy, double club nintendo points is pathetic, Club nintendo is useless in Australia, they no longer have the gold nunchuk controller, or the SNES Wii classic controller etc so why should I support a digital version?
As a gamer I love my physical media, sometimes I think the games industry is taking a really bad approach to digital sales, after all not everyone can benefit from it and also if you are buying a physical copy, you're not paying extra for a ISP to deliver it for you.

If TotA and CS3D don't release digitally, that's on Namco Bandai & NIS, respectively. Nintendo has made the system available, and whether or not third party games arrive digitally, is completely up to the company who publishes said game(s) in a particular region.
As for Nintendo published games, they've promised to release every new game digitally (which has held true so far), and it's been revealed that they're going to start offering past titles digitally as well (OoT3D, MK7, SM3DL, ect). So, Nintendo is faithfully giving digital releases to every game they publish, just as promised (even if there are some pricing issues).
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

% of me surprised by this announcement: 0. You had to have seen this coming when NSMB2 was released on the eShop. Hopefully now that Nintendo can say "Oh, it's on the eShop", after the initial wave of retail download incentives, they'll begin discounting the retail versions in stores instead of keeping them at the same price for 3+ years.
Retail Price = (Digital Price + no discounts like PSN or XBLA have) = bite my shiny metal ass, Nintendo.
Seriously, now with the eShop they have a lot of good games and they have really a good online store, but all the games have the same price forever. There was some time they discounted something, but the discount was hilariously low that it only saved you some cents.

Solution to getting the games cheaper: buy the download card they'll be handing out, like the ones shown in the ND that said you could get at 7-11 in Japan, I'm sure those cards will go down in price

This is just speculation on my part, but it would make some sense for Nintendo to offer occasional promotions to encourage downloads. I don't think this would interfere with their goal of preserving retail sales.
How is this ironic? They never promised GBA games but they did promise 3DS games on eShop
That's the irony right there. Why don't they sell Gba games but already put retail on the eshop?
