The Game Boy Advance had Fire Red and Leaf Green, the DS has Soul Silver and Heart Gold. How about Lightning Yellow and Crystal Clear for the 3DS? It'd work well since they'd have 3D and all the Pokemon from Black and White.
They could redesign Lightning Yellow to be truer to the original series (e.g. Meowth talking, Brock surrendering, meeting Misty before the Cerulean gym, etc). I'd get it hands-down.

Why would they remake Crystal? The DS remakes took care of all the features that game had, not to mention the fact that Yellow and Crystal don't work together. And then they'll probably release them all on the VC...
I'd imagine Ruby/Sapphire remakes are inevitable, but hopefully after that they'll be done with them. I want neeeeeeew Pokemons now please. D:

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
@MasterGraveheart If they port Red/Blue to VH (Which they probably will) and remake Ruby/Sapphire, then all will be playable on 3DS. Though all handheld Pokemon games are already on the DS Phat
Unless they really upgrade the graphics from the same boring sprites in the next gen, I don't see what a remake of R/S could upgrade, besides having a billion pokemon in it.
@Xk: No, the 1 and 2 gen of Pokemon aren't playable on the DS phat, unless you're counting the remakes.
I think a fully (polygonal... which seems to be required to say nowadays) 3D game along the lines of Colosseum and XD, but more refined. And of course an actual pokemon game, just not overhead.
I mean really, the pokemon games are all exactly the same! Take a page from FF for example
No, I'm tired of remakes. Ruby and Sapphire weren't good enough to play again, and I got tired of HeartGold quickly. Can't wait for Black and White, but I won't buy another remake.
Sounds great to me, never really played a Pokemon game! they look interesting, what's the best to get started with? one of the Gameboy ones? you should know I don't have any videogame systems right now, just waiting on the Nintendo 3DS . Though at one time or another I have owned each major system ever since the original Nintendo and Gameboy.
Now back onto Pokemon, is there any resemblance to Metroid II: Return of Samus as in the search for the Metroid's in each area or castle? from the start it tells you how many remain, it's a matter of finding (and battling) them all before you can move onto each new area or castle. edit That sorta thing with search and exploration to me is fun .
I don't think they are going to remake ruby and sapphire. The first two generations had a lot less features than any of the other generations, and it does seem pointless to remake the rest of them. I don't believe that there will be a continual practice of remaking the second generation prior to the current one. There are some good things about that though, the most important being the return of previous pokemon. Otherwise, many would just die out.
Is it weird that Ruby and Sapphire still seem too recent to me?
I think 3D(polygonal) battles is what's really needed. There's no real need to change the world view and Pokémon is based on tiles but in battles it could make things a lot easier and they could even just have Genius Sonority handle the battle engine or something.

@Oregano Not at all! I still play my copy of Ruby occasionally! I don't think it's outdated enough to warrant a new release like the others were. When the 3DS is release, maybe that will change.
I'm not sure what I'd want in the new ones, though. Most people are saying 3D polygon battles, which I guess would make it better, except I don't have any problems with pokemon as it is now. I'm sure GameFreak will come up with some nice ideas that none of us thought of here that will make the Remakes worth buying, but now, I'm content with the original versions.

No. I still don't understand why Nintendo is deciding to remake games in a game series that hasn't changed.

Anime canon and game canon are unrelated. Yellow was mildly related to the anime (Pikachu starter, Jesse and James appearances), but it was a tenuous link at best.
Anyway, I doubt they'll remake Ruby/Sapphire. FRLG and HGSS updated games to the new standards (Gen III was a complete overhaul), but the third gen games are already the current standard (bar the physical/special split). And Gen III are still compatible with the current games - can transfer Gen III to Gen V via Gen IV.
I imagine Pokémon Black/White's third entry will be on 3DS, though. DS will be quite dead by then, I imagine.
