@YummyHappyPills Guzzlord is a weird case because unlike the other ultra beast, he has this long story cutscene when encountered and he's not respawnable either.
(all the ultra beast respawn)
EDIT: actually looking myself, I'm not seeing a shiny check on guzzlord, could be wrong there but it's definitely not respawnable.
@Araquanid Ive seen gameplay. Blacephalon and Stakataka are encountered like the UBs in Sun and Moon were (Namely find them randomly in an area with multiples) Poipole is a gift Pokemon.
The returning UBs however, having seen gameplay, are all encountered after cutscenes in unique explorable areas and are interacted with just like Guzzlord. Said UBs are not shiny locked.
So why would Guzzlord be different
Just like the returning legendary Pokemon in Ultra Space too.
They prolly wanted guzzlord to seem more important since in his segment he's literally destroying the city; would seem kinda bad for them if he could respawn.
The others there's tons of the other ultra beast, even in kartana's segment you battle normal people using kartanas until you catch your own, so I guess they're no rarity while guzz is more of a legendary UB given his destruction single handedly, if there were more of those well rip the world.
They probably wanted guzz to be a legendary UB like necrozma, while the other UBs are just generic regular pokemon of their dimensions.
Although I initially disliked it, Blacephalon is starting to grow on me. I've semi-spoiled myself with Serebii already in terms of version exclusives (still think I'll stick with Ultra Sun) and the names of the new UBs, though I'm being very careful to avoid story spoilers.

Generation 5 is the shortest in Japan, being 2010-2013. 2011-2013 here. Gen 6 was 2013-2016. Gen 7, currently, looks to be 2016-2018/2019. That's fairly normal.
Now if you want to talk about short, think how long Generation 2 was in the EU markets.
April 6 2001 - Gold and Silver
November 2 2001 - Crystal
Yeah. We got all of Gen 2 in a 7 month period. Then a two year wait until Gen 3 started. Right now, you are getting NO complaints from me.

As for Gen 6...Kalos was dull. I'm sorry. That game was a huge mess. Boring, very poorly paced and forgettable, and for whatever reason a lot of new Pokémon were the rare encounters, because they thought that was smart. XY is an example of a Pokedex being too damn big, at 450 Pokémon. That's a lot of Pokémon in each route and the new ones got outnumbered and buried.
Pokémon Z could've fixed that but didn't. Zygarde got so shafted, the poor thing, and the intent was "blantantly" obvious, but in reality, outside of it's useless original ability existing solely to cancel out the abilities of Xerneas and Yveltal, what relation did Zygarde have to them? None. Honestly the way those 2 legendaries were shoehorned into the plot so suddenly, Zygarde would have been more out of place than them!
And that's before even considering the Cells and Cores thing. Man, they really just threw XY together.
Looking back over S/M you can see areas they are expanding with building sites and tools and materials and obvious hints of "More" that we never got.
Makes you wonder, looking at how this game has every legendary from every generation, and every team leader, if this is what Sun and Moon was meant to be, but couldn't be ready in time for the 20th?
I actually felt that XY hinted towards more than SM did. SM's "hints" have been relatively minor, an area here and there that feels like it could've been more fleshed out. XY has some larger things that felt incomplete. Zygarde played even less of a role in XY than Necrozma did in SM, there are multiple forms promoted in XY that weren't released, there were multiple characters that did virtually nothing, the storyline was even more bare than SM, and it had its own set of areas that felt like they should've had more like the Power Plants and the Couriway Train Station. But the biggest thing that made XY feel incomplete? Southern Kalos. They make multiple references to a Southern Kalos but we never actually go to such a place. The game implies that there's this whole section of new areas and we never saw them, leaving the player feel like there's a significant chunk of the game missing. That's the equivalent of SM hinting towards a 5th island that never came to be (and no, the clouds on the USUM map don't count, those clouds haven't really hidden anything major in a while). SM didn't exactly feel like it was brimming with content but it never made you feel that that much was missing.
@Bolt_Strike There were unreleased Pokémon from Gen 6 such as Eternal Floette
Yes, that's what I just said. We didn't get Eternal Flower Floette, and Zygarde's forms and Ash Greninja were released in 7th gen instead of in Kalos where they belonged. 7th gen didn't really have any unreleased forms, the only hidden ones were the Ash Cap Pikachus and we just got those.
@Bolt_Strike 7th gen does have one more unreleased Pokémon but I anticipate that will be next year.
Was Ash Pikachu in the Gen 6 data? I know Zygarde's alternate moves were (As were Mega Latios/Latias in XY) as is Eternal Floette, and I'm pretty sure Ash Greninja wasn't given it was an anime thing in 2016.

Who?
Zeraora? That wasn't in SM's data.
I'm talking about Pokemon that existed in SM's data and we never got. Of which there are none at this point. Anything in USUM's data that we don't have aren't comparable because XY has no third version to compare to (which is, you know, the entire point).

Ash Greninja was still promoted in 6th gen so it counts.
I like the selection of Pokémon so far. It seems like there's at least one new Pokémon per route. My starting team is already very different from the team I used in Moon. The choose your own adventure book in trainer school's 3rd floor is great.
