I hope they do something similar with the starters like they did in XY where it was also triangle of mage, knight and ninja. Maybe have alien, robot and astronaut or something along those lines.
@arronishere: No. No more weird obscure design concepts. I want Pokemon that looks like animals, not animals pretending to be some type of humanistic thing aesthetically. Also, I'm tired of standing fire types.
i just think the trainers looked cool. and the starters were cool. But the grass starter looked like Skiddo so I assume they are fake. The bear and lizard looked amazing
Want: Harvest Moon: One World, Story of Seasons: Pioneering Town, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury
Finished the Alola Dex.
Now playing New Horizons, Wrath of White Witch and Sword

It doesn't have to be a humanoid triangle, it could be something like mouse, Gruffalo and snake for example.
We already have a lot of mouse and snake Pokemon. The starters should be based off of animals that haven't been done yet. Actually, we already received a snake starter in Gen V.

Change the snake to an owl then but it's not about what the pokes are specifically, I really like the idea they did in XY where the starters also represented another triangle.
Why be so complex? Why not just have random animals? Simplicity is more appealing to me. Also, your "mouse snake owl" thing only goes one way. It's not a triangle, it's a food chain, which means that the owl would be better than BOTH of the other two Pokemon. They already pull that bs with legendary trios, I don't want them to do that with the next starters we get.

As I've already said I like the idea of it, it's clever and adds another layer to it. If you replace the snake with an owl it would then be gruffalo, owl and mouse which maintains the triangle.
@arronishere: But all of those animals are boring. I want interesting animals that you don't see everyday to be the starters. To answer your question about the Trio thing, Xerneas eats both Yveltal and Zygarde for breakfast, and it's stupid.
He's making examples, not saying he wants those starters.
He also talks about design elements, not types or anything like that. He means he liked how in X and Y the starters were designed around a common theme, being classic RPG classes (mage, knight and thief/ninja).
@Meowoheel The thing is, I don't want them to be designed around a theme. I just want simple streamlined designs that look good. I just want them to take a cool/cute animal, then Pokemon-ify it. That's it. Short, sweet, and to the point.
The whole thing about having a theme for starters that X and Y did didn't phase me at all. In fact I never even noticed it until a few months ago. I think Did You Know Gaming mentioned it or something? Anyway my reaction to that was just "...Huh". So I won't be bothered at all if there's no theme in the next set of starters.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
