@Tsurii I haven't followed the ORAS demo closely. Is it still available? Can I get the demo after release for the purpose of getting the special Pokemon? I'm going to buy a 3DS this year, but not sure if I can wait for a good deal on Black Friday and not miss out on the demo or not.

@Tsurii @Grumblevolcano I see thanks, I'll wait for a good deal on Black Friday then. Might borrow someone else's 3DS in the meantime like I did with Link Between Worlds.

Hmm, so they introduced Ice Stone for Alolan Vulpix to evolve into Ninetales, since of course keeping the Fire Stone wouldn't make any sense.

But Exeggcute evolves to Exeggutor via a Leaf Stone — I wonder if this will stay the same and it can only evolve to its Alolan form while in Alola, or introduce a new stone for that form as well. Perhaps a Dragon Stone to match the new typing?

@FriedSquid I think that'll stay the the same. Being in Alola, or an Alolan Exeggcute will probably trigger the evolution into Alolan Exeggutor.

Yeah, with vulpix it makes sense because it would be odd to evolve an ice pokemon with a fire stone.

But the eggs? They're still plants.

I assume the ice stone will be used to evolve iceshrew and one or two new Pokémon.

@Meowpheel Sandshrew evolves at level 22 or something like that, right? I think they'll keep that the same. We haven't seen any new Ice types, so it's a safe bet that one of them will evolve by using an Ice Stone too.

It's just an idea, since sandshrew and vulpix are version exclusive equivalents.

Since they have changed the evolution method of one, they can do for others too. Specially if their base forms also changed for the game, they can be treated as different Pokémon.

Hmm..i kinda hope they won't give you the national dex before you actually beat the game again. I'm the type to try and finish the [insert region name here] dex before I take the elite 4 on, if it's possible looks at Gen 5, and I really didn't like how ORAS just gave you the upgrade before you even beat all gyms.

Wasn't that optional? I liked the fact I got the National Dex before the Elite 4, since I am more interested in Pokemon hunting than battling

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Ain't no demo like a Monster Hunter demo 'cause a Monster Hunter demo don't stop—

Part of me misses the gen 4 method of the pokedex, where you had to atleast seen every pokemon in that region in order to get the national.

If you battled everyone in the game, you'd guarantee seeing them all and finish the dex by cynthia to get national after E4. The only one that was even hard to find was whiscash and that's only due to him being on the one route nobody goes to needing surf, the one leading to the safari or transfer or whatever that thing is called again.

When I first played these, the last Pokémon I found was Lumineon.

I think only one trainer in the whole game has one.

@MegaBeedrill I think you're confusing Whiscash with another Pokemon; He can be found on many routes.

I think it was an issue with obtaining the super rod at the time, and the only trainer who owned one was on that route making it easy to miss.

You'd have to go out of your way to fish and see one or one on a NPC's team, whereas every other pokemon was commonly seen, owned by a boss character, or hard to miss just by doing a normal straight through playthrough.

Cant remember who owned a lumineon... (I forgot the pokemon existed actually)

I've clearly missed something. Where was this confirmed?

@Tyranexx That's the case in Red/Blue. Hasn't been confirmed to be the case in Sun/Moon as far as I know.

In red and blue they were paired against Ekans and Growlithe respectively.

In this one, it's a bit implied they'll be direct equivalent exclusives.
