Can't wait until Tuesday to find out what the news is. Only one month and 17 days until these games come out. I'm very excited. Finally in Canada we get 20% off preorders on Amazon.ca through a Prime membership. So I get a good discount on the steelbook dual pack. Plus I have $24 credit because it went in effect the day Yokai Watch 2 came out. I'm debating on whether to save it or use it for another dual pack since I have to buy 2 more copies for my kids.

I would hope we get some explanation as to why they're called Z-Moves. There has to be some sort of connection to Zygarde there, unless the writers are just very big fans of Dragon Ball Z.

We'll find out next time on......

I just assumed it was Sun/Moon finishing off the work that X/Y started, which they're clearly doing with Zygarde. Together I think of them as a kind of surrogate Pokémon Z. In spirit at least.
I mean, no other game has gone to such lengths to incorporate and emphasise a legendary from the previous generation.
Whether Pokémon Z was ever going to be a standalone thing or not I don't know, but the Pokémon Company clearly allowed for the concept with Zygarde, and its role in these games suggests Sun/Moon are the closest we're going to get. I feel Z-Moves are just a continuation of that theme. And they sound cool.
I don't imagine they're explicitly tied up with Zygarde - Mega Charizard X and Y didn't need to be tied up with Xerneas and Yvgrjajtal - but Game Freak got into a habit of denoting things with letters, and the letter Z was the one they just happened not to have used up last generation.
Another question is, given Zygarde's enphasis, will be end up with a new third legendary to complement Solgaleo and Lunala? I suspect yes, but it could be that, seeing how they didn't manage to showcase a single 'third legendary' in XY, they might be wary about including two in SuMo.
The starter evolutions look fine. I'm still going to pick Rowlet. I personally weren't quite sure if they'd bring Ash-Greninja into the main games since it's kind of weird to have a Pokémon resembling Ash when you're not playing as Ash.
Seems like they added the Mega Evolution part just for the English audience since there have been so much discussion surrounding them.
The demo comes out on my birthday. I am so excited. The middle evolutions of the starters aren't too bad. Rowlet's form is my favorite though. Can't wait for these games.

Starters are what I expected, perfect middle stage for the first and the last stages. Don't really care for all the other stuff. However, mega evolutions means probably no Alolan Alakazam, another leak debunked, although that one was already quite wonky. Chinese leak again reconfirmed with the addition of Ash Greninja.
I wouldn't mind if they kept new megas a surprise tbh. I'm just happy they're confirmed to return. I guess Z-crystals make them evolve now?
Torracat looks pretty cool, significantly better than the second evo wrestler we see, but that might've just been on its hind legs as this new form looks like there's some kind of muscle to it. (although they've only shown both evos using special attacks, so hopefully it turns into another normal cat like a leopard).
Dartrix.. the way it fires off leaves and in the art, holds it's arm up, I can see an archer come out of this, but for a second evo form, meh.
Brionne definitely has that damsel in distress theme starting already, it even looks rather close to the "leaked" artwork of its evolution making it seem like its confirmed.
As long as ultra beast are catchable (lets all be honest, bosses or not at some point even post game you should be able to own anything in the games) I'd be very happy.
Also the demo on the 18th... whelp, that sucks cause last time they gave us a demo, it wasn't hard to break open and confirm literally everything. I doubt its different this time.
@MegaBeedrill I don't know, the leaks are already pretty much confirmed at this point. However, seeing the cat gain muscle, and the fact that it shoots flames from its collar, just like the evo shoots fire from its belt. And the fact that the Rowlett evo stores quills in its wings just like the last evo stores arrows in its wings... I think we're just waiting on TPC to confirm them at this point.
I have mixed feelings about the possibility of multiple starter evos. More evos are a good thing, but this level of version exclusivity is kind of ridiculous. Normally you could just trade for a baby pokemon and raise it yourself, but here a trainer has to evolve the pokemon first. So if i wanted a day form lycanroc but i had moon, welp, can't just get a rockruff. Nope, I have to take someone elses already evolved lycanroc. It'll be even worse with starters. That just really annoys me.
The middle forms of the starters look cool. Good to see Mega return.
Anyways, that Poke Pelago feature is fantastic - now your boxed Pokemon actually have a use! Smart way to get certain items.
Cool that we'll get Ash-Greninja through that demo. My problem with that is that people are gonna datamine the hell out of it, and I seriously doubt Game Freak has learned from ORAS. At least with that game there wasn't much left to confirm.
Also, I'm willing to bet that Ash-Greninja is a holding a Z-Crystal for a signature Z-Move.
I guess Vulpix evolves with an Ice Stone now: Serebii tweet
That's weird, because an Ice Stone makes sense, but it took GF 7 generations to implement, I thought that would never happen. Might as well update Glaceon and Leafeon now that we have an Ice Stone (and Leaf Stone). But I guess their evolutions will still be locked to a certain location.
GameFreak made an Ice type Vulpix and Ninetales, then read the comments online and discovered that a Fire Stone wouldn't make sense, that's probably how this happened.
If Vulpix evolves using an Ice Stone, what are the chances of another Pokemon evolving with an Ice Stone? The upcoming snowman Pokemon perhaps?
