Mega Kangaskhan + Oranguru is gonna be great in Doubles. 4 Power-Up Punches in one turn!

That is, if Mega Evolutions make a return. I can see it easily being replaced by Z-moves (and Alola forms).

I can mostly see it in the pose and the face, but the meditation aspect made me think of Darmanitan as well.

And yes, most of the Eeveelution shinies are meh, but I do like Umbreon's shiny form.

Same here. I was starting to kick around preordering Sun since I need to burn a GS gift card anyway, but now I'll probably wait for the full list of exclusives to come out for each version.

Considering we can't send items to the Pokemon Bank I think that the chances of there being Mega Evolutions is slim.

....I'm sure Megas are staying...

Come on, Game Freak can't just remove something as important as megas. Won't somebody please think of the metagame!

I don't think they can remove Megas. That seems like such a waste and having to balance out using Z-moves or Megas for certain Pokemon could add a lot more strategy.

@DefHalan Since when has balancing been a thing? There's abour 30 Pokemon that are often vastly superior every gen. Want to use a Seaking? Or a Whiscash? Well there's probably another Water Pokemon that does the exact same thing, but better. Just removing the Megas would mean that the metagame is back where it was pre-gen 6; but with the gen 6 Pokemon. Movesets haven't changed much, so I don't think it'll be an issue.

Anyway, I do think there's a big chance that Mega Pokemon won't return. Now they're introducing Z-moves and Alola forms. Do people really expect that all these gimmicks are carried over to the future generations? There will be a point where everything will be too much, and it's best to prepare for that and not get carried away too much with alternate forms, special moves and whatnot. The best thing about Mega Evolutions and Z-moves is that they can easily drop them after a gen. They require a special item, just don't include those items and include a new feature to keep the games fresh. I think that's what they're moving towards.

@shaneoh Bank has never allowed items. That's not really an indication of anything.

Anyways, there hasn't been anything indicating that Mega Evolutions have been dropped.

Yes, but the items could still be traded between games. As there is currently no indication that trading will be possible between XYORAS and S&M (hehe), existing ME items currently appear to be unobtainable in the latter games.

I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find them like in any other game they were in, if not thena t least bought via whatever stupid/boring "Battle" place they think of this time.

@Octane What battle mechanic "gimmicks" have they removed before? Maybe attacks have changed or Triple Battles were removed, but they haven't done anything that drastically changed battles, then removed them.

I don't think they are going to remove the biggest change to battles they have made in the series to date.

I think Triples are still there. I use them a lot when going for BP.
EDIT: Actually, I dunno about Omega/Alpha since I never used that place. (Resort I think?) I'm pretty sure they're still there along with Rotation, though.

@shaneoh Trading definitely isn't possible, as those are two different generations of games. There hasn't been any indication that the Mega Stones aren't available either.

As were RBY and GSC, but there was some limited trading between them, but, yes, I don't think it will be a feature this time. I would have thought that there would have been one new ME revealed by now if it were still to be a feature, but that's not the case. I'll also mention that they dropped the Season mechanic. As it stands now, I'm not holding my breath that ME are available.

@Meowpheel I did say maybe. I don't know if they were removed from Multiplayer, but they aren't in the single player from what I have found. Am I missing a particular trainer or group of trainers?

I'm pretty sure all of them can also be done via multiplayer as well.
